So I have been given two fairly new amplifiers that have been treated poorly. My brother asked me awhile back to install stereo equipment in his car. So I did. I set the gains with a DMM and everything was fine. Well my brother decided that he wasnt get the output he wanted...I'm guessing. And turn the gains WAYYYYY up. Long story short I have two amps that arent in protection mode but I dont get any power from the speaker outs on the amp. One isnt really worth messing with but the other I would like to save. Any suggestions. I dont have the model numbers at the moment but one is a pioneer mono that puts out 300rms<one I want to save. The other is a profile that puts out 350rms< Not too concerned about. I will get the model numbers when I get home from work. Thanks, Jeremy

You think it will be pricey? I dont want to pay an arm and a leg for amp repair. I want the one because I want to get either a 10'' SSA sub or the SA-8 for my fiance's car.

I feel your pain, I have been waiting for bass since October since I took my last system out. Ouch I havent been without that long. I've been out since....december maybe. Just hard when I am getting stuff in from other places. Sub box, amp etc. and I just have to stare at it. LOL.

I like the look of all of those. It's a hard choice to make. I was even thinking about putting it in my sunglass holder which folds down like one of the pictures Bangin posted but I wouldnt even know where to begin running the wire to.

So like it says. Where do you guys have your bass knobs? What sneaky spot in your car did you hide them? Do you have them in the open? Pictures would be awesome. Trying to get some ideas.

Not to try to change your mind but any reason why you are going with Diamond subwoofers? From what I have heard of them through a friend of mine they are loud with no real sound quality to them. They make whole lot of noise but that's it. It might have been the setup he had etc. But from what I have heard I didnt think they were really sound quality based. Just my .02

That is probably your problem. I am only going to be doing 600wrms and I have 4 gauge wire. I am also going to be doing my big 3 in 1/0. I believe 8 gauge wire is good for up to about 400 or 500 wrms. I might not have it exact but I believe that is the guidelines.

Did it for me on my old system. I think its because some of the bassnotes are such powerhogs it doesnt want to put the sub in danger. That is just my guess. Someone else will probably have a more detailed and scientific explanation. Just my .02

I've had my amps mounted to my enclosure for YEARS. There is NOTHING wrong with doing this. Please dont give advice that could potentially ruins someone's equipment. Just because for some miracle you never had a problem doesnt mean that someone else will. It all depends on the amp build quality. There is no problem mounting an amp to an enclosure especially if you have a well built enclosure that doesnt flex, its not wrong information he posted just how he posted it. Ive never had a problem and others have not as well, it comes down to whether or not it is a good installation. If your wanting to be cautious then that is another story but dont turn this into another one of car audio's myths'. In the past I have ran plenty of amps on plenty of enclosures with no problems, to me its a personal preference. If you have to room to mount it to something else then I would do that but if room is lacking then mount it to enclosure (if you weary about it then take steps to protect the amplifier). Well when he says there is NOTHING wrong with doing it that is in fact misinformation due to the simple fact that it could actually cause damage to the amp. The OP had decided he had room to mount it else where why let someone convince him that it would be ok to do it anyway? Just dont want to see someone waste money if they dont have to.
