  1. plenty of airflow ... if i go under the seat there would be less.. but i think still enough... but what gauge would i use.. im not set on it yet, but might be the best idea for my situation.. luckily those amps are pretty small
  2. im doin a classic car, and was thinking of mounting the amp in the front of the car.. under the dash hangin upside down (ofcourse on a well attached base) not trying to save money on wiriing or anything, just wouldnt mind having it up front, and i have hydraulics in the trunk so in case there is ever an oil leak i wont have to worry about it.. also, would it get too hot under a seat? any disadvantage to running longer speaker wire? i wouldnt think so.. and what gauge speaker wire is best for say a 12 ft run? sundown 1000 is the amp btw....

    SA-8 Box Build

REALLY nice box... cant wait to see what u say it sounds like.. wanna make one for me too? :0)
  8. ok ... so i am sellin the lil shity equipement in my 63, or putting it in my daily, and i wanna actually build somethin decent.. heres the space i have to work with: width - 24" hieght - 10" (assuming sub not mounted on top) depth - 16" - can push to 18" or possibly 19-20" if needed .. im more open to the sub showing in the back now.. budget (ofcourse id like to spend less if possible, on a budget here like we all are) lets say $200-250 for sub (s) $200 for amp give or take (hoping to run 700-1k rms).. thought about aq, sundown, etc... box - $$?? hoping to find someone on here to build it for me head unit - already have a decent pioneer nothing crazy, but fits in my tissue box to hide it and ipod hooks up directly so im good that way, its about a 2 year old model front stage - 6.25s in kick panels, unsure on brand ill upgrade to yet.. i have an old school MTX thunder 275x ill run once i get to that stage.. for now, just off the head unit (might add speaker to dash board, there is a stock cut out taht fits a 5.25 i think, or 2 - 3" speakers but i want it all hidden as much as possible rear stage (none as of now, not too concerned about it) open to used equipement also as far as amp and even maybe reconed subs ive thought of everything from 2 - SA8s, 1 Fi SSD 10 or 12 (12 would be possible because in the part of the box that actually faces the back of the trunk i could really go say 14" high the box just would have to dip down after that.. or im open to about anything else.. but for the rap i dont mind the bass outweighing the front stage its how i grew up LOL.. any ideas? recomendations? plan for electronics: - big 3 - 150amp alt (this is a 63 impala, not much draw factory LOL, 45 amp generator did that stock) - 0/1 to the trunk i basically want sound, lots of bass... SPL doesnt mattter, this is a lowrider and a cruising car, not gonna be doin anything but showing it and cruising it.. bass will be for when i listen to old school rap, funk, etc.. ill turn it off for the oldies probably.. but i want to be heard when im listening to rap.. i miss the old days in high school and this is my weekend cruiser, so it will help me enjoy it to get some bass in there also, whats the best way to face the sub in this car? cant fire through the rear deck because i want it all hidden unless the trunk is open, and i also have sanco blinds on the back window which take up space thanks guys.. hopefully you can help me think of somethin good for what im tryin to do

    2 or 3 SA-8s with a 1200 ?

steve, got any specs from that box? i can beleive it was BANGIN im tryin to stay around 800-1000 rms because i dont wanna do too much to my electrical

    2 or 3 SA-8s with a 1200 ?

im too dumb to know anything about what type of box that is and all.. so 2 should be good? id rather it sounds best, so pushin 2 nicely is probably better than 3 that arent getting enough watts

    2 or 3 SA-8s with a 1200 ?

I have an area with teh following dimensions for a box 10"high prefer 9.5" 32" wide 16" deep prefer 16 but 18-20 available anyways,,, is it worth gettin the 3rd sub? will i have room? or will 2 be fine anyways ,, and 3rd wont make any sound difference? i know there is a wait on em, im already planning as i save up money its for a 63 impala.. im sik of people saying you have to use JL and all these overpriced underperforming brands, and i wanna shock people with 8s LOL ideally i would vent thru the rear deck or evenbetter through the small stock speaker hole in the top center of the back seat (i think about 6" around) with the subs facing back into the trunk, that would be WAY cool and probably be loud as hell in the car.. this is ovbiously not an spl install or anything, just cruisin and hittin shows.. i dont think i have enough depth to create a portt from behind the subs, and i know a port facing up on subs facing backwardss would be awkward, so i assume im gonna end up port facing same as subs.. another reason i was against this is that it will throw the subs to the side in the box and mess with the centered look in the trunk

is the 10" SSD the right sub for me?

no rear speaker grills stock, and dont really wanna cut some.. more thinking, more thinking.. hopefully 1000rms into a SSD12 can give me nice sound

is the 10" SSD the right sub for me?

it actually does leave space, cause i still need to leave room for other parts on teh side of the box... taht reminds me, if thats constant need for boxes, i should probably move the box in teh trunk of my daily, it side ports and only has like 1-2" before the trunk sides where its at lol.. front firing port wouldnt work because it would only have 2" or so for my impala... unless i could make it fire through the factory rear speaker grill in the middle of the seat, buit port going through the middle of the box doesnt seem likely

is the 10" SSD the right sub for me?

idealy i would fire teh port to the front of the car ... maybe to one of the sides... i wish i knew more about all this box building shit...
