Brand doesn't matter, size does, to a point (regardless of what she says). 12ga is usually plenty. 10ga is usually more than enough. 8ga is usually overkill. Don't buy Monster Cable. It adds nothing but money to their bank account. You can get 12ga speaker wire for a fairly reasonable price at Home Depot by the foot.
May 3, 200718 yr helotaxi-thats good info for speaker wires, but I think he wanted to know about the sub wiring. Correct me if I'm wrong.For subs, it depends on what your running and what kind of power you'll be feeding your sub. I'd go for the 1/0 size wire for the power and grounds.
