Posted May 3, 200718 yr Ok I was watching Mythbusters last night and they were making a wind tunnel. They used a "honey cone"effect by using straws to help the air transition to the tunnel from the fan (or blower) better. I was wondering if this could be put to use in the car audo world??? Make a regular slot port and fill it with straw (like) tubes to the proper length. Very little surface area per straw and lots of straws.I was just wondering about that last night and figured I'd see if anyone here has ever tried or thought about it???Your incite is appreciated... Jon
May 3, 200718 yr What they achieve for a wind tunnel - at the expense of flow rate due to drag - is a uniform, perpendicular flow of air. Literally "straightening" the air/wind out so it doesn't create turbulence of its own.For ports, using a lot of little tubes is just going to increase port surface area and reduce the effective area at high velocities(leading to port compresion). So, no. I don't think i'd try using it. Edited May 3, 200718 yr by Tommythecat
May 3, 200718 yr Author Thanks for the explination. Just a random idea that popped into my head while I was watching it..Thanks again...Jon
