    Sundown SA-8 Pre-Sale

thanks, thats what I want is less power on them total. For some reason I ordered them as dual 2 ohm so Im stuck with either wiring the at 2 or 1/2 or buying another and getting 1.3. In that second vid they are at 1/2 ohm but I'd like to be able to run at 2 since its a daily driver.

    Sundown SA-8 Pre-Sale

thanks guys. So by adding that the box in the vid is actually 1.03 tuned to 38hz with 15 sq in of port. I want to do another box today any suggestions? I was thinking 1.8-2.0 around 35hz with 30 sq in of port.

I made a temp box for my two and just threw it on the back seat of my truck. All I can say is damn these things are awesome. I have them in 1.2 cubes slot ported at 34hz wired at 2 ohm on my 1500d and they can easily handle more. My port is 15 sq inches, is that enough for 2 or do I need more or less? Once my video is done uploading I'll post it hear.

I ordered mine as dual 2 to run 2 ohm on a saz1500 that should be good for them, or should I see if Jacob can change my order to dual 4 ohm so I can run 1 ohm? also what port length calculator are you guys using, they all give something different it seems?

I really like the way you vented your door pod. I may have to borrow that technique for my own build.

I was wondering what I should do as far as port style and location. Right now I'm leaning towards a slot port at the moment, but not dead set on it. Would putting both of my woofers on the passenger side with the port/ports on the drivers side. be a good or bad idea? Also what port style and location would get the most out of the box and subs. I dont have much experience with box design, so any help would be appreciated. this is a rough sketch(not correct in shape or to scale but close) of what the box would look like. The whole bottom has various curves and dips, so using it as a port wall is kinda out of the question.

They sound decent, but the install take a lot away from them. I can tell they have some potential, little details in songs show up nice and clean. Once I get the amp installed Ill give a more accurate account of thier sound.

Weather has was shitty today so I was unable to get anything done on the box. But I did install my Head Unit today. I like it so far, I figured I would since I owned it in a prior vehicle. Couple pics

yea you are right. I'll run a single 1/0 to start, I doubt it will be an issue since I plan to run the 1500 at 2 ohm. If I see I need more power then Ill run some 4 ga that I have laying around to run the 50.4 oh and the big 3 is going to be done in 2/0 so that should cover the grounds pretty well.

No real progress on the box but UPS dropped off my hertz hsk165s and dash kit today. I decided that I would do a basic install since both my factory front door speakers are blown. I will definetly redo all of this once I deaden/seal the doors and install the Sundown SAX50.4. I must say I am very impressed with the sound of the hertz, I can't wait to hear them in a proper install. anyway here are some pics of the temp install. I also installed a eclipse cd 5000 that I had laying around so I could listen to mp3s until the Kenwood arrives. btw im a pic freak as you guys will soon learn.

Thanks guys, I will definetly check out that tap plastics resin. I stumbled upon there site a few days ago and it seems like a good place to buy from. Im guessing you are talking about the roller that tap plastic sells here Bubble Buster Rollers: TAP Plastics As far as resin not needing heat, I was always under the impression that the hardener must hit a certain temp before it starts working like it should. I could be wrong though. I'll continue using the my method as it is working well for me.

This is my first time attempting any real fiberglass work, but im not scared to try it. Running the truck with the heater is working awesome, my first layer is setup nice. I will probably put another couple of layers on tonight and call it quits.

Hello from louisiana. I have been lurking here for a few weeks after being introduced to the forum by a friend. I doubt he is a member, he lurks alot. The main reason I am here is because of Sundowns SA-8, it seems to be an extremely impressive woofer and 8s have been my preference for woofers as long as I can remember. I have read most of the stickys you guys have posted and learned quite a bit from it, and I really like the way this forum is laid out. This seems to be the best audio forum I have seen and I would like to thank you guys for the effort put into making it what it is. I do have a few questions for you guys as I would like to setup my system once, correctly and have it last for a long time with minimal maintenance. Basic details The truck it will be going in is 06 silverado 1500 ext cab 5.3 stock everything, daily driver no competitions. Subs will be under the rear seat, in a mdf box made for whatever setup I go with. I will be doing the big 3 before anything else, and see if I need a new battery and/or alternater after install. I would like my system to perform well with any music, but specifically with Heavy Rock, Rap, and Country. I want a well balanced system, nothing overpowering anything else. I need some kind of rear fill, I have had frontstage only and hated it for normal daily listening. I will be using factory speaker locations for midrange Components I will most likely use 1 or 2 SA-8's (it will be sa8's just not sure how many) saz1000d saz 50.4 kenwood double din headunit not sure on model Im not sure of what midrange speakers to go with for the front, in my last vehicle I had JL xr 6.5 components and really like them, but I dont plan on spending nearly that much on mids again. That is where my main question comes in. My budget breaks down like this $5-700 head unit $5-800 subs and sub amp $5-800 mids and amp not putting a price on wires since I have most of what i need. if anybody has some suggestions or crits on what I posted please let me know, and sorry for the novel.
