Nissan Leaf or Total Electric in General

Normally both 14V and 42V batteries are found in the vehicles, 14 for the normal electronics and 42 for the drive and steering system, normally they are connected as well and there is a step down dc-dc converter from the 42V to 14V. There is a lot of information about it, just have to know where to look. Forums | V is for Voltage electric vehicle forum This is a great resource, thanks for the pro tip!
  2. I am seriously considering purchasing the Nissan Leaf when it comes out in Oct, its an all electric vehicle. (Link to the Leaf http://www.nissanusa.com/leaf-electric-car/battery.jsp#/details) The site doesn't list any specs on the car and I can't find any details in other articles on the internets. Does anyone know any specs on this car? Not the how far it goes, how long it takes to cahrge but, will it be 12-14 volt? Will running a system in this thing just kill the charge? (Fi Q 12" rms @ 1000w, JL 1000/1 v.2, Focal K3P UV rms @ 200w, Sundown 125.2) Really if anyone knows much about running systems in electric cars at all. Thanks!

Ok, I can look up owners manuals on one of the databases at the library, thanks, I don't know why that didn't occur to me when I was looking for voltage info. Where, though, are you getting the voltage info, I couldn't find that listed anywhere.

Again, please let me know the sources for your answers. I'd like to read up on this instead of asking the forum.

Thanks for the response. Really? Why and where did you read/hear this?
  6. I was all set to buy an Alpine PDX-4.100 for the front stage and a Rockford Fosgate Punch P1000-bd for my sub. Then I read some more about amps and i really like the feaetures on the JL audio stuff, specifically, that their amps put out consistent power at any impedance between 1.5 and 4 ohms and at any voltage between 11 and 14.4 volts. This seems to be worht the extra cash outlay. Also, I am well aware of the quality of JL products. My question: Is JL the only company that makes amps that will put out a consistent power across ohms and with different voltages? In my research, I was unable to find any other amps that did this. Thanks for your help. 7. i know jbl made amps that did the same thing with the constant power but i think it was for very high powered amps. i don't think they made any for mid/component set or any power around that range. Yeah, you're correct, as far as I know. I was more interested in the JL regulated power supply and output for the Fi sub.
  8. Your sub could be ran at 1 ohms or 4 ohms, so you could of got any amp that does 1000watts at 1 ohms but with that JL amp make sure you wire your sub to 4 ohms only. Yeah, I wanted to run it at 4ohms. I have read, and looked over the specs/science part, and from what I gathered, 4ohms is better sounding than 1ohm. I will def be running the JL at 4 ohms.
  9. Thanks Notorious and Neomsport for the recent responses. I bought the 1000/1 v2 for the Fi sub. Looking at the Sundown SAX 125.2 and 100.4 (I'd bridge it for 2 channel) for the front stage. I went with the JL becasue it had the features I wanted and it has good specs, looked at the Sundown amps but the most power you get from them at 4ohms is 900w.
  10. Hello, I tried to contact the good folks at Fisher Customs through their contact link on the website, with no luck. I'd like to purchase a sealed enclosure for my Fi Q12 Dual 2. I'd like to get in touch with the guys at Fisher and start a dialog about the build. Thanks for any and all help.

I need an encosure for my FI Q 12"

Briz E-mail Dylan Kirby for your box design first dylan@fishercustoms.com, then one Dylan designs your box you will purchase the design from him and he ill forward the design to BJ Fisher. BJ actually builds the box and Dylan designs the box. I am having my box built for an FI Q12 by BJ and just waiting for the final product. They will respond to your email, but understand they are really busy with building quality products, so just be patient and wait until they respond to your email. They both have always responded to my emails in a quick and short time period. R, Julius Thanks for the response, I will e-mail dylan. I'm not in a big hurry, I just hadn't heard anything. If I know they're working with me I can wait but as I hadn't heard anything...

  15. I don't need an amp that puts out the same power across different ohms but, I might want to run additional subs in the future and that could change ohms. Mostly I like the voltage feature, mostly. I'm not dead set on the JL but, I sure like those two features.

    amp/ohms/power question

Here is my, mostly in the future, build log: 1999 Nissan Maxima: Pioneer some crap (soon 2 b- Excelon KDC X993) Focal K2 Power 6.5 3-way 165KRX3 UV Alpine PDX-4.100 (soon 2 b- front stage amp) Fi Q12 D2 Sub Rockford Fosgate Punch P1000-bd (soon 2 b- sub amp) RAAMaudio damp/deaden custom 1.2 cuft sealed sub enclosure

    amp/ohms/power question

I just recieved my Q12 D2 and am now shopping for an amp. I'm looking at the Rockford Fosgate Punch P1000-1bd. This amp sends 1000w X 1 @ 1ohm or 250w X 1 @ 4ohms. I can run my Q12 in series and have a 4 ohm or parallel and have a 1 ohm. If I run this parallel, one of two things will happen, I don't know which, my understanding of electronics is limited, obviously. Either each voice coil will see 1000 watts, meaning 2000w are being run through the sub or each voice coil will see 500w, meaning 1000w are being run through the sub. If I run it in series, will each voice coil see 250w, meaning the sub sees 500w or will each voice coil see 125w, meaning the sub will see 250w? If the sub sees 2000w @ 1ohm, I'll move down to a 500w X 1 @ 1ohm Rockford Punch. Thanks for any and all help.

    amp/ohms/power question

Thanks, I already have my Q12 D2, I will just be waiting on my Rockford Fosgate Punch now. This. Hey look, you answered your own question briznack! lol Have fun with the Q. May the skilled craftsmen at Fi build with swift hands and may the UPS gods bless you with speedy delivery

    amp/ohms/power question

Wow, thanks for the near instantaneous responses. I am going to put in an order toot suite. Just a quick PS, thanks for the swift answers. I'm so excited to hook this thing up, much waiting and I would have probably died.
