Jim, Actually mine started out as a MS1000 white - the generation right after the nickel MS1000. One of the terminal blocks was damaged during shipping. It ended up in the careful hands of PG. What started out as a simple connector swap turned into a $300 upgrade session... They replaced a lot of parts, and suffice to say she's a hotrod!!! Plus i got a nifty new fresh silkscreened plexi panel for it. My plexi however is from a TA, because the originals were no longer available. I have a lot of really cool classic amps that are rare... i need to put up pictures of them on a website. Maybe I'll add a vintage gear collection gallery to the website when we build it. Thanks for writing Jim:)

    Weird Recone Question.

What you are doing isn't completely impossible, Just takes an amazing amount of patience. The two part epoxy that holds the cone to the voice coil former is harder than fiberglass and will need ground down by hand to make a clean surface to be re-attached. Also you will have to be extremely careful with the tinsel leads as to not break them where they exit the former. That could be a big problem making the process harder. When you detatch something that is epoxied together usually one of the parts is sacrificed. I.E: either the cone or former- whichever you need less. Are you willing to possibly risk this? A very important question is the width of the magnetic gap, does the donor structure and the new structure have the same width gap. Gaps are not always the same and can differ say between SVC and DVC models- and even on any style of coil the amount of windings/wire type can affect gap tolerances. Also with re-assembly the voice coil needs to be positioned perfectly in the gap. This usually requires a specialized jig or shims. The proper height must be ascertained as well to match positioning to the top plate. Not having this correct will result in unbalanced excursion and ultimately severe damping problems. To sum this up, all is possible if you are extemely careful and patient - and of course the parts match the application. Good luck! ~Kaminari~

Welcome to the official USAmps Message Board

Hi Jeremy, I've owned US amps for over 10 years(1994)... My first amp was the original 44" US-200HC... I bought it from Dr. Crankenstein... oops, did i date myself... I competed at Daytona Spring Break with two US-2000's I held the AZ state 0-150 watt power class spl record with a single VLX-25 Pushing 6-15's I Still own Two VLX-400's and a VLX-25. I met Jack and Dirk personally once -many moons ago ...and confessed my US amps addiction... LONG LIVE US AMPS!!! -------------------------------

Thanks for the warm welcoming! Hopefully we can get some of our drivers up in Canada someday:) Actually we bought our Phoenix Gold MS1000 reference test amp from Canada... How's the weather up there??? Are there a lot of sound off's? I was surprised to not see so many scheduled for here in SoCal... Thanks for stopping by to say hello:) ~Kaminari Sound~

Actually the 24" is available with a composite cone and a dual roll surround. It is 103db sensitive and has fast transient response:)

The subs are for both applications. Each model has your choice of cone type, surround syle, and voice coil configuration. You have the ability to set the parameters for your application. SQ,SPL, or Crosstrainer. I'm sitting amongst a huge pile of packing crates and boxes at the moment, so i will try to get the office organized and than I can have visitors over. Kind om embarassed at the mess right now. But soon We'll be ready! We have a cool test bench set-up with a pair of VLX-400's, A PG MS1000, and two PCX2400's:) Were amp freaks around here as well:)

The website will be www.kaminarisound.com - This is a brand new company. Give me about 1 month to get all of the prototype drivers documented and listed. I still need to do some LEAP analysis. I will hopefully have a section up that has term-pro suggested enclosures as well. Thanks for Posting! ~Kaminari Sound~
