    Incriminator audio Feedback.....

It's customer service like this that is making me have such a hard time deciding who's subs I want to go with next.

    Worst Movie You've Ever Seen

I saw that the other day and was like, "What the hell?" The Watchmen WOULD have been good if it didn't drag on and on and on and on and....well, you get my point. Planet of the Dinosaurs. So bad it's good.

    Subwoofer displacement?

Thanks, guys. They aren't huge subs, so I figured the displacement wouldn't be a whole lot.
  4. I'm looking through my subs owner's manual, and I can't find the displacement. What is displacement represented as? I've Googled it every way possible and still have come up with nothing. They are Clarion SW1051's. Sorry for the noob question.

    Protocol issues

    Uhhhh....
  6. My birthday is in July and I'm trying to decide what to do with the money I get (yes, I'm 30 years old and still get money ). I do know that I want to upgrade sub/subs, but I'm not quite sure which way to go. Budget will be between $200-$250. Not sure if I could swing $300, but it's a possibility. I've got 600 @ 2 ohms to work with. The main thing is I'd like to keep the box size down as much as possible. I don't want to go over 2 cubes total, and even that's pushing it. So, I'm thinking either 2 8's or 10's in a small sealed box, or a single 10" or 12" ported. I'd love to try a 15" since I've never run one before, but I don't want to choke it down into too small of a box. I'm not looking to compete, and I'm not out to impress anyone except myself. I just want a good sounding, decently loud daily driver. I'm mainly looking at Sundown, IA and SSA.
  7. Ok, really dumb question. Could someone explain the "rolling off" thing to me? I read about it all the time, but don't understand what it means.
  8. Well, I ended up pushing my sub too hard and fried one of the tinsel leads. So now I'm rethinking what I want to do. After looking around the SSA store, I think I've decided to go with a DCON with the single 4 ohm coil option. My amp does 300 @ 4 ohms and 600 @ 2 ohms. I plan on running just a single one for now, and adding a second one in a few months (once the weather warms up and I can build a box for them). Sound like a good plan? I've been wanting to try some SSA's for a while now.
  9. No EQ. Just a bass knob.
  10. I don't know, the Dcons still have my interest. I've got a couple of questions for Denim, or anyone else with Dcon experience. 1) How much does running them sealed affect the low end? Will they still get pretty low in a sealed box? 2) Is there going to be a major difference between running them at their optimal sealed enclosure size vs the minimum? The only thing about that is I won't be using my amp's full potential. Not that it is necessarily a bad thing, I'd just like to use all of it, so to speak.
  11. Thanks guys. With all the reading I've been doing today I'm really leaning towards either a single 10" or 12" Icon. Seems like it might be the best option for keeping my box size down but still being able to get loud.
  12. 2008 Saturn Vue. It's the family vehicle, so I can't take up the whole back.

    Mileage

2008 Saturn Vue. Owned less than 3 months. It had 15,000 miles when I bought it, and now it's got just over 19,000.
  14. That was the original plan. Or two Sundown 8's. I wasn't sure how two sealed subs would compare to a single ported.

    Sealed or ported?

It's possible, you will have to take into account of the port displacement when tuning. Better off starting from scratch and building a new ported box. Then compare it to the sealed box you already have. Alright. I'll just stick with keeping it sealed and build a few new boxes, soon hopefully.

    Sealed or ported?

I picked up some BNIB 10" Clarion subs for stupid cheap. In the owners manual they have box sizes listed for SQ sealed (.5 cubes) and SQ ported (.65 cubes). I've never seen SQ ported box recommendations before. Anyways, here's something else that was in the manual. Sealed: Power Handling-Good at all frequencies Linearity-Excellent Dynamic Performance-Excellent Efficiency-Good Subsonic Output-Excellent Midbass Output-Excellent Enclosure Size-Small Ported: Power Handling-Good above tuning frequency Linearity-Good Dynamic Performance-Good Efficiency-Very Good Subsonic Output-Good Midbass Output-Very Good Enclosure Size-Medium Does this mean that these subs are more suited for sealed enclosures?I'm not interested in numbers, but would like to get metered one day just out of curiosity. I'm just wanting a decently loud, good sounding daily driver. My vehicle is our "family truckster", so I can't take up the entire back. I am currently running one of these sealed, and it's a very impressive sub.

    Sealed or ported?

Maybe a dumb question, but would it be a mistake to try and port my current box? It's .86 cubic feet, so I'm not sure if it would work or not.

    SSA Brand Subs

I'm going to pick up a pair of these for my birthday this year. July can't come soon enough. :woot: That's the plan so far anyway.
  19. As long as these are still offered as single 4 ohm in July, I'll more than likely be picking up a pair.

    Sealed or ported?

A little bit of everything, but mostly hard rock/metal.

    (4) 10" SSA Dcons

Nice. I really like how the subs are installed (two up, two down).

    Sealed or ported?

Yes. Most of my systems in the past were sealed, so I don't have much experience with listening to ported. I think there's only been one time that I ran ported, but that was YEARS ago.

    Sealed or ported?

I'm trying to decide between the SQ sealed and the SQ ported. They list 1.25 cubes for SPL ported, but I don't want to go that big. If your just worried about output then go SQ ported but if not and you like how sealed sounds then stay sealed. The best way to tell is build a box for both, build a ported SQ box for one sub now and compare it to the sealed box you already have made then make a decision. Just my .02 Yeah, I'll probably just build both and see which one I like better. If anything, it will get me a little more experience in building boxes.
