  1. I know Tang Band makes some good shallow drivers.

    Andrew

I'd never heard of them, thanks for the suggestion. They're site isn't working exactly right for me, all I can see is the tweeters and mids, every time I try clicking on subs nothing happens. I'll do some more searching and see what I can dig up.

  2. I've been looking for some 8s that have a very shallow mounting depth, to use in my doors to get some good midbass. So far all I've come up with are the JL TW5, and they're 13 inch. I'd really like to find something closer to 8 inch. I know that I could use deeper ones and glass the doors out, but then I think I would always be rubbing on them with my leg while driving. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd appreciate them.

  3. Gotta love vaporizers.Besides that I have nothing to add.

    ;)

    love the sheit but..

possession with intent to sell is not good

decriminalization is the most we can hope for. too stoned to explain why. plenty of documentaries online about it. the union: the business of getting high. fuck even pbs has a great movie on pot. called the forbidden fruit

I've got a vaporizer but its only been used a couple of times in a number of years. Its mainly just a novelty for me. What I've got against it is it completely changes the taste, and not in a good way, and I don't get near as much out of it.

  4. I put 1 one gallon paint can and 4 one quart paint cans inside the box to test how it sounds

Post a picture so I can write FAIL under it and post it in your other posts. Haha, just playin man, kinda... You do have a great box, and a great sub. I think you should listen to EVERYONE and work on your front stage.

  5. My dad worked for several cities as a health inspector for over 20 years, and he told me that the reason the cops are uneasy about legalizing it is because there is no way to definitively test for it in the field. Like with alcohol, you have a breathalyzer that can be used anywhere, it takes about a minute to get results, and the results are fairly accurate. For weed, there is no way to field test for it immediately other than symptoms, but as most of us know, different people react differently to it. My dad said that most of the cops where he worked were at least okay with pot, they just didn't want to deal with trying to pin down DUI's.

If someone is suspected of DUI, they get a field sobriety test. If they pass it, then they should be sent on their way. If they fail it, they should be brought in and given a blood/urine test. In TN if you don't consent to a blood/urine test you can have your license suspended automatically. Easy solution.

  6. Mp3 and SP don't go together really. All MP3 files are compressed, although most people, me included can't tell the difference. I use an 80g iPod classic with an Alpine deck and love it. If you really want to use FLAC (lossless) files, then you could use an external hard drive, or memory stick and plug it into a deck with USB support. I know that with my Alpine deck, you can plug in a USB stick and browse through the folders. The thing is it only supports MP3 and WMA I'm pretty sure, so you couldn't use the FLAC. As stated before, I don't think there is too much difference between 320k MP3 and FLAC, but I could be wrong.

  7. There is absolutely nothing wrong with running 2 different amps on one sub.

Additionally, matching the amps is trivial. It will not hurt the sub in any way if the signals are completely different. You will just have more loss the less they are matched in phase (shouldn't be an issue with 2 identical amps set the same). The only reason you match the level is so that each amp is running out of steam at the same time, that way one amp isn't already taxed while the other is at say 50%.

In the voicecoil, no matter how you wire it, if the signals are in phase they are additive, if they are different levels, they are still additive. If they are out of phase they begin to cancel. This doesn't really hurt anything. The coil doesn "work against itself", instead the magnetic field weakened, or not built.... It doesn't overheat anything as long as you don't exceed the thermal ratings of the coil.

There are literally millions of passive DVC home audio subwoofers around the world that have been operating on combined stereo signals (huge phase and level differentials) for decades without any issues.... As they should....

Very informative post. I've often thought about how hard it would be to do this.

  8. you'll be fine. the only time you'd really need them down is if you were doing some spl comps or something

oh ok but i was gone probaly enter a db drag this summer idk but alot of ppl i see with system 9 times out of 10 they have thier seats down and it makes a big difference

Just take out the back seat when you go to a competition then. Its not that hard, shouldn't take over ten minutes. You pull up on the bottom part and it should pop right out, then there will be a few bolts holding the back part on.

  9. Didn't get much done today except for a lot of sanding.

Here is a picture of the sub in the box:

    sub%20in%20box.jpg

My dad had these huge pieces of copper bus bar he gave me. Its like 1/2" thick by 3x10" or something close to that. I meant to get a picture but forgot, I'll put one up tomorrow. I spent some time sanding and getting it all shiny. I'm going to drill and tap about eight 1/4" holes in two pieces about 3x5" and mount ring terminals to it. I still need to get some fuses though.

  10. Looks like you've exceeded the bandwidth for your pics. I recommend Google Picasa. I don't think they even have any bandwidth limits. I was really wanting to check out the pics too, haha.

  11. what about the glue inside the enclosure?? its only on the deep notes when I can feel the air move do I smell the glue. The entire inside of my enclosure is carpeted. When I said I could smell it I was basically saying my subs where really starting to break in and hit deep.

I see recones in your future.

  12. I HAD a full set up, but upon thinking it over and finding out RE audio isnt as good as it used to be, im going back to the drawing board.

dont want to spend over $2000 for all the components. if its worth spending more though, i will.

If your talking about the RE XXX components, I got a set from Audio Savings for $269 shipped.

Also, I think I would go for a aftermarket HU, you'll get a lot more customization than with just a EQ.

  13. Ha Ha, listen to the old man. You can make more money cutting grass.

LOL, thats exactly what he said. "You could mow three yards in an hour and make $60, and we've spent over ten hours on this box."
