to me those window type braces in theory seem like it would obstruck the free flow of air
how about a " + " shape brace instead

aw crap , u must have wanted to kick your own ass when that happen lol , it happens to all of us
next time : position the sub , mark holes with a pecil or marker , remove sub , predrill the holes & use a lowlower speed on the drill

its challenging to read what u typed
assuming ur sub is dual 2ohms how about this , its considerably less than ur budget

the guy can buy whatever he wants , 2k is a guideline
what is wrong with that ?
what is ur amp recommendation for him ?

um i'm not sure if ur kidding with me or really want to know but if u worked with 1 u will know why i said that
i have used a clean 3k on it with no problem but i wouldnt go about telling everybody to do like me when its a 1500wrms rated sub so 2k is fine

amp budget & sub coil configuration ?
i have experience with DP 18s , they can handle alot more than rated , i wouldnt recommend anything less than a clean 2000wrms
0 -
wow that sucks
i hope they attend to your problem asap

probably got busy & forget to reply u but still they shud have better standards than that though
i have some experience with DP 18s & imho i wouldn't use less than the 6.5 they recommended
these 18s seem to prefer bigger enclosures & u will loose considerable low end with a smaller than recommended box , tune ur enclosure around mid to low 30s

u can make pro audio speakers sound good in a car , enclosure type , bandpassingprocessing & plenty of clean undistorted power is the key here
personally i like when its done in a 3 way configuration : highs , upper midrange , lower midrangemidbass
like already said above the goal of doing this is really to keep up with a 150+db bassline & not really for precision sq

what model of AA subs ?

if u really intend on competing for a while u really need to save & invest in a termlab meter
spl is a very funny thing since the slightest adjustments , tuning or settings can make either a gain or actually a loss in output , this is why u need a meter to check it right away
what may sound like a good idea in theory may or may not give higher numbers in your vehicle & what works for others may not work out in your case , been there done that
if u have friends that compete too maybe u all can chip in together to buy the meter

all i'm asking for is for him to explain his technical statement so we all can learn something from it thats all
