  1. One other thing to think about when the alternator is charging at the higher voltages while being cold, is that your battery is also cold and can take a little higher voltage. This is whey the alt can charge in the 15V range on initial start while it is cold and it not hurt the battery.

  2. When you get one you need to check the voltage, because batteries will self discharge. We always recommend charging it prior to installing it, but if it is at 12.6V or higher you can install it in the vehicle.

The reason you have to use an AGM charger is because it is an AGM battery. AGM batteries should not be charged above 14.4V or you can vent the battery. Regular old chargers charge in the 15V range which can vent the battery and ruin it. Hate to spend that money on a battery just to vent it and make it worthless. Improper charging is not covered under warranty and is very easy to diagnose.

So your suggesting that those of us with high output alternators that charge at 14.9-15v need to have our charging voltage lowered?

    Thanks for response Nathan. :drink40:

Yes, for daily use. Highest you want to charge for an extended period is 14.4V. Of course a stock alt will jump up into the 15V range when its cold, but then drops down to safe voltages. If you charge at a constant 14.9-15V then you run the chance of venting your batteries from increased charge voltage. This is the case for any sealed battery.

  4. Well I have seen a D2700 fit, but there were some modifications that were done.

If it is a 04-06, then the D5100R will fit in the stock location. If it is a 08-11 then the D2400 will fit, but the posts will be reversed. If you are doing the Big 3 (or already have) then this wouldn't be a big deal.

  5. We are out of stock on the VCM and have not definite date for getting them back in stock. Will update when they are ready to go. As above they are only for GM vehicles and no 2 wire applications.

  6. We will be out of the office October 28th through November 7th. Email will be the best way to get in contact with me during this time, because I will not be able to check my voice mails until I get back.

If you are going to be at SEMA make sure and stop by the booths 23512 & 11209. If are not going to make it to SEMA, but want to see the awesome builds and new products from around the show make sure and check out our FaceBook pages for updates!

  7. What is the difference between the "XP" and "D" series batteries? How do I know which series to buy?

D series is the more powerful series of batteries and can be used under the hood in starting applications. XP series is a high capacity/marine battery that is to be used as a secondary/supplemental power source only.

Sweet! Any idea when these will hit the market? I will be buying a batt within the next month

Being debuted at SEMA and will be shipping mid December.

  8. We do not offer a stock replacement for that application. That is a group 54 battery in the stock location. It looks like you have plenty of height clearance and pretty good clearance with the width, so the only thing limiting you is the length clearance. Not sure if you meant a D2700 when you said D2600, because we do not offer a D2600. If you can fit either the D2700 or D6500 you would be good to go.

First thing I would do is check all your connections and wiring. If you have a 160amp alt and a 1500watt system, then you should be pretty good on power. That car probably only pulls 40-50amps max for the car. Check the connections and then put in the appropriate battery and you should be good to go.

  9. We do not have a direct replacement for that application. I think you can probably fit a D6500 in the stock location though, but you would want to measure and make sure. If you can fit the D6500 in there as the starting battery, then you could get away with running a D3400 in the back. Of course the large the battery in the back the more reserve capacity you will have to make up for a lack of alternator power.

  10. I am not going to go through this in the open forum. Search through the forums and talk with who you would like and see what our reputation is for customer service. Yes, like anyone we may not be able to make everyone happy, but for the most part we go above and beyond with customer service!

  11. Well the easy answer is it just doesn't work like that. Its like trying to make one battery that does both 12 and 16V........ it just doesn't work.

Not really sure what electrical has gotten damaged with the 14v. Have had guys running it for a couple years now with no problems. Running it in my Nissan with no problems and we have customers in chevy, ford, dodge, jeep and a lot more models using it with no issues. Biggest issue is the customer has to make sure their amps can take it and have to be charging in the 16V range.
