first your port cant be 25x3, if you use .75in mdf or other wood, you can have a max of 23.5in. -
has a cop swerved you because of your subs?

Well the two officers I got tickets from in town are the only two I know that anyone here ever complains about, maybe you only dealt with the dicks. Doesnt mean you need to bash man. Actually a few people that are pretty close to family are officers as well as they are for other people. -
I drive a Bravada ( same thing but the luxury version) I've ran subs port up, subs port back, and now im going to try sub up port back. Its what Ive liked best hearing other stereos close to mine.

First off I will reply honestly knowing what swerved means now, I got pulled over (actually it wasnt even getting pulled over) working. I used to deliver pizza and was on my way home after high school and got a call saying they needed someone to work because someone had to leave. I usually leave my stereo down in town (living in a town of 10k people) but was on my way home (in the country) and had it up. had 1 set of CDT components and mojo 12 on 1k. I got to work, clocked in, threw my shirt on, and forgot to hit my 2nd (work) eq setting on the headunit. took a delivery to the sheriff deputy on duty at the county building and he wrote me a ticket for hearing me "6blocks away" with my volume half way up. So as I handed him his food he handed me a 75 dollar ticket. (I also got one sitting in a mall parking lot demo'ing dont know how that one worked but whatever it was 75 bucks too) Now, police officers doing their job is not corrupt. When you get a license you are agreeing to their rules of the road. Just like signing a contract or signing the release form at a school. If you dont play the rules you get in trouble. Corruption is those same police officers taking money to not get people for the rules. Most officers in my town are actually extremely nice and just warn you, for example I blacked out my tail lights to almost non visible and got stopped twice for warnings for safety reasons not them being dicks. So before bashing police officers get to know them and/or laws in your area. Secondly, People are going to bash you for talking slang because to most of us it makes no sense what so ever. You can't come into a forum trying to be a thug hating on people that serve and expect respect. -
just keep in mind, port area with tuning can take up quite a bit of space (my box is 6.25cubes and after sub and port displacement its 3.95cubes for 1 15) along with your sub displacement. port area is just as important for the right sound as the box itself.
-
You need Atleast as much room from port to hatch as the port is wide. If you don't have a lot of space I'd suggest the 2 12s, since you will save the most space since ported boxes are generally large. After you choose subs you can figure out your enclosure size and port size/tuning
-
That also goes along with the low power. The bigger the enclosure (ported) easier it is for the driver to move air because there is more available and has less loading area.
-
Hope it does man. You need help you can pm me
-
18x18x18 .1ft^3 sub displacement. 2 4in ports 16in long, 4in of the 16 external 38hz, 2.3ft^3 with 25in^2 of port.
-
do you have to have a circle port?? can you use a square port??? How much room do you have?
-
1 problem, you have to have room between port and wall... roughly 6in. Do 10external tell me what you get. If its lower than 39 you'll be fine
-
If you're on a computer use the Torres box calculator. You can figure port out if box tuning. If you run a 6in Aero 19in and put 6in externally you'll be around 39hz (just guessing roughly)
-
High thirty to low forty is good punchy bass like rock or country. But you'll drop off on lows. I'd aim for 38hz
-
36hz but only 12in of port area. You need about 24-30... Otherwise you'd still choke it.
-
Weird I used the btc app on my Droid and it gave me 25hz
-
Are you wanting round or square port?
-
Because if you're running a single round port 3in diameter 12in long you'll be at ~25hz and not have enough port area
-
You're wanting Aero port?
-
Have you bought the subs already?
-
Thats how my SUV is, whenever I just cruise around with the windows down, my seat is louder, but when I demo'd my old 15s I had, I'd roll up the passenger window making that side of the truck "louder". It's always good to figure out our vehicles acoustics.
-
so playing around with my box tuning calculator and this is what I got? any inputs? Gross Volume = 6.26ft^3 Port Volume = 1.75ft^3 Physical Port Length = 33.25in Port Bends = YES Baffle Displacement = .3ft^3 Port Area = 63in^2 Port Area per Foot = 15.94in^2 Net Volume = 3.95ft^3 Tuning Frequency = 30.37hz
-
I know port tuning makes a difference. And I know what the differences are, but would there be an audible/easily noticeble difference between 30hz and 34hz tuning? For the larger amount of port area I want for my smaller box, I would have to tune around 34hz, instead of the 30hz I wanted to tune at.
-
Its like having a ported enclosure in a sealed enclosure, its harder for the sub to move air that just fills the cabin compared to the air being easier to move through an open area like a ported enclosure. Its all about the amount of air available to move and how easily the sub can move it.
-
Without the top on you wont get resonance firing up. If you can, I'd fire both towards the rear.
-
It would be a 98 bravada (s10 blazer), 15" AA Havoc, and a MB Quart Discus 1.5k
