  1. OK, I know ported would be most peoples choice, lol. Here's the thing. I can get 8.5cubes if I keep the box below the window & seat line. That is ideally what I would love to have. That would be enough to go sealed with my 2 RL-p 18"s. My problem is, I know how I am with my bass, and I don't know if I'm going to be satisfied with a sealed box. The only way I could do a ported box is by doing a wall. I can get more than 18cubes if I went that way. My problem with that is, I like looking out my back window, lol. Not to mention that in competitions it puts me in a higher class. I don't want that either, lol.

I know I'm being difficult here, but I figured I would ask just to see what you would do, lol. Thx guys, Vic. :lildevil:

I kind of understand what your going through. I have about a good 11 cubic feet of free trunk space in the center of my 2004 Ford Crown Vic. Thats enought room for a pair of 18" RL-ps sealed, but I kind of want to try ported for the additional output I could do a wall behind the front seats, because I never ride with people in the back, but I like being able to see out my rear window.

I say do the pair sealed, you will still get a good amount of output due to cone surface area, power increase, and its not like the RL-ps are quiet sealed ;)

  2. Nice vid, I think its really the first one anyone has done with the new AA subs. I like the Arsenals, that was suppose to be my upgrade from the Assassins I had been running, but Im looking more at the Havocs now.

That was some nice flex in the Tahoe/Yukon looks loud. How does it do down low? And whats the tuning?

  3. Got my new pair of Havocs in Monday. (thanks Scott) They won't be hooked up for a while as I'm waiting on a new amp replacing my HK4000, and a new box is in the works also.

The old proto Havoc will be going for sale soon, so keep your eyes out for that or PM me if you might be interested and I'll let you know when I plan on putting it up.

Very nice "drools", those subs look massive lol. And your avatar is killing me lmao!

Not to jump subject, but that sounded excellent, what kind of mids and highs are you running?

how can you possibly get "that sounded excellent" from that? you were hearing your computer speakers....

True, but ive been looking to do a active setup with the Mach 5 mids and thats prob the only vid I have seen them playing in. True enough Im listening through computer speakers (headphones actually), I was not sure that they would produce midrange that well (knowing that they are midbass machines). I just commented on how I felt it sounded to me.

  5. the way i understand it : is the device was to recreate bass & sub Freq that was either lost of weak due to media playback...

i.e. cassett or bad recording, cheap Hu etc etc etc...

now that we have Kickass Hu, killer Cds, and mo better amps, the need for the AQ Epi has run its coruse...

try this lisen to a song with weakass bass and turn on the unit BAM in come the killer bass,

put on a song like Get Low - ying/yang twins and you will not notice the change as the bass was srtong when recorded...

    just my .02 :grouphug:

I agree, its nice to play around with but adds seriously too much distortion to the bass.

I also likes how the orginal poster considers 92, 93 to be "old school". That really makes me feel old and im only 30 ;)

  6. I was planning to do a frequency response of the unit in my car, but I'm not sure just how much info that can/will give you. Every environment is different. I could do up a nearfield response to show the actual response if that will help...

Quite understandable Mark, thats very true every car is different. I know that everything that Mach5 has put out has had very nice SQ and im pretty sure this will as well considering what it was build for. If nothing else, I just enjoy looking at it lol, its a really good looking sub, thanks for the input.

  7. very impressive, im curious how they would work sound wise in a daily app? Being SPL subs, of course I know that its not going to have the best SQ but its not design for that. Still be able to drop low? Maybe a pair running off a pair of 3000d's strapped? ;);)
