  1. my bad its only 22.5 in wide box dimensions are as follows

    57in long 24in wide and 15in tall

    all made with .75 mdf

and the port is in the front right under the box going back the length of the box. port dimesions are 4in by 22.5in

  2. Ok, well i had no idea about tuning or anything when i made my first box. its 9.5 cubic ft with 90 in of port area, and i ran the port length till about the back of the box. ( pics soon). what i was wondering is can anyone provide me with the actual formula for calculating my port length. ( so i can just plug in hz volume and port area? ive got some calculators but like to see everything out. here is what im trying to accomplish by just cutting the box.

    34 hz tuning

    7.5 cubic ft

    90in squared of port area

if i my box in a 01 grand am running from my trunk to my back seat, with the btl right in the back seat and the port under it. if i put the port in the trunk would it make it sound worse?

  3. OK, so im trying to put new 6.5's in my moms car for christmas. and her stock speakers (blown) had 2 sets of wires coming to them, they were 2 negative and 2 positive. to each speaker. and the speakers i bought have only 1 set.(1 positive and 1 negavitve). so how do i hook it up. just put both positive to the 1 on the spaker? or only use 1 set of wires?

  4. Sounds like this system ur saving up to get is going ot be a beast...

yea bought everything i need now. cept a few small things, like i may need a install kit for my car for my head unit. it was a double din so i need an adapter thing. and then just some speaker wire and amp wire. got my 0 gauge in. sub comes in on friday(october 16th) and ill build box, then amp next week and ill start bumpin.

  5. ok, made a newer design, cant post pics but its about 7 cubic feet. and its got about 110 square inches of port area. the port is accross the bottom and the sub area is above it.

  6. ok, gonna be fun fitting this in my grand am. removed the double fold backseat. and plan on put a box running all the way from the trunk to behind the driver seat here are some plans for the box its about 9-10 cubic ft right now.

    questions?

    shape dosent matter dose it?

do u think ill need some more support?

how big should i make the port?

  7. if your not going to play your system with the car off then it wont really be needed (some use it when using two different batteries but you dont have to).

then how do i wire it? parallel? thought u had to have one with another battery

you dont have to have one... it helps when you have 2 diff batterys connected and you play ur system with ur car off it helps charge each other i think from what i have read.

you probably wont play ur system with ur car off since its for a daily driver, most daily drives drive and bump, from what i have seen atleast.

you got a nice set up goin for your self man your gonna be pounding like a champ!!!

get a volt meter also to help you monitor ur voltage.

what kind of Head unit u got?

Yea i cant wait, good to know on the isolator. and yea just need a good amp wire kit and a volt meter. i got a alpine cda-9886 headunit. not sure about how much wire ill need. like if i can wire my battery and amp with an amp kit.

  9. what kind of wires do you need.. just 1/0 gauge? look in knukoncepts.com for amp kits

x2, any size up to 1/0awg use KnuKonceptz if you need 2/0awg or bigger then go get some welding wire at weldingsupply.com or weldingdepot.com

ok getting an amp wiring kit from there. and another question guys, running an isolator is fine right? seen mixed views about them and id hae to use one as i have a diff battery under the hood.

  10. ok, bought the 3000d sundown amp. ill turn the gains down a little so its about 2500 watt's. but what battery should i get now? ive got a 200 amp HO alternator, and 1 fi btl 18. also do i put a big one under the hood. or keep my stock one and get a new battery in the back? and what size battery?

  11. i have a HO 200 amp alternator. dont have any extra batteries(just havent ordered). so u got the 3000d referbished? and use it on 1 fi btl loaded right? its what im thinking of doing. and reccomend a good battery?

i am running a Kinetik hc2400..were you going th purchase the "New Heatsink" B stock SAZ 3000d?

yea thats what i was going to get. and Jay-cee i got the Hixm Coil extra. im leaning between the 2 amps. kinda want the 3000d and turn the gains down a little and have room for later. but if i get the 2000d its new and has 2 year warranty.

  12. yea man i got the 3000d and absolutly love it...yea i had to send it back in but totally wortth the wait...Db-r is excellent with customer service, free shipping from db-r to me which saved me forty bucks.. definitly recommend the Sundown..

If u go with the SAZ 2000d im pretty sure it does rated power at 12.6v which is amazing so if u have strong electrical then you will see more powwwerrr!!! fing05.gif

  13. how about this. if money dosent matter, hands down whats the best amp to power my fi btl 18?

honestly, i would really try and go for the sundown saz-2000D! i am running an 18" btl also and i have a sundown 2000D. i did alot of research on here befor i orderd and from everything i gatherd from all the guys on here SUNDOWN is a great company the amp is sweet looking i love it!

being your first setup this is what i call a big boy setup lol. So take your time on this build man, order the sundown 2000D honestly you will love it i have no doubt. if money is tight after you order ur sundown 2000d take ur time and order everything else as ur money comes be paitence it will pay off in the end!!

good idea getting ur HO alt you will need it, make sure you do the big 3 with it.

for a second battery go with like a kenetik 800 or higher or XS batteries or DEKA is pretty good from what i hear.

Knuconceptz wireing is great also and its not very expensive!

i saw that you said you will worry about ur front stage spekers later, that might be an issue if you want to get the WOW effect from the people listing to your system. if the song sounds like shit so will the bass enless ur playing a pure bass song or just some tones. i am sure this is going to be a daily driver so your gonna need a good front stage also. (go with a sundown 100.4 amp) :)

you will need to deaden your car for sure! thats were SECONDSKIN comes in look into them for sure!

if you have any questions at all theres alot of great guys on this site that can help you like they helped me!

where did u get ur amp? i saw a 3500 d from sundown from ebay for 800. money isnt really a matter. ill have a few hundred more every week. thing is i have to order everything online, using paypal.
