Posted April 29, 200421 yr I got bored today, so I took a movie of me putting a Magnum through its paces. It's 20 Hz, and very cool.
April 29, 200421 yr ..wow...couldn't that much excursion damage the sub?! and i thought i had my 15" moving a lot, jesus.
April 29, 200421 yr Author For the little bit that I had it going full excursion (about the equivalent of 2 seconds) it didn't damage anything. If I were to have left it like that for an hour or so it would have caused the coil to burn up, but nothing with the suspension would have been damaged b/c the coil never reaches the backplate due to the design.
April 30, 200421 yr yeah...full excursion and what everyone's definition of full excursion isn't exactly the same. That thing will throw down!josh
April 30, 200421 yr Not bad...... Wish I could show you guys my 15 vid, but nope. I think it beats the 12 hands down. Now get to work on an 18, then a 22.Hell Rims get larger every week, why not subs??
April 30, 200421 yr Imma say I got farther than that...it was definitely not linear..but I KNOW I got farther than that...and no harm....I dunno...maybe my eyes were deceiving me..but I coulda SWORN it was farther...
April 30, 200421 yr Author The video does it no justice. I think I need to increase the frequency and bring it up to / near full excursion with about 45 Hz or so. That might actually show up better. I'll try that the next time I get bored at the house.
April 30, 200421 yr yeah nick you need to get a good video at full excursion. that video is not even close to looking like it does in real life. if you saw it in person you would probably poop yourself.

Haha, see, I'm not totally full of it. Steve saw a 15" a full stroke and just about pooped himself. It's really nuts when you see it in person.
April 30, 200421 yr Reminds of the video u made when u 1st came out with Mags, u had plugged it in a wall socket, now that was kool!
April 30, 200421 yr Author Haha, yeah, that was cool. ~2800 watts on a fresh, non-broken-in, Magnum. That was definately cool.
