Hey, well about two months ago, I put it my sub amp (hifonics 1606d) in with a temporary sub from my home theater set up. Immediately I noticed there was a really loud hissing, even when the RCA's were disconnected. I figured it was a ground, so I tried another spot, with the same results. I left it alone untill I install my speakers and amp, which is now.

I finished installing my comps, wired everything up and it was all fine. But i noticed a really faint high pitched noise when the engine is on or off. I have a switched wired to the remote wire of the sub amp. When i turn that on, it turns into a real loud whine, although i cant tell if it changes with engine speed, I'm pretty sure it does. Now fr what I've done:

-Relocated the ground on both amps

-grounded the rca ouputs on the H/U (kenwood)

- Ran an RCA cable straight to the amps in the middle of the car

- checked grounds with a dmm (didnt even show a reading)

So I'm pretty stumped, and I attempted to reground the headunit, but my harness is different (96 taurus) and I believe the center unit has a larger power and ground coming into it and the seperate electrical devices feed into that, because i disconnected the headunit ground and it worked and the problem didnt worsen or improve.

Also, what I find really weird, and leads me to believe it is more of a ground issue somewhere, is that when i step on the brakes or adjust the electric mirrors, the front speakers pop.

Please let me know if you have had a similar situation and have any solutions. Thanks

maybe ground the hu separately from the main dash ground ? straight to the battery ?

As far as the pops go it sounds like the central harness is the source of you troubles. You might need to bypass it.

Hiss from an amp with the RCAs disconnected, though, sounds like a problem in the amp itself.
