Can someone recommend me a good pioneer headunit? I'm trying to keep it on the cheap side, around 100-130 bucks. It will be used in a '95 suburban and i was also going to be running 2 12" L7s (not sure if that matters). I just want it to sound good and go well with my subs.

If i dont get a new one and just keep the stock one, will it sound pretty bad?

not necessarily bad, but far from as good as it could be. get the pioneer, you'll be glad you did. especially if it has onboard xovers so that you tune out the lows from the other speakers, that'll clean the sound up nicely.

wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee :slayer:

you can keep the stock HU, and if all you want is more bass you'll get it

but like mrray13 said crossovers are a big plus especially when adding a subwoofer since you no longer need to rely on door speakers for bass

what usually happens since your stock HU doesn't have crossovers you end up having to turn down the bass on your HU which will lower the output of your amp which in turn forces you to turn up the gain, which isnt bad but definetly not ideal

its pretty easy to hack into a stock system and add a sub and amp, so try it and see if it suits you

if you end up wanting better sound at least you'll already have the wiring ran for your amp

I agree.... I would get the 5900ub. Being a Pioneer its pretty solid.
