  1. Just a crazy idea I had. Suspension isnt very tight. cone moves with ease. Still unsure of this but the coils read higher than what i usually see on a D2 coiled subwoofer, think it was close to 2.4 per coil.. thought it was a sign of being abused or worn out?? still unsure on any truth to that. either way i thought i had nothing to loose and emailed for info on a recone. Go ahead and throw that idea out the window. Buying a used subwoofer you never truly know how the person before you treated it.

Does it have alot of spider sag to it? If you look straight across the spider you can tell. That will change the reading of the coils

  2. What kind of "full power" are you looking for at 2 ohm?

Around the same output as my crossfire vr4000d. Now theirs nothing wrong with my vr but i would like to try a sundown amp.

  3. Was wondering if you guys are going to make a amp in the future thats full power (so to speak) at 2ohm instead of 1ohm? Instead of just linking 2 together

  4. ok after trying to assemble as much as i can before i put the box in the trunk, can i just use wood glue because i know i will not be able to get a drill or screwdriver on top to put the screws in

When i did mine i screwed 2x2s to the top of the sides (before putting the sides in) then slid the top on and glue/screwed up through the 2x2s into the top. Never had a problem that way

excuse the noobish question but what is a 2x2?

^^ This is the best way to do a box build inside the trunk. Without a good base to screw/nail to it probably just won't be as strong as it needs to be. Now, if it's for a low powered setup, maybe, but if you're running 1k or better I wouldn't trust the strength of the joint that tool provides. I've done a few in trunk builds, getting ready to do another for my 'lil bro and his 18" SSD in the trunk of an '08 Grand Prix and using something to reinforce the edges like the 2x2's will be now I'm doing his as well.

i will be running 3500, so using that tool will not be a good idea?

2"x2" wood like a 2x4 you can buy them at lowes/homedepot/84 lumber they come in several different lenghts just like regular 2x4s

  6. Not trying to be a douche, but have you checked your SSF? I understand the situation, but i would make sure it's not a combination with the other equipment in the situation. Don't want to have the same thing happen to the new ones.

The ssf is set at 30hz same as the box is tunned to thats also the first thing that i checked. I thought at first that i had it set lower. After talking with Thilo he assured me that they were some of the subs from a bad run that all had the same problem.

  7. how old are the subs?

Bought them around 5 months ago. I bought the 12s and then the 15" top Assembly's so i can switch form the 12s to the 15s by just switching the tops. I had the 15s in my escape and took everything out to redo the box but never got around to it cause of the all of the snow so i just threw one of the 12s in for some tunes. Now this is the kicker, after i took the first one out and contacted kyle/thilo i put the 2nd 12 in and it didn't last 5 minutes and the same thing happened. Talked to thilo on the phone and he said that there was several from a run that had that problem and they thought that they had found them all. No problem tho they are being sent out and they are going to fix/replace them and refund all my $ for shipping. Shit happens i guess :ughdunno:

  8. Do you have a rig Nick? Rock crawling and audio are my two addictions. You guys think car audio is hard on your wallet? You have to pay to play as they say.

Here is my junk. All pics are before new tires.

37" pitbull rockers, full size D44's, 4.56's,full case Detroit out back, locktight up front, Superior Evo chromolly shafts all the way around, Warn premium lockouts, rough country 4" x series lift, Savvy full corners and rockers, and tons of other things. It gets the job done but as with car audio, it is never finished. Lol

Yep I've got an XJ on 35's with no lift :)

Going to do a full width swap...arb lockers, probably 4.88's or 5.13's, exo cage...4 link rear on fox 2.0's, long arms on the front..

We like to play in the dirt :)

How do you have 35' on a XJ without a lift?

  9. Well guys maybe one of you can help me out. I have/had in my SUV a Tc sound axis 12 and was playing it on my orion 275rhcca amp at 1ohm and it was slammin UNTIL it started to rattle :WTFBubble:

So after i removed it from the box i noticed that the whole spider assembly came unglued from the basket/spider landing :jon: . Now this is my question I'm sure that its covered under warranty but what are my chances of reglueing it my self? It's not about if i can do it but rather will it be worth it in the long run so to speak. I don't think it will be a problem aligning the coil as it seems to rest snugly in one spot where the LITTLE bit of glue originally was.

I have a pair of them and I'm only using one at the moment so time of getting another one back from PE isn't a problem but

I hate the hassle of sending shit back for warranty when something like this shouldn't of happened in the first place

Also what type of glue? Simple 2part epxoy/jbweld?

    Anyways thanks in advanced,Joe

  10. I called Alpine Tech dept and they said that you have to buy the KTX-H100 IMPRINT™ Sound Manager Kit ($30) and the PXA-H100 IMPRINT audio processor($120). Once hooked up you have to take several measurements throughout out your car and once uploaded into the radio it will unlock the MultEQ setting. Seems like alot of hassle and money ontop of what the deck already cost just for the bass/treble button.

  11. My CDA-9887 is the same I've tried and i can't find the bass/treble controls either. I see in my book that it says "Depending on the connected devices, some functions and display indications do not work"

I have Sirius/Ipod/CD changer and my PAC Audio steering wheel control adapter hooked up but i unplugged everything including my rca's for my sub amp and still no basss/treble controls. Even turned off the sub woofer control and nothing.
