Question for yall: I just got my saz-1500d, hooked it up, all is good. With my previous amp, I use a kicker kx3 xover for the linedriver/bass knob features on it. Just for kicks, I hooked up the kicker bass knob to the sundown amp. It works fine, but when I turn the knob up over halfway, rather than increase gain, it decreases gain. It does get to the same volume level that the sundown knob gets to, I'm just wondering if it will hurt anything to use the kicker as it is already cut into my dash. Thanks for replies.

Sounds like it should be fine as long as you aren't sending too much RCA voltage into the 1500D through the line driver.

The behavior you are experiencing *may* be some kind of protection in the line-driver unit to keep people from damaging their equipment. That is my only guess as to why it would begin to decrease the output level.

Actually, I'm not using the crossover at all, I am plugging the Kicker gain knob that came with the crossover into the 1500 d and the behaviour I described earlier is what is happening. My question still stands... will it hurt the amp to use the kicker knob plugged into the sundown remote input?Thanks

I wouldn't continue to used it. Most manufacters will tell you to only use their remote to control amps, crossovers, etc. for that reason and others. I would suggest that you try locating a replacement. You have to take into thought that the bass boost circuit varies from amp to even though they all do the same thing. The amount of bass boost the amp has may be different from another and the potientometer might also be different. It just sounds like the control increases faster than that of the amp because it is a different brand. Have you ever had an amp where the knob would keep turning and whatever you controlled reached the limit and started over. It kinda sounds like the problem you are having. Like I said earlier to avoid any problems I would just get a knob that was meant to be used on that particular component. Things like that voids warranties and put you at risk of messing up something.

i wouldnt use it at all...it's called SQUARE waves and they kill your subs. instead of the amp producing the normal sine waves to the subwoofer, it will send square waves at peak with the bass boost knob up. this is also considered "clipping" which at times can be a square wave doubling or even tripling your amps total power which in turn means burnt subs...!
