Ok, so i get a call from my friend asking if i could fix his other friends mess up of trying to put in his H/U. I go over hoping he didnt do some of my earlier mistakes, which he did, he cut the factory harness trying to hardwire it......

i gave him 3 options:

1: try to rewire his factory harness which could be a while since its a GM

2: wire the H/U itself skipping the factory harness

3: trace each wire and figure them out, yet again skipping the harness and wiring everything to the back of the H/U

We decided 2 would be the easiest solution *98 s10 ext.* and i was wondering if my plan was good and if he was going to lose any basic functions....

I'll wire the ground to a ground of course, the constant to a fused connection off the batt, and the hot off his ignition. There are no amps to be ran so the pwr ant would be left alone. Pull the door panels off and wire them to the cd player, then the same with the rear speakers. He is ok with losing his dash speakers.

I just want to know if this will work and he wont lose any functions.

And to make sure im right, red is hot, yellow is constant right?

just hook the speakers up to an amp and run RCA's no need for any useless wires, all u need is power and ground

But the oem wires should still all be there, im kinda lost?

got it done, took 6-7 hours *lost track* but everything works the way it would with a harness adapter. Biggest pain was trying to fit the wiring through the firewall. As for the ground, i found a mount for the steering column that was real close that i grounded to.

I officially know to much about s10's now.....
