  1. They have some affordable extensions, how would you mount them though?
  2. Ill be putting an indash Nav reciever into my wifes 2011 Nissan Xterra for Christmas, what Im looking for is usb/aux extensions to run from the back of the radio and mount in the cab (preferably in the center console). Does anyone have a prefered kit or method to do this? Ive seen a couple kits on amazon but it seems they are more for boat/RV as they have like 2.5" mounting depths. Any help is appriciated. Thanks

    enclosure help 2 SA-8s

Ive had to scrap my original idea of using a single 8 due to the port length / space limitation for where I wanted it. Ive decided to use the pair i have and not worry about the space required. Im guessing eclosure volume would be double the single so 1.2-1.5 cuft, what should my port size and length be? this will be for every day use thanks

    sa-8 box help

I have no first hand experience with it setup to run at 4ohm's, that was just what I read from the alpine website, I guess you should take all power claims like that with a grain of salt. Heres whats printed on the website Overview Class-D 1/2 Channel Operation Stackable Installation Design RMS Power (at 14.4V THD+N, 20Hz - 200Hz) Per channel into 4 ohms: 600W x 1 (0.08% THD) Per channel into 2 ohms: 600W x 1 Same Power Output - 2Ω or 4Ω Configuration PDX amplifiers have the unique capability to deliver the same power output regardless of 2Ω and 4Ω loads. This provides the ultimate in system flexibility and subwoofer configuration diversity Worst case I could just buy a D4 sub if we thought the equal power output claim was BS

    sa-8 box help

I miss typed in my original post, the speaker is a dual 2ohm, not a dual 4 as I was originally going to use two subs. The alpine pdx 1.600 says its output at 2ohm and 4 ohm is the same so I will have to just wire the SA-8 for a 4ohm load. Would this have any effect on performance if it does indeed recieve the same output at 4ohm as it would at 2ohm?

    sa-8 box help

Heres a couple pics of the space im looking at, it may be that what I have in my head is not possible, or at least not possible to do and make look clean. heres a pic of the cubby where the cd changer was It has roughly 12" of depth And 12" of height just a couple size reference shots with the SA-8 in the space

    sa-8 box help

for now ill be using an alpine pdx 1.600 since i have one left over. The area I'd like the box to go is pretty small, I guess I'd be looking at an external port. How would that change, if at all, my box size port length etc. Sorry Im new to ported enclosures.

    sa-8 box help

I have an 01 firebird and Im looking into getting a ported box built for a single SA-8 D4. There is a space in the driver side trunk area where the factory cd changer used to be, im hoping to use this space. I will not be competing in anything, just want it to sound good for daily use. What size should the enclosure be, port length and what should it be tuned to for everyday use. If there is any other info I need to know before bringing it to the builder, Im all ears. Thanks,

    Need help finding some 10s

Im not 100% dead set on the enclosure, only reason i want to keep it is the clean look of it sitting in the well area and it has the slot on the bottom front that allows me to use the t-top storage instead of having to lay them in the back seats. But if im gonna go so far as having a new ported enclosure built, I'd probably just go back up to a pair of 12's. I was really happy with the way that kicker setup sounded. Question about the external port. Im guessing instead of having the port inside the box and just seeing the opening, you would be able to see the port (tube or whatever) sticking out from the box somewhere? Am i correct? And since the box is divided internally, I would really need a port on each side?

True enough, Im not too knowledgable about this. Can an existing sealed enclosure just be modified to a ported enclosure? Heres basically what it looks like now, this is from my old Camaro, the new box is in a Firebird but its the exact same hatch area. Just the box is cut for round subs obviously instead of the Kickers. Im guessing someone who knows what they are doing (not me) could put a port in tuned to the right freq. and then just recover the box with vinyl?

    Need help finding some 10s

I have, Id like to keep the box I have now if I can find something that will work well in it. If not then I may just redo everything. I just looked at the Icon 10, looks pretty nice and the optimum enclosure volume is .9cu ft, not sure how much the extra .2 cu ft would effect the sound, but .9 is getting closer. And they are in my price range
