So what makes XS Power Batteries different?

Oh how many times have I been asked that question. I wouldn't still have to be working if I had a $1 for each time I have read "all batteries are the same" on the forums. In the past I have been able to tell you the differences, and post up info on the differences......................... but now...................... I get to post up video and show some informative videos that will help you make your decisions on which batteries to purchase. I hope that these videos will allow you to make a more informed decision when you make your next purchase. Lets face it XS Power batteries are expensive and there are a lot of companies out there that are cheaper and claim to provide great performance. People ask all the time why XS Power costs so much more than some of the other batteries, and I look forward to the opportunity to show what the differences are and where costs can be cut to make a battery that appears to be the same. So, make sure to check out our YouTube channel and stay tuned for some very interesting, informative, and funny videos coming up in the near future!!! XS Power YouTube

    D5100R would replace that battery.

If your redtop is a group 34/78, then you can replace it with a D3400. If you want a battery in the back you could use another D3400 or all the way down to a D680 in the back.

Yes, that looks like a GM 4 pin oval and the VCM will work on it to allow you to charge a 16V battery set up. One thing though is that with 16V batteries you need to charge around 19.2V.

    Couple of Questions.

You should have room to run at least a D3400 under the hood, and then what ever you want to in the back. You will not have a problem with these batteries starting your car. You will actually see it start up faster than what you have now. These batteries are able to provide a lot more power instantaneously than your current batteries and they will also recover quicker.

I Have a XXXXXXX watt sytem. What battery do I need?

yes, you shouldnt have any problems at all.
  15. Nathan@XSPower

Got a new car!, Which battery to replace factory?

Looks like the D3400 would fit. It is a little smaller, so I would double check and make sure it will work for you. It is not a direct fit battery. The battery for your application is not a very common size.

    Problem with my VCM

Can you please email me pics of the install and of how the "exciter" is hooked up? With a single alternator set up on a GM application there is no need for anything extra to be hooked up. The stock wire harness will bring voltage into the L terminal on your alternator plug and this is what powers the alternator. Yours maybe totally different though, but I will have to see what you have before I can try to work through it. On 99% of the HO alt and OEM alt applications using the VCM all you need is your stock wire harness plugged into the VCM harness and then the VCM harness plugs into your alternator. Then you wire the yellow wire to the output stud on the alt with the battery cable, the black wire to the ground, and then the red wire to a fused 12V source (if running on a 12V system). Sorry if you left a message on my phone and I didn't get back to you. We have just moved our offices and warehouse and our phone system (along with a few others) is not running at 100%. If it makes it easier just PM me your # can I will give you a call. I am sure it is a simple fix as are most issues with single alt VCM set ups.

    2011 Price Increase

Hey guys I just saw the price sheet for 2011 and there is going to be a price increase due to lead prices being on the rise for the past year or so. Now would be a great time to get your batteries before the increase. Check out the SSA store now to take advantage of the 2010 prices.

    Delay in response

Just wanted to let everyone know that we are currently moving to a different location, so there may be a slight delay in the responses. The best way to reach me if you need something is by email or by phone. If you get my voice mail I am probably at the other office and will get back with you as soon as possible. I am handling things at both locations right now, so I cant be on the forums as much right now. Should have everything completed here in the next week or so and then back to business as usual. Just wanted to let everyone know.

yet another "what battery for my car" thread

For normal daily use that alt will be fine for you, but if you are going to compete and be doing demos then you will want to get a bigger alt. I say that because probably 90% of the people get a an alternator that is good for their current system, but then soon after they upgrade to more power and still have the alt for their smaller system. Its up to you, but you can't have to much power for your system. Depends on the vehicle though also. With it being a Honda if you have a V belt on it, then 180 or 190 maybe the biggest you can go with out getting a lot of belt slip.

yet another "what battery for my car" thread

The D5100R would fit in the stock location for you. For daily use this battery will be enough power for you, but if you are going to be competing or doing demos (playing straight bass tracks or slowed and boosted) you will want a little more reserve capacity (2nd battery). I would look at putting a bigger alt in there to be honest. If you get a 180amp alt you can figure around 40-50 amps going to run the car and then that only leaves you with 130-140amps max going to the system. The Sundown amps are power hungry and you will see the 1500D pulling more than 150amps.

I would suggest calling Kinetic or finding them on a forum and asking what they suggest. I can give you my suggestions, but Kinetic may not like or agree with it.

    2011 Price Increase

Pretty high compared to what? You can certainly pay less and get a battery that is close to the same size as an XS Power battery, but it will not provide the same performance.
