I ordered a SSD 15 that I'm going to be installing in my 98 mustang and I'm going to be using this amp. Hifonics Brutus BRZ1200.1D, BRZ 1200.1D Class D Car Amplifier/Amp

I was thinking about just going with a sealed box. Trunk space is pretty limited in Mustangs and I wouldn't mind some extra space back there.

Ok so I went and measured the trunk and I can only do 16 for the height for sure and about 32 for width and maybe another 30 on the depth

No I'm not set on the amp. I already ordered my ssd with dual 1's so im going to need something that puts out about 1000 watts at 2 ohms for around 300 bucks. I was looking at this amp as well. Hifonics BXi1210D - Monoblock Car Amplifier, Power Amp - Sonic Electronix As for max box size, I can't say until tomorrow. I'm going to be getting a new car and the box was sized for my old trunk. So I'll post again when I have the dimensions.

Hey I ordered a SSD 15 with both BP Power and Flatwound coils that I am going to be pushing 1000 watts through with a Rockford Fosgate Prime 1000-1d amp at 2 ohms. I was wondering if the box I have planned out with the RE calculator would work with my setup. If not, some advice would be appreciated.

Hey everyone I have a quick question. How does it work with the RMS wattage and the impedance the speakers are wired to? Are they always the same RMS wattage at the different impedances you can have the speakers wired to?

I'm not sure really, I was just driving around one day and the subs got quieter until they stopped working all together. When I stopped and popped the trunk there was smoke just pouring out of the box. I wasn't running them very loud and they were only playing for about 3 minutes that time. When I took them out of the box, one of the leads on one of the coils was broken and the wire fell out of it so that speaker was only getting juice to 1 coil.

Howdy everyone. I have pretty limited experience with car audio and I was looking for some opinions on what I had in mind for my next build. (I just blew my old subs, not too sure how, but they were junk anyway.) I was looking at the SSD 15". I'm going to make a custom box thats going to be right around 4 cubic feet after displacement and tuned to 33hz. The amp I'm looking at is the Rockford Fosgate Prime R1000-1d. It's rated at 1000 watt RMS @ 2 ohms. I was thinking I would go dual 1 ohm's and wire it up to 2 ohms. Now would I have to add the flatwind coils since I would be putting it 200 watts over the RMS rating? Any criticism/opinions welcome, thanks.
