Hey this is my first post, and off the bat let me say I am no audio genius nor am I close. I was refered here by Helotaxi, and I'm sure you guys can answer any questions I have.

So that said, I am in the market for a Audio/Video head unit, that has Ipod control, mp3,cds, and all that good stuff. Someone on my car forums (SRTForums.com) was selling a Pioneer AVH 57000 I believe for 500$. It has the ipod adapter already, and the switch so you can watch while on the road. Anyways I was wondering if you guys could point me in the direction of a great AV unit for around that price, or if you have any tips or anything else.

Thanks You.

I've owned that unit, and while it is alright, I much prefer the Alpine units, especially their pulsetouch feature.

Which Alpine unit, and I have read about the pulsetouch I thought it was really neat. Can you give me an Alpine competitor unit in the price range, give or take some not that big of a deal.

Also I forgot to mention I would like something that you can hook up a navi or back up camera to later, because I will add those down the line, atleast the Navi I will.

Thanks.

I'm getting a Kenwood DDX8019 H/U with the KNA-G510 nav unit along with a Boyo VTL300 reverse camera installed this Thursday. I should get it back on Friday so I'll let you know how it is. I've always found Excelon's to be pretty good though.

That will definitely be something I would like to hear about. Please keep me informed, I appreciate it.

Anyone else have any tips or advice. Im just looking for a good decent model for under a grand. Any help is appreciated.

The Kenwood DDX8019 works great. The sound quality is good, the picture is nice, and it's simple enough to use. I especially like the nav because it's based on the Garmin units so it's quite easy to navigate. The only bad thing is that the screen gets full of fingerprints very fast but that's because it is a touchscreen. I got a Zapco DC360.4 powering my Zapco separates running full active and a DC500.1 powering a JL Audio 10W6v2. I never thought the one 10" would be so loud. I guess because my cabin is so small and my car is a hatch (Nissan 350Z). I get very little trunk rattle and the system plays louder than I can stand to listen so I'm happy.
