I have a pair of coaxial speakers JL vr5.25" and I was wondering if I could add another set of tweeters on top of the coaxials... might be a stupid question but I was curious because the coaxials are installed fairly low on the door of my 2004 mustang. I should've got separates to begin with but I'm curious if I can get away with just adding tweeters. Thanks.

You could but it wouldn't be a good idea.

Wouldn't it be funny to install a chit load of tweeters and then drive up to dogs and blast music? So why exactly would it not be a good idea? If I did install the tweeters higher, I'd get a better sound stage with the tweeters installed in the sail panels near the front end of the window.

The problem would be having the tweet in the coax and the seperate tweets both playing the same freqs. Total train-wreck on the freq response.

That's the answer I was looking for. Thanks for saving me time and $$.

That doesn't mean THE tyou can't put tweets in the sail panel, jsut that they should be the only tweets. Mine are in the A-pillar right now. Stage is nice and high. About 3" above the dash.

So you're basically suggesting that I upgrade from coaxial to separates, right?

Yeah, pretty much.
