I have 4 original DCON 12s (D4) NIB if anyone's interested. I had a build planned but that was a while ago. Besides, I found on original ICON and will be using that now. You gotta love SSA subs!

Please message me price for two, thank you

    That's good to hear. :)

    I have three 12" S4 if you're interested.. ;)
Though, I was thinking about either using them for home theater or putting two SQ 1200's strapped on them, to see what they're capable of.. lol

I would be interested in the other two if you do want to sell. Message me a price and hopefully we can work something out.

    Nice Amplifiers.

One on a pair of SSA tweeters flush mounted in the dash and one on a pair of SSA 6.5s in the doors would make for a bad ass setup !!!

    Just Saying

I will for sure try the new tweeters, depending how far I get with the rest of the install by the time they come out they may be install first. The Evil 6.5's will be installed into the kicks. This car does not come with door speakers factory, I thought it would be easier to add woofers in the kick panels rather then in the doors.

At least that's all I'm sucking, I saw that bumper sticker on your SUV, cowboys butts drive me nuts, I would have kept that to myself there Sean. Lmmfao

You have been able to get away with a lot over the past few months. This is not tolerated here. Come back in a week and hopefully contribute to the forum instead of incessantly arguing against everything Sean says.

So if I don't FOLLOW the pack and agree install is everything, I'm the close minded one. Hmm, I'm not sure I follow your logic. I think crossovers are more important. Now I'm not saying install isn't important it is but it's not everything as all the forum guys say. Let me drop some knowledge on you, here is where that wrong saying come from, guys couldn't fix the problems that cars cause with imaging, soundstage, frequency response, and off axis response with crossovers so the only thing they could change was INSTALL which is why they think it's everything. I say fix the problems with crossovers as they can do far more then install ever can. I'm sorry if I offend you, I just don't follow the same old forum pack.

So crossovers aren't part of the install? You don't need to follow the "pack" here at SSA, you need to stop arguing with everything that Sean posts. Every time you argue you do not post valid points in opposition to his. I have learned a lot from Sean, as well others over the many years I have been on this forum. I will continue to do so, you many want to start.

I tested the Auras, Faitals and some Fountek FR88EX drivers in small enclosures mounted on the far corners of the dash in my Jimmy. They are aimed on axis and I have a Focal Solid 2 powering them.

The Auras are fantastic but lacked the very upper octaves to my ears. Again the Faitals had no issues at all getting to the top of the spectrum but lacked the warmth the Auras have in spades and that I prefer to have. I ultimately ended up using the Fountek drivers as they seemed, at least to my ears, to be a fusion of some of the best properties of the Auras and Faitals.

Forgive the mess that my Jimmy is in on these pictures, it's really a beater not a show truck. Hard to keep it clean between the gravel roads and the mud/dirt/dogs/kids that are in and out of it constantly.

Also the little enclosures will be replaced by custom built fiberglass pods mounted to the sail panels when time and funds allow. Right now they work so well and are mounted securely enough that I'm not in a huge hurry to get them done.

    Awesome, thanks for sharing

  7. Thanks for the help everyone, nothing is set in stone for the equipment in this project. I am always up for trying new drivers and comparing against each other.

I tested 12 3" drivers. The Aura were one of my least favorite. Faital Pro along with Audison were two of my top favorites.

When you have 12 3" drivers to test back to back you are easily able to detect each drivers shortcomings once a standard is established.

Can you give me more install details? location of drivers, on/off axis, by how much? amplifier powering the tested drivers? do you have any install pictures? Again thanks for the input.

The best car stereo I have heard in the past 4 years ran the auras.  As with any car audio install is everything.

Same here, as well as I have built plenty of small home listening setups for people with the Auras. Obviously home vs car audio is way different.

I love the equipment list!!  I can't wait to see the build progress!

I have mixed feelings about what edouble said about the Auras. I tested a set in the Jimmy mounted on axis and all. I agree with you they're definitely not poop. To me they're amazingly smooth with very low distortion, so I used them in my sons truck. However they really do need to be mated with a tweeter and they're not going to be nearly as efficient as the Evil mids.

I also have experience with the Faitalpro 3FE25's, the ferrite version to the 3FE22 neo drivers. He's right you really don't need tweeters with them at all and it's unreal how precise and detailed they are. However the sound is colder, sterile with little warmth compared to the Auras. The response reminds me of good horn drivers, it really does. Plus they are extremely efficient though so that's another thing to keep in mind.

If you have the money to spare to order the Faitals definitely do so that you can compare them and decide which you like best for your particular install. Whichever you choose I'm certain that you'll find a use for the others in a future project.

How were the faitals mounted? Always good to hear from other experiences. I am surprised that you felt the auras needed to be paired with a tweeter. Possible to share some install pictures? Thanks again

    Is that from your house?

Yeah right from the bedroom. That is Little Traverse Bay-Lake Michigan. You can't really tell from the picture but that land across the bay is a Peninsula called Harbor Point. Across the water would be Petoskey and Bay Harbor.

It is here.  I spend $1K on a fucking snowblower and it's snowed once since and melted the next day.  Currently 47 and raining here.  Supposed to be near 60 the next couple days.

I did the same thing, gotta go pretty far north for some snow. Our place in Harbor Springs had a ton.

  10. https://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-LS3100-ENVISION-2-1-Channel-Bluetooth/dp/B008YDTRZ4

This is about the best compromise between a sound bar and bookshelf speakers that I have found.

You have two separate left and right channels that you can adjust and move to where you think sounds best. It has a wireless woofer that can be placed anywhere and puts out decent bass. It looks nice and takes up hardly any room.

Unfortunately it looks discontinued, not sure if Onkyo is coming out with an updated model.
