    Pics of the BIGGEST ZED AMP MADE. . . . . . . . . . .

you MUST be like 15......... back then that was a SHIT ton of power. So when exactly was this amp released? How much did it cost? 92ish $2800-3200 in my area. In the world I'm from the RULE OF THUMB WAS $1 PER WATT FOR QUALITY AMP.

That's why I'm interested to see why in the hell he would want 4300 watts at less than 70% efficiency. That's fucktarded. You do realize that most modern Class-D amplifiers are 85-90% efficient right? Please don't tell me they have too much THD, that's a worthless measurement. Nope just Don't like the way they sound. As Steve will tell you it took him Many years to figure out how to make them not sound "flat". There is a World of difference. I can take a new Class D that is 1200-1500 watts replace it with a Series VIII Zues ot a Autotek 7600 and it will sound better and hit harder. I can deal with the power consumption. I don't need to anything near 4300 so it wouldn't ever get run that low. Shit the heat that Class D put's out at 1 or 1/2 ohm is more than the Zues at 4ohm's. My 2 cents I have tried everything over the years I have been doing this since 91-92 and haven't stopped once so believe me I have heard and tried alot of stuff over the years. If there wasn't that much difference the demand wouldn't be so high for Old School Quality Class A/B amps.

I know I have a car audio addiction when......

When you move. . . . . . . . . . You have to find a house with a Extra bedroom just to house all your amps, subs, boxes, decks, and speakers! When you buy a "new" car and can't even drive it until you at least throw a deck in it, a Pluto on some 6 X 9's and a Punch150 on a 10" sub. At least that when I realized I was F_cked for LIFE!

    Nakamichi By Zed?

If anyone is looking for a pair of Old School Nakimichi's there is TWO NEW IN THE BOX NOS on Ebay right now for pretty cheap. I think he has a buy it now for $100 or $115. They are a good mid/tweet amp or even some 6x9's. Nakamichi PA 502 Zed Audio - eBay (item 220536542778 end time Jan-13-10 06:59:41 PST)

    JBL L250's

x2 How old are they? The pictures suggest a little bit of age. Yeah they are from 1986-1990 I was told. They are referred to as the "Holy Grail" of JBL home speakers. They were the TOP Model they produced. This was one of the quotes I found by JBL. "The speaker was designed by Greg Timbers, Steve Lyle and Lorr Kramer. It was JBL's first time aligned system and resulted in a speaker with unparalleled soundstage coherence. Unfortunately, this system was not a marketing success. It was very expensive to build and was too significant a departure in sound from JBL's horn based speakers of the past. I also know that the 14" odd ball woofer is good to 30hz so there was NO need for a sub. The cabinet is MASSIVE. They have to weigh at least 140lbs each. I can't wait to get the woofers fixed and get them set up.

Chris' Wall Build in the Aviator vids p.35

I see. I haven't messed with the Aviators before. What motor does that have in it? I know a Navigator we did a few years ago we put a EMS 300 amp alt. on it. We had to cut and tig weld the factory braket to make it work. It had 2 4gauge outputs. Worked great though.

    Engine Noise.

I would move the ground also to the floor. There will be some places in the floor pan where you will see panels over lap each other so the metal is thicker. I also ALWAYS drill a small pilot hole regardless if it's a self tapper. The only other thing I would add is a external lock washer. It is serrated (basically cuts into the metal as you tighten the bolt. Do you know how to do a voltage drop? If so I would check the ground now if you want. My 2 cents Good Luck

Looks Great so far!! Curious as to your plans for the charging system? Do you plan on adding a second alt. or just upgrading the single?

In STEREO I have seen these do a little over 1600 watts x 2. And in stereo mode the distortion level is so low your ear can't even hear it. As with ALL of Zed's stuff it was way under rated. It did do around 5000 watts @ 1 ohm but WHAT'S THE POINT. There is NO need for that much power in My opinion. I have one I'm going to send to Steve soon and get it repaired. I'll post better pics and give you guys a Birth Sheet signed by Steve.

    JBL L250's

I was thinking about getting a Adcom 555 amp but wasn't sure yet. I know these things are power hungry.

    Pics of the BIGGEST ZED AMP MADE. . . . . . . . . . .

It is as ALL of Steve's amps have been. It was like .02 %thd @ 4 ohms It was 2 PA2300 in one heat sink. One of my friends had one on 4 15" Stroker's in a ASTRO van back in the day. It split the body seems where the roof panel was welded to the side panels a couple of times. That earlier response was so stupid I didn't waste time. THIS IS NOT CLASS D GARBAGE.
  24. Does anyone make a Good free air sub anymore? I have a vast collection of Amps and subs. But as hard as parts are to find now I need to get a pair of free air subs I can put in my winter commuter. Can anyone Help guide me in the right direction PLEASE? Before you ask I mostly listen to rap, hard rock, and jazz. Here is a peek of some of my collection.

ANYONE Make a Good Free Air Sub Anymore?

A pair of 12's. It's just the winter commuter so I don't want to spend alot. I have alot of different amps. So I can run something that needs alot of power @ 4 ohms on a Zues or I can run something @ 1 ohms on the Ulysisus. It's a Buick Park Av. so the trunk is on the large size so there is alot of air space. The reason why I don't want to put a box is the trunk is damp/wet due to the cancer issues it has. Thanks.
