    2 x RLp-12, sealed and 2000W RMS...

Yeah it sounded great, tight and punchy. I'm a boomer, so I preferred the ported (chopped and screwed music with this setup makes reality blur) I'm not sure you'll absolutely need another amp, I've run my 12's in the same sealed box, but instead of the 3000 I had a RF 800a2 and it was more than enough.

    2 x RLp-12, sealed and 2000W RMS...

I've run my 2 rl-p 12's in about 1.8cf sealed each, with my powerbass xa300d going to both, which should be about 1500rms apiece. I've run it daily for a good year or so of play time (2 years of going in and out of my car) just fine. I keep the gains low and you can definately push it too far, but it's pretty easy to hear and it's up to you how tempting it is to crank that knob. I've also run them at 2.3cf each ported with the same amp... wow. Very loud.

    13W7 vs 2RL-p 12's

I had 2 12's in 1.75 cf each sealed, with only 400W apiece, and I would feel comfortable saying that My car was louder and cleaner than most W7 setups I've heard. Yesterday I was testing the 2 12's in 2.25cf, tuned to 30hz with about 30 sq. in. of port, and 1500w apiece... blew my box apart I admit it was the side that I was lazy and didn't put screws in so that's my own fault, but I can say that the difference between ported and sealed (oh yeah, and having almost 4x the power) is huge. My roof was flexing a good 2 inches (Thats alot in my car)

    Got a RL-p12

I say leave it and enjoy for awhile. I have 2 12's, and I beat on them pretty hard, and they both took about 2 weeks to really break in. They were about twice as loud when they were used up for a few weeks. If it doesn't satisfy you in a month, I would think about messing with stuff, I'm just lazy like that.

2 12's, low tuned port in middle, box q's?

Do you just split the length of the second port length between the 2? I've changed my box plans (2 seperate chambers with their own port) But I'd still like to know for future installs.

First Looks: Revamped RL-i 8" Driver

Damn. My cousin wanted a rlp 12, and I was thinking of sneaking in a rlp15 for me... I'm tempted to grab 2 new 8's for a work truck install.... A semi with 2 rockin 8's would be so sick....

how long for sub to ship?

Sounds like you should've got a dual 2... oh well My sub came in like 4 days I think, but mine had to come across the ocean, so I'm guessing your should be quick... Get started on that box, becuase the sub will outrun the install, trust me.

    Busy weekend coming up

Well I've got mixed reactions on it. Most say it's good, but I wont discount a couple people who have said it puts out less than rated power. i'll just push it to the back of my mind. 2 deep cycles, a 220a alt, and all 0ga wiring. If thats not enough voltage I'm not buying anything else anyway, so I'll just live with it.

    Busy weekend coming up

Sorry for the ugly pic, new camera and I dunno how to use it yet Deck: Eclipse 5423 Components: CDT EF 6.5" mids, satnet 560 crossovers, and 1" silk tweets (Iguess this would be basically a 6.5 EF set? I bought the pieces seperate, but I'm pretty sure thats what ef's have.) Also not pictured is a set of .75" silk tweeters (also cdt), they are currently installed in my car and I don't need to pull em out this round. Amp: Rockford Fosgate 800a2 (200x2 RMS @ 4 ohms for those who dont know) Subs: 12" RL-p's, got 2 of em. Amp: PowerBass XA 3000D (rated at 3000x1 RMS @ 14.4v, I've heard it may be overrated but even if its 2500w, its more than enough) Batteries: 2 Napa Bluetop copies (PITA to get batteries in Hawaii, so I hope these work good) Alt: Dominic Irragi 220Amp Extra: AudioControl Epic-160 (db meter has to be semi useful in tuning even if its not accurate, at least better than my ear. The added bass is just a plus, a big one) My alt isn't pictured either, but its sitting on my shelf, didn't feel like pulling it out. Got 50ft. of 0 gauge that needs to go in my car, along with a lot of sound deadening. The batteries are for the sole use of my stereo, I got a regular car battery to run the car. Box is undecided. Well its almost fully built, but I need to cut my speaker holes in the baffle and setup my port. If anyone can help me out heres more info:My box thread Some of it is new, some is used by me and I bought it new, and some is used by others but unused by me. Just need to fit the biggest install of my life somewheres into my busy schedule, hopefully this will be done mid next week. Oh yeah, this is my car. Its kinda hard to fit all this stuff in, but it'll be worth it.

    2 15RL-p's vs. 1 12RE SX

What kind of box will the rl-p's be in? If they go in a ported box built to spec, then I'd think they would be louder than a single 12" SX (whether you get 12" or 15" rl-p's, doesn't matter). If you have the space for a good box (rl-p's don't need that much, but they still need some room) then I would definately buy them. They will probably get pretty loud running off of that bx1000d, but definately have more potential with a bigger amp. I was running 2 12" rl-p's sealed at 400W RMS each and I hit high 133's on the TL mic (not bad for a sealed box in the trunk of a REALLY quiet car, and its a new real TL, not some lame old mic)
  11. Well I didn't want to jack CT_SRT's thread, but people were suggesting using a slot port in the middle to act as bracing. I was originally considering this, but I need to use an L shaped port to get enough port length, and I couldn't figure out how to make an L shaped port act equally on the 2 subs. I'm currently building my box, but have yet to cut into my front baffle, so sub mounting/port placement is still decidable. My external dimensions are: 15H" x 36W" x 25D" So that should give me about 7.1cf right? Can anyone help me port this? I'd like to tune to 30 hz (lower if possible) with as much port area as I can fit. Any large port tuned that low will be longer than 20" or so right? How do I turn the port 2 ways? Picture's/measurements? Box is for 2 12" rl-P's, and will be getting 1000w+ RMS apiece.

    RL-p, 1.75cubes, ported or sealed?

Hump... more like fart Certain low songs make my trunk vibrate like 2 inches... The hinge side (closest to the window) lifts up and air literally "farts" between the weatherstripping and trunk lid. Part of the reason I want to face it forward and port it. But it really compresses my eardrums while I'm driving. my friends say they can't think with the stereo on.

    RL-p, 1.75cubes, ported or sealed?

Well I have it in and semi-to my liking for now. Amp rack is temporary, got a powerbass xa 3000d coming in to run these at 500 rms apiece. Right now I have my RF punch 800a2 running them at 400x2. About a week of playtime. The box is seperated inside, with 1.74cf per sub, sealed. Impression: OH YES. Output is great for me, however I just have some "dead spots" around my car with my trunk closed. I blame it on install, I plan on turning my box forward and porting it into the cabin. But they are plenty loud for me at the moment, and they really dont have too much use, so they might even loosen up a bit more. Oh well, here are some quick pics, kinda small but I dont have much webspace left. The weigh in: Closeup: Box is higher than my trunk when closed: Some magnetization: Installed:
  15. So I finally got the courage to buy some quality speakers (my first REAL setup to me). Mike was extremely quick and helpful, and today I got a nice surprise in the form of 2 12" RL-p's waiting for me. I was slacking, honestly didn't think the subs would come in already, so me and a friend put together a box for it today. Right now its sealed with individual chambers for each sub. 1.92 cubes before displacement and 1.74 cubes after. Would it be worth it to port this? If I port it then I MIGHT be able to get 1.5cubes for each sub, but maybe less. Right now I'll be running each sub at 400watts RMS each, how will it perform in the current sealed setup? I really wish I had built this box yesterday so I can hear these subs already
