x2 How old are they? The pictures suggest a little bit of age. Yeah they are from 1986-1990 I was told. They are referred to as the "Holy Grail" of JBL home speakers. They were the TOP Model they produced. This was one of the quotes I found by JBL. "The speaker was designed by Greg Timbers, Steve Lyle and Lorr Kramer. It was JBL's first time aligned system and resulted in a speaker with unparalleled soundstage coherence. Unfortunately, this system was not a marketing success. It was very expensive to build and was too significant a departure in sound from JBL's horn based speakers of the past. I also know that the 14" odd ball woofer is good to 30hz so there was NO need for a sub. The cabinet is MASSIVE. They have to weigh at least 140lbs each. I can't wait to get the woofers fixed and get them set up. Awesome. Post pics when you get the bottom drivers fixed. I love older equipment. Are you using them for stereo or HT? For stereo use. I have them set-up in the basement with the weights for working out. The money I was going to use to fix them I ended up spending on a bunch of Old School Crunch subs BRAND NEW IN THE BOXES. Didn't need them but couldn't pass them up.

Anyone Else have Any of the JBL 250's. There was a 3 different versions that I know of. If so what do you have pushing them. I have just Finally acquired a pair. I'm now getting the 14" woofers re built. Thanks

Here is an example of a HIGH quality filter and a POS cheapy. Look at just the difference in size. This was on a girlfriends little 4 cylinder import.

Here is some of a 70 SS 454 I did a frame off build for a customer. After I got the frame back from powder coating I was playing around with what I thought was some cool pics. Fastest was between 190-195 even thought the car would have gone 217. I ran out of space! I tried my heart out for Many days to break the 200mph mark but Always came up short. MOST People have NO Clue at anything over 150mph how fast you come up on traffic. When I was finally able to hit the 195ish mark I was on the 14" Indy cars brakes Very hard and down shifting on the 9400rpm rev limiter before I rear ended a couple cars. The car was only 1 or 20 Porsche Carrera GT-R's built. You had to be a VIP costumer to even get on the order list. He paid $547,000 for the car. I got the thing to run 11.0's @ 129mph with VP 109 No Lead on a 103* degree day with the A/C on. Here is a couple pics of me @ the dragstrip with the car for all the non believers. The owner of the track had me come on a closed day because he was soooo nervous about that car and something happening to it. Thats why NO One is in the stands. I have about 2 hours of Sick Ass street footage of my beating the wheels off this car. You could hit the rev limiter in 2nd and be going 93-95mph. In the near future I'm going to try to spend a day uploading Digi8 and Hi8 videos onto the net. I have a shoe box full of tapes with ALL kinds of footage from the race track,car shows,street races,testing and tuning sessions.

Here is my 93 LX Coupe that is a daily driver street car. It has a 2002 Explorer 5.0 with a F cam,1.72 rockers,headers,10,000 RPM wet plate Nitrous kit,TKO-600 trans,complete suspension & rearend from 98 Cobra,13" Baer Brakes ALL the way around,ROH 17x9 & 17x10.5 Snypers. It will also have a pair of BLUES ISO-10's in the trunk on a SeriesVIII Zues. I have the make a double layer amp rack just to fit the 2 amps.

Yeah I picked up bottle of RP in the store before and thought the same thing; which is why I stick to the products with proven track records: Mobil 1, Red Line, the above stated Pennzoil Platinum, and Amsoil. WIX filters are niiiiiice Save your money and Please don't waste it on Mobil 1. They changed there base a few years back to save on cost and increase profit and it Lost A LOT of it's quality. Red Line is Great for any type of flat tappet lifter motor due to the High content of Zinc. You will see Way better UOA's with the Penzoil Platinum than the Mobil 1 I have tested and proven it to 3 or 4 of my customers now with high dollar imports.

I have Many cars myself. 93LX Coupe,65 Sport Fury (383),70 BIG tire Maverick,& 68 Impala. It was a customers car I just did a install on and finishing the tune I was referring to. I'm NOT one into spraying and telling. But I will tell you I do NO V-8 installs with Less than 175. Most of my stuff get 250-350 depending on if it's a single or double and tire/progressive controller. NX has came sooooooooo far that with the right tune it is VERY safe and NOTHING comes close to the power gains. I can take a 13 second car and make it run 10's ALL day. And on the Fram tip. They actually have been shit since the mid to early 90's when they got bought out by Allied Signal. They Lost ALL there racing heritage and major r & d on ANY type of quality back in the late 80's. Allied Signal has used this to there benefit due to the fact that No one knew any better that they went to shit. I know the QCM (Quality Control Manager) at there biggest plant and he was told to shut up and look the other way if wanted to continue to collect a check. Cut 3 of there POS filters open (same part #) they will All look different! Some filter media is dark brown and burnt while other will be white and nice looking. They actually get the media shipped from over seas. There pricing scale gets cheaper the darker it is. . . . . . . . . . . . . . JUNK 70% of there filters go into FULL Bypass in 35% of there life.

Well let me start off by telling you all I build and tune race cars for a living and have been doing so for near 10 years now. Until you actually do a UOA YOUR PISSING IN THE WIND! UOA is a Used Oil Analysis Oil filter quality makes one hell of a difference in oil life also! Royal purple is garbage! Look at one of there bottle and notice how there is NO designation for SE,SD,etc because it doesn't meet ANY. They have stated it is because it exceeds all those but WTFE. Penzoil Platinum fully Synthetic is about the Best over the counter oil. The base that they came up with a few years ago EVERYONE has now copied. The only difference is the manufactures additive packs. Amsoil is VERY good but not so easy to get. The comment about Penzoil. . . . . . Yes they WERE Shit back in the day with the wax base. I worked in machine shops for 5 years and you could see right off the bat a Old School Penzoil block because the lifter valley would be filled with a 1"-3"s of sludge. There is a Lab we use called Blackstone Laboratories to analyze our oil. If you go to their web site you can get the first one for free and the second is around $20. That is the only true way to figure out how long your car AND your driving kills the oil. We use these Small hour meters on All the race cars. Once we figure out how many hours it take to kill the oil we know when to change it. Now on the filter tip WE have done Extensive testing on this and the Best filter that is easy to get over the counter is a Napa GOLD. It is made for them by WIX. The only filter we have had better results with is the Amsoil oil filters which surprisingly enough are Also made by WIX but to a higher standard. One of the WORST oil filters out there is a FRAM!! AVOID BY ALL MEANS PERIOD I will post more when I have More time. It is BEAUTIFUL out I need to get in the shower and change a nitrous bottle time to go kill some imports on the street tonight!

God, I'm glad I started this thread!! Should have the wiring harness in the Coupe in the next couple weeks then I will begin the install of my pair of ISO-10's that will be pushed with Power From The Gods Series VIII Zues. It will be tricky though since the trunk is so small and there is a 15lb NX bottle,6 channel Aphrodite, & the Zues. I will post pics when I begin. Thanks for All the responses.

How much power did you have pushing them there? Box looks pretty cool! Also do you still have Any of the specs on these? I have managed to misplace ALL the paperwork I had on them over the years.

Well I will post some pics later if I have time.

Just depends on what color they are and the condition of the amps and boxes. Other things will make them more valuable too such as having ALL 6 mounting feet. I collect them as you can see if you view any of my posted pics. Let me know I might be interested.

Well I just scored on a Bunch of Brand New in the box Crunch Subs so I had to rearrange my ZED Closet while the Misses was out of town so she didn't see the additions to my Hoarding of ZED/Old School stuff. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I had to throw a pair of old Series 1 12's in the beater a couple days ago on a baby Punch 45 Can't believe how hard it hits for what it is. It is VERY amusing to show some of the youngsters what Old School shit will do. I made $20 from this 17 year old last night that was at my nephews house. I took the 2 of them around the block to hear them and his friend over heard us talking afterwords. He chimes in "NO WAY IS THERE A 45 Watt amp hitting like that on some 12's!" You wanna bet youngster? "I'll take $20 from you!" I opened the trunk and they are in a 3 cubic foot sealed box. He say the box and said "See I told you there was some Big Ass Shit in the trunk." I pulled the box back some away from the back seat and that Tiny Punch 45 was mounted on the top of the box. . . . . . . I just laughed and told him to pay me! He still didn't believe that that was the amp. Kids these days have NO CLUE!!
