I watched those guys do a bust here locally some years ago. Three vans all sporting a zillion antennas each triangulated on this guy's house (he was running 5 figure wattage off of a set of Moonraker 6s ~ it was impossible NOT to hear him within several miles no matter what freq you were dialed into) Add to the way-illegal power the fact that he was operating on 27.440mHz on LSB made for some unhappy FCC guys... They left with the majority of his equipment and several fines totalling tens of thousands of $$$ were left behind for the offender in question. There was a rumor for the longest time that FCC in San Francisco got the guy he was talking to at the same time that Hollis got popped...have no clue if that was true or not, however.

Well, just being what it is made it worth the $38/shipped I paid for it. Not as good of a deal as that $40 Fosgate ramos just posted but a decent price nonetheless.

That must be my problem, too. I have used more than my fair share of tube-driven 11-meter amplifiers back in the day...

I'm still hunting some actual output numbers for that 222 SX, denim, if you happen to know them? I know it's rated for 22w X 2 @ 4 Ohms but I was under the impression that the SX-series amps would run at a fairly low resistance and give much higher wattage levels than their 4 Ohm ratings would imply? (much like the original HCCA-series amps did) I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong here but even if I am incorrect in my assumption it sounds good and for what I paid for it I can't really complain.

Don't know what that whitish looking reflection across the amp is in the picture....a glare or something from taking the pic I assume. It's not actually present on the unit itself.

I still have one of the original Punch 150s. It's a bit beat up as it has been through several owners since it was new but when it finally came to me in working condition (bought it because of what it was though I had no good use for it at the time) it got benched to verify its operational condition then went on a shelf where it currently resides. I'm not letting it go. Just recently bought an old Orion 222 SX for no other reason than it was old-school gear at a decent price. Need to clean out my closet, methinks....

Hmm....didn't look at it from that perspective. I think I have a few dozen posts on CarReview.com but my activity over there was pretty short-lived. The mods over there seem to feel if you don't run an Adire product for your substage then you're an automatic idiot and aren't worth talking to for the most part. And when it became known that I am a die-hard Kenwood loyalist I REALLY became the white elephant in the room!

I think that's a fair appraisal.
