Posted June 12, 200718 yr first off is it better to stick w/ the same brand when dealin w/ amps for a system? i plan on purchasing the pioneer premier ts-c720prs comps powered by the zed audio gladius burr brown. i have a 10w7 (for testing purposes) and my friend says if i go w/ the gladius for comps i should get another zed for the sub. so now im thinkin bout doin two ppi art series ampsthx in advance Edited June 13, 200718 yr by joshuamac
June 12, 200718 yr It's only a visual thing. Other than how nice it looks when all them amps match, there is no reason to stick with one brand of amp.
June 12, 200718 yr Author o ok well what kinda power should i send the w7? around 500w im thinkin. if so, what r some good amps around that power output? im lookin at the zed audio Minilith, ppi art a600.2, or a zapco Edited June 12, 200718 yr by joshuamac
June 12, 200718 yr Author yea but they recommend 500w for "optimum performance". didnt know how accurate that was cause the w7 is power hungry but that should be plenty i guess Edited June 12, 200718 yr by joshuamac
June 13, 200718 yr A Minilith won't give you that much power into the load that sub will present the amp. 2 of them strapped would give you around 800 though.
June 13, 200718 yr Author do u suggest that much power? cause as im sure u prlly already know the mini has typical continuous output power @1 ohm of 650w x 1 Edited June 13, 200718 yr by joshuamac
June 13, 200718 yr The W7 is a 3 ohm sub. Strapped each one is going to see a 1.5 ohm load. The amp should do 400W into 1.5 ohms. 2 of them would give you 800W. If you've got the $ that would be a nice way to go. Plenty of power in reserve.
