    3 box designs for 2 btl 12's

Most likely 4k, 6k sounds like way too much. Is NET internal airspace? I can get 96 sqin of port and 3 cubes each. Is the RE box calculator reliable? Why does it look like there is an extra side on the top?

    3 box designs for 2 btl 12's

Foreward fire in a trunk, which of these three boxes are better. The smaller the box the closer the back of the box is from the back of the sub. All are from RE's box calculator. Each box has 16 square inches of port per cubic foot, the first two are off by -.003- & +.008 sq in. The box is 23-26 deep, is that bad for dampening? How far should the back of the magnet be from the box? 2 Fi BTL 12" 4-6kw @ 1ohm 2.46 cubic feet each @ 34.75 HZ with 78.75 square inches of port, box face is 17 x 37. Port 5.25 x 15. 1" MDF/1.25" spacing. 2.719 cubic feet each @ 32.78 HZ with 87 square inches of port, box face is 16.5 x 37. Port 14.5 x 6. 1" MDF/1" spacing. 2.8125 cubic feet @ 32.7 HZ with 90 square inches of port, box face is 17 x 37. Port 15 x 6. 1" MDF/1 & 1.25" spacing.
  3. That looks really fly, except for the cereal box rims LOL.

If I know 12" specs can I get 10" specs?

    Oh, right, surface area. It's an Eclipse SW8000, Eclipse Tech told me 1.75 cf for a 12" & 30hz tune and it's displacement is .12. It's a 12" sub with .12 so I thought the 10" would be .1.
  5. If a 12" needs 1.75 cubes and has a displacement of .12, does the same model 10" need 1.4 and has a displacement of .096? Do you multiply 1.75 & .12 by .2 because there is a 20% size increase from 10 to 12?

In an SUV, either 16 upfire/sealed/not past the window line Eclipse SW8200 12"s in a 4x4 shape all with 1.75 cubes per on 10kW ($3200 for subs, the cheaper one but I'd still like to hear it), or 4 LMS Ultra 18"s walled facing foreward in 32 cubes @ 30hz with 20,000w, but then you can't see out the back. Maybe 4 LMS Ultra 18"s sealed/upfire with 16 cubes on 40kW if they'll handle it. I'd like to hear 16 sealed GZ nuclear 12"s 72kW RMS. 17. Whats your dream car? An SUV that can fit 16 12's that I can afford to drive, and a single seater street legal F-1 looking thing that's a bit higher off than ground than on race day, the new Camaro looks good too. 18. YOUR LOCAL CAR AUDIO SHOPS

At one shop I went to, they didn't build boxes or do fiberglass. I asked about a high powered amp and was told a kicker 2500 for 5000, I said they are on ebay for maybe 400, I was told the 5000 is better because it has a 1 or 2 year warranty, you could buy 10 of them off ebay with 5000! I asked about a box for my 1500w sub and was told that these two smaller subs in a box for 475 was better, they were on sale clarion shallow mount 10's in a triangle box or something. I carried the sub in and they've never seen a sub like that.

    3 box designs for 2 btl 12's

I'm using 1" and a double baffle, bracing will take up space and airflow. If I use more airspace will it get lower and/or louder? What happends when you use too much airspace? Fi now says a maximum of 3 cubes. Can I coat the inside with resin or will it crack over time? Does styrofoam work for deadening? Can you get a trunk to not rattle completely? I could use 2 10's and put maybe 2-6" on all trunk facing sides, what's the difference between something with heavy deadening and one without? Can you have too much deadening? I thought the goal was to only pressurize the cabin and not the trunk and still use the trunk for airspace. I'm going to use rabbit joints, I'm not sure if they should be .25 or .5", I want no corners sticking out. I wanted even spacing around the subs for looks so I won't do 2.8. Some people are using 2.7 on 3kw, read that somewhere. My other sub was 1.7 or 2.2. I really wanted to use 4 sealed eclipse 12's on 3000w cuz iv heard them get looooww but they cant all face foreward. I'd use 3/4" for those, 1.75 each, what would happen if i faced two into in the cabin and two upfire at the back of the trunk? Is there a 90 degree phase? I heard upfire sucks. I used a sealed compvr 15 upfire in a trunk and it wasn't loud enough to tell. I think 4 12's sealed on 3kw will qualify for SQ and 1.75 is a 30hz tune.
  9. RE XXXv3

    I want my 20 hertz.

If you tune at 20hz you will get more rattle-bass than sound bass. If you tune at 20hz and play music that's 30hz it'll be unreliable because most stuff is above 20. Tune at 30 and let the throw take over when it's past 30, you'll want a strong motor for that.
  10. RE XXXv3

    I want my 20 hertz.

The Eclipse SW8200 in a 1.75 cubic foot sealed box is tuned at 30hz says Eclipse Tech, you wouldn't want to go any lower. I used two in a sealed box with 1.2 each and they were better at 20hz than 30hz, they are bottom end monsters. Two were better in a sealed box than my 05 RE XXX 12 on 1500W, they got 375 each, not bad. The magnet is 200oz they're svc 4 ohm only with 38mm x-max, it's a TC sounds LMS design. I used one in a small ported box and it was OK on 750W.

    YOU KNOW YOU DID THIS

Why does everyone turn their stereo up at stop lights? My stereo is cranked way before I stop LOL! Turn down your stereo if it's nearing 8pm (legal curfew in Canada is 9), and in the city around business buildings. Suburbs can suck one in the day, 1) nobodys home and if you are you shouldn't be, and 2) suburbs are quiet enough, so why complain? My 12" on 1500W in a trunk was heard from 1/4 mile away while I was driving 80km/h and when I'm beside people it resonates their car so bad so I turn it down. I live in a rural area so I keep it cranked. Here, if you drive into town which is one road, the whole town can hear it, and that's bad, my stereo was in the top 3 lol. You should stand outside of your car with the windows up and see how loud you can have it without it being a nuisence, it'll probably be around 125db. I could barely hear my old subs outside the car with 2 sealed 12's on 750w it just rattled everything and wasn't a nuisence. It takes atleast 2 12's and 3000W, windows down, deadening, cranked to have some authority. 160db isn't that loud at 57hz. The lower the octave, the longer the wave is carried, and the louder it will seem. It's not fair that we can't listen to music loud with more Harleys than systems. Loud exhausts mean nothing, there is no point in having one, there is a point in having a loud stereo. If you think Harleys need to be loud, you have an ego problem. Everybody here is hating on the guy that doesn't turn down his stereo but deep down you all know that you love it so shutup. It's a hell of a lot easier to get noticed in a fly car with knock. One time I pulled up to a light and this hot girl did an owl-look back, girls love bass.

What is LOW frequency to you guys?

Get a woofer designed for a sealed box and give it lots of space. Put it in your house on a plate amp that can switch between 14-27-33 hertz or close to, from partsexpress etc. There is almost no output below 20hz it's just rumbles, at that point all that is making your bass is how much force the woofer has, either a strong motor or lots of linear movement, so it'll take atleast 4 12's to do something decent. Try Eclipse SW8200's. With 2 of them the loudest note was something like 22hz in my car. It was kind of flat from 20-45 and it was louder at 35hz, but at 18-22hz it just got stupid, and only something like 1.2 cf each, 30hz is around 1.75 says Eclipse tech. It shook the car violently, more than a ported box would have tuned around 20hz.
  13. Can they perform in 1.75CF3 after displacement? What is the displacement? Can a box that is .75" MDF hold 7000W? Would it be wise to put a .75" piece between 4 of these? How much port area is needed? I can do 10, 11, 12" aeroports, or two (if theres a .75 bracing between 4) 8", etc. How much port area is needed for 1.75cf3 after displacements? I was going to use 4 sealed Eclipse SW8200's with a 3000.1, E Tech says NO ported, but I could put 1 huge aeroport through the back seat @ 47hz for SPL and insert a piece of cylindrical styrofoam for 30hz again, subs up, port into the cabin hitting the front seat divider. It would be badass if I did that but not if I could get Xcons on 7000W @ 30ish tuning sealed, and 47ish ported, right? Has anybody tried 1.75 sealed or ported? Thanks a bunch.

I fried the tinsels on my 2005 RE XXX 12D2. I don't know where to get a re-cone or what to do with it. I was going to get 2 BTL 15's and put them in a trunk on 5000W or whatever I could afford, I don't want to buy over 1 extra battery. Can you re-cone a 12 to an 18? Would an 18 on 1500-2000 W ported (through the seat) be plenty? It would save hella on everything, I bought it for $350 and used it for a year in a 1.7 cf3 box @ 37hz, it didn't drop but it had rich and neutral sound. I don't like the tinsels being exposed, they should have sewn them into the voice coil. Can they handle 2000W? 2500? 3000? My plan was to have atleast 3000W, and more cone area than 2 12's.

    4-12" Xcon box

I'll use rabbit joints so the box should hold. I already have SW8200's. For SW's 1.75 sealed = 30hz, so I want to use two aeroports sticking through the seat so when I want an SPL tune I won't have to switch anything out, I'll put a cylindrical piece of styrofoam in the ports for daily. I guessed that 47hz was my resonant frequency and it could be 45-60. I drive an Alero 4-door. I tried 2 SW's in 1.2cf3 each in my old Sunfire on 375W each and they hammer 20-30hz like its going out of style and that box was tuned around 38hz. I had one in a ported box on 750W 2.2cf3 @ 37hz and it didn't go much past 30hz, so I'm thinking I either want a sealed tune of 30hz and an SPL tune of 30hz, I could even use one sealed box @ 30 and the other at 40hz.
