  1. It did drop to 2 volts...I swear! What I did is that I check the inline fuse (on the positive wire) when I pulled it out it came apart. I think it probably wasn't making a good connection. Went to a local car shop and bought a new fuse... put it in and took the measurements today. When I adjusted (months ago) my amp I followed a tutorial about playing a 40hz tone and adjusting the voltage of the speaker terminals. I forget where I saw this and what the values were but I know I followed it to a tee. I since moved the gain upwards but just a tad. I had then followed the 1ohm voltage rating and now have my sub connected in series at 4 ohms. My gain was at around 12 and have now set it at 1 o'clock but at 4 ohm load. I don't think it's too high. Anyhoot, Thanks all for your help/guidance with this but I'll just throw that song in the garbage and listen to the 1000's of other songs I have. I'm sorry for all the newbie stuff from me and appreciate everything you guys wrote for me. I'm 46 years old and getting too old for this sh*t. Can't help it I just love music and good bass. Have so for over 30 years now. Sincere thanks
  2. Oh just got back from work and had a chance to take the following: Voltage measured on the amp terminals: car on battery - (Engine off) 12.21volts with music playing at 10/35 volume Engine on - 14.71 volts with music playing at 10/35 volume. Playing a DVD-A with the volume at 24/35 lowest i saw was 14.28volts. (After changing fuse) Playing the same song that's mentioned above: Volume at 24/35 Blasting the sub voltage dropped to 14.25volts, then, sub completely stopped working, reading was now at a constant 14.61volts. Stayed like that for 30 seconds, then, (while song was still playing), I went and dropped volume to 10 and sub came right back on. During this whole time: My amp always remained on... Green LED (POWER) was always on Red LED (PROTECT) never came on. Yellow LED (ESP INDICATOR) was always on (no idea what this is) Could there be something wrong with this one song? IS there something wrong with my system? Why does it play fine in my wife's car and my Home theater system? I'm going to have to try this song again really loud in my wife's car and on my HT. This is very frustrating! I think I'll just trash this one song.
  3. Guys, First of all thanks for your valued input and your help. I really appreciate it. Let me answer to the best I can on your questions. Car is Genesis V8 with tech package. EVERYTHING is stock (1 battery and it's in the trunk) Nothing added except my amp and sub. Here's what happens when I play that 1 song: Volume at 10/35, song plays great Volume at 20/35, bass is gone...when bass is gone bring volume back to 10 and bass comes back on. I can play the 30hz test tone at 20/35 and never cuts-off. (volume at 10 and up there's no difference in my sub output volume with that file) I can play any other song at 26/35 with no problem whatsoever. Amp setting: Gain at around 1 oclock when connected at 4 ohms (that's how it's connected now) Gain at around 12 oclock when it was connected at 1 ohm (more output this way) Subsonic filter on HPF all the way down left LPF at approx. 11 oclock IntelliQ completely off to the left - no gain I will take measurements tomorrow and post. Doing some quick tests today, I had 14.X voltage when car was idiling I had 12.x when in acc mode - car not running. I need to retake the voltage when blasting the song and will take the voltage again with the 30hz file playing too. (Is this OK?) again thanks for your help guys.
  4. It plays fine in my wife's car. It also plays fine in my HT setup. This song shakes the sh*t out of my house!
  5. I'm way to burnt to continue today and it's dark now. I'll check them all tomorrow and will get back. Can anyone try the song I posted above and see if it does it on your system? I'd appreciate any feedback of someone who tried it. Again it's the ONLY song that it does this too. I have plenty of songs that play through EXCEPT this one song. Thanks
  6. I had to do a lot of reading to know what you guys were talking about...anyway...voltage to the terminals on the amp drops "BIGTIME"!!! It drops to like 2 volts. I checked the fuse (80amp) and it was broken/loose. So bought a new one, replaced it and still dropping to 2 volts! So now I'm completely lost! Car is a V8 Genesis Battery is in the trunk and is big! Ground cable from battery to frame is 1/0 size Positive is 1/0 size also Cables (positive and negative) from battery to amp is 1AWG I played a 30hz test tone and it always plays and it lasts 1 minute. The song above won't play... WHAT'S WRONG with my system? Man all day on this thing...I just don't get it! Thanks for helping me.
  7. Guys, Need some help/advice. Here's the story... When I play this specific song my bass cuts-off. There's no more sound coming from my sub. I have 1000's of songs and this title is the ONLY one that cuts it off ALL the time. It's psybient (Chillout) music My amp is an Orion D1200 Sub is an SSA ICON 12" D2 connected in series. I tried in series (4 ohms) and parallel (1 ohm) and it still cuts-off!! My simple question is WHY? I apologize in advance for my lack of knowledge on the matter. Here's the title if you need it: (It's got major bass) http://www.sendspace.com/file/uxy0yn Artist/song title: Cell/A Figliulina
  8. Just sent you an email for a 2000D Sergio
  9. I'm glad you said that...cause I do find the sub is getting louder. Is this because it is breakin' in? How long more before full breakin? Thanks
  10. Sorry in advance for the stupid questions... I've had my ICON 12" D2 for a week today after owning an Orion 12D for 15 years. I've been playing with it very much. (Review to follow) BUT Yesterday, I changed my speaker wire from 14AWG (regular speaker wire) to 10AWG (Oxygen Free) cable. My questions is: Could this make my sub play louder and harder? I'm running it a 1ohm driven by a Orion 1200D amp. I had to turn down my gain a little cause I found it louder than with the 14 gauge wire. Am I hallucinating? Can it be that much louder? Could it make a difference? I know I'm 46 Years old but c'mon! I changed the wire cause I read somewhere that running on 1 ohm you should use a bigger cable. Since I already had some, I decided to do so. Thanks in advance
  11. ulrisa and Impious, Thank you both for the tips and feedback, I really appreciate it. I have increased my pot a little and it's ALOT better. My pot goes from a 7oclock position to a 5oclock position. It was originally set to around 2oclock position. I was freaking cause after adjusting with a DMM it was now at 11oclock position. I have it now at around noon position. I'm so afraid of raising it now...I wish it could be a little louder but am too afraid to play with it. Maybe someone can guide me or put my mind to ease abit... I am running my amp through the sub wires of the original sub (that's disconnected now) with a line converter. This line converter has 2 pots on it ( I guess one is for the left and the other for the right channel) I've set them both to about 3/4 to full. That's what the instructions said to do. Can this be adjusted? If yes HOW? Many thanks in advance.
  12. Marc, I did indeed get the sub yesterday morning. I've played all day with it yesterday and have been doing at shit load of reading. My concern was that I installed the sub and went in town to see a customer. Ride was about 45 minutes, of course I blasted a couple of songs. When I got there I got out of the car and went and touch the sub and amp and they were both hot. The sub had a little smell (I guess this is normal?) So on I went searching and found shit on clipping. Boy have I read a lot the last 24 hours... Anyways, I found that I need to adjust my amp and this is how I did it: Downloaded a 0db 40hz test tone. Plugged my digital meter in the speaker leads of the amp. (I don't have an oscilloscope) Put volume at 26out of 35 and let her rip. BTW my system has 0 distortion at full blast volume (35) I adjusted to 34volts ac. (1200watts connected to 1ohm) anyways, that's what I read to do... Boy what a difference in sound...very clean! BUT Shit... no power!!!! It is so much lower in volume...I guess I need a stronger amp? Anyways I'm very happy with the sub...it sounds better than my Orion 12D I had. (Quality wise) Of course I'm comparing a 12year old sub to brand new!!! I will put pictures up with a small review soon. Thanks for everything but I may not be done buying shit from you. A happy Canadian (old man) customer...
  13. The dimensions I gave were inside dimensions The box size is 12" x 23" x 15" Thanks
  14. Wow, thanks for responding...I was giving up on these. I have no idea what the tuning frequency is...sorry. The ports are 4"D x 14"L Of course there are 2 of them. Thanks again...
  15. Hi, Am interested in replacing 2x 10" sub in a Nuance N-200 box. The box size is 12" x 23" x 15" My primary interest is SQ. I also want deep bass. I have no idea if the dabers would sound good in the box below. Thanks in advance Here's the underside of the box...
