  1. yeah the rockford def wins in that category. the american bass is brand spankin new and was clamped at 1800rms at 1 ohm dropping to ~12v. i know the rockford might do about that (1700-1800ish) but at 14.4...plus the rockford probably wont like .5 ohms if i ever switch subs with a different impedence and the 120.1 can do it all day with decent electrical. im sure the rockford is cleaner power compared to the 120.1 as well. ahh idk guys
  2. hey all i am currently in the market for a solid 1500-2000rms amplifier to power my IA lethal injections. i have narrowed it down to either a rockford fosgate t1500bd or an american bass 120.1. I will be doing a small amount of competing but mostly just daily listening. I can get them for almost the same price but just cant decide which one would suit me better. my electrical will consist of probably just a second larger battery in the back and the big 3. give me some pros and cons of each amp if ya could! thanks!

    Hey everyone quick question!

haha well thanks for the replies guys..and i should say its "around" a 1/4 of the way up. i set the gain with a dmm at 1 ohm and used that smd gain chart to find the voltage for 1000rms. i also used an o scope and it read the same with a clipped signal no where in sight. i purchased a stinger voltage meter and just havent had the time to install it so i will get to it this weekend.

    Hey everyone quick question!

hey all. i recently upgraded my amp to an audiopipe ap1500d and it bangs..great amp for the price and i recommend them for anyone on a budget. i am running the amp at only about 1/4 gain which is roughly 1000 rms or a little more i believe. it is powering an ssa icon 12'' and is running at 1 ohm with one run of 1/0 and upgraded battery to chassis ground (1 of the big 3). my question is everything ok here? i know my electrical is lacking (external batt. and what not) but im away at college at the moment and have to drive home any time i want to do upgrades because my resources are limited here. i just want to make sure my amp is not being stressed and i am not hurting anything...i have minimal light dimming and the stock voltage meter moves only a little bit after playing it loud for a couple minutes. thanks!
  5. hey everyone...so i just installed my new audiopipe ap15001d about a week ago and am loving it! this icon is a totally different beast now! for a single 12'' it makes things rattle like crazy! i have set the gain with a dmm for about 900 watts or so (my box is 2.5 cubes tuned to 32hz with 37.5 sq inches of port so i dont have it at the full 1000 because the box is the manufactures maximum size) but recently i have noticed some poping and cracking noises coming from the sub during certain songs. now it doesnt do it on every song and there are about 3-4 that are making it do this. (head blown off by evil pimp - decaf version along with i got 5 on it - luniz the bigpimpin version) they are loud as hell but during certian parts of the song it starts to make this noise. any ideas? im pretty sure its not clipping as i went through a lot of the songs i play with the dmm hooked up to my amp to see if the voltage every exceeded the 900 watts i have it set at but on a couple of them it goes over by just a couple of volts. any ideas on whats wrong?

    Amp question!

hey everyone i am in the market for a new amp. i currently have a us amps xt1600.2 powering my ssa icon 12'' and i am ready to upgrade to something that will do closer to 1000 rms at 1 ohm. i am looking at audiopipes (cant go wrong for the price...i have heard mostly good things about them) and cant decide between the ap1000d or ap1500d. it would be nice to have the extra 500 watts of the ap1500d but i am on stock electrical except the big 3 at the moment. my question is can i just run the ap1500d at the voltage for 1000 rms at 1 ohm temporarily until i get an external battery and what not? or will it still pull more power from the electrical system regardless if its set at 1000rms? probably a dumb question but i am about to order it and would like to be sure. Thanks everyone!
  8. alright its copper clad aluminum so i should go with the 250a fuse? thanks for the reply!
  9. i was reading through the description on the ap1000 and it says that it has a in line fuse that is included along with the amp..should i use that one with the 1/0 gauge or the one that is included in the wiring kit?
  10. i think im going to go with this wiring kit http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KCA-PK0 but what fuse size do i order? i probably want one smaller than the size of the fuses on the ap1000 correct? but im not sure what that is. any help would be appreciated because im about to order this thing!!
  11. Nevermind, researched and found I can't wire a d2 sub at 2 ohms...dur. It looks like I will go with the ap1000 then. Thanks for the help!
  12. i was just literally looking at the audiopipes...but i was thinking about going with the ap1500d and running my d2 icon at 2 ohms? would that work? because it would be nice to have the ability to wire down to 1 ohm if i ever decide to add another sub and have the extra 500 watts. thanks for the suggestions!
  13. hey all i am looking to upgrade from my us amps xt1600.2 which i recently found out is highly over rated (noob purchase..my bad) to something with a more true rms rating. i am looking to spend about $250 tops and although i know that is not a very big budget i just need something that pushes closer to the 1000rms rating of my ssa icon 12''. i am looking at hifonics brand amps and have come across these two. http://www.audiosavings.com/products/Car-Amplifiers/HIFONICS-BRUTUS-BRZ1200.1D-1200w-MONO-AMPLIFIERAMP-KIT/BRZ1200.1D---XK4B1.aspx and http://www.audiosavings.com/products/Car-Amplifiers/HIFONICS-HFI1500D-1500W-MONO-CLASS-D-AMPLIFIERAMP-KIT/HFI1500D---XK4B1.aspx. these look like a good deal with free shipping and a 4 gauge wiring kit included (i now have a crappy walmart 8 gauge thing that is limiting my power so i need to upgrade to something bigger). any other suggestions would be highly appreciated! thanks!
  14. also the manual said that it has a built in lpf and hpf but im not sure if they are adjustable? i just purchased the head unit so i am still learning about it but after messing with it for about an hour i still couldnt find a way to adjust those.
  15. i apologize...this is a new hobby to me and im still learning. i understand that impedance is the ohm rating? if so the amp is at 4 ohms which on the box states that it will produce 1100 watts rms x 1 channel. the sub is wired at 4 ohms...if this is not what you mean please help me out. thanks!
