Its good to allow for 100A of current for every 1,000W of power you plan to run. Keep in mind the most cars will need about 50A to power the vehicle's electronics, so for anything over 1,500W-2,000W, we would recommend a 250A alternator. In many occasions more than one alternator may be required to continuously power a stereo at 14V at full volume. Resurrected, good information.

Will one run of 1/0 wire (front battery to back battery) be enough to supply power to a 2k with another 85x4wrms amp? I am also thinking about one run of 0 gauge instead of 1/0. Thanks

Question about crimping terminals onto 1/0 gauge

I am no electrician but I am learning. I do solder EVERYTHING. I honestly enjoy soldering and having the piece of mind that all of my connections are solid. -
Just joking around. I pushed the leaves around my car to make it look lowered lol. This is what happens when I drink cheap bear lol!

Really? Well I feel kinda dumb then lol. I thought 0 gauge was rated for 300 amps and 1/0 250 amps. Which lead me to believe 0 gauge was larger in diameter. I ha e used 1/0 many many times but never "0". Thanks Duran. Thanks for your input. I will not be pushing the 2K5 whatsoever so I should be fine with 1/0 like you Are you using 250amp fuses on the 1/0?

Very nice. What is the manufacturers name of this tool? Ebay link? Thanks -
I love all of the DIY custom work. Is that a 110v welded? I want to get welder, lathe and mill...someday. I was a fabricator years ago. I love that type of job shop work. Being a machinist pays the bills but gets boring fast. I have to chck out your mid bass thread.......

Awesome. Once the echeck clears, we will process your order. These have been a much bigger hit then I had envisioned. Yeah I was ticked off that it would not let me use my debit card.....maybe because I have a PayPal balance. I was just about to purchase a BNIB SAZ-50.4 to power my ID HLCD's. But I remembered the HLCD's are 8 ohm and the 50.4 would only give me 25 watts then. I am taking a chance on the Boss, I hope it makes my horns happy! You can run them bridged on the Boss Audio, thats what I plan on doing with my Horns when I get them (just keep the gains all the way down, headroom will be your friend). I am running the front stage active. Channel 1&2 for horns, channel 3&4 for 6.5 midbass drivers. I am using my deck to power the rear fill for now which should be about perfect. -

Does DC Power Engineering have a ho alt for my 2008 Hyundai Elantra? Thanks

I have an XCON 15D2 and a DC Power 180 amp alternator on its way to my house .....and Argent Audio is building me a 4.0 cubic enclosure with a tuned 32hz flared port Hmmmmm...... Sundown SAZ-2500D or Stetsom V 2K5E 1 ohm? 2500 watts should give me a little bit of headroom After I get the low end taken care of I will focus on the mids/highs. Build log coming soon. Oh yeah....going in a Hyundai Elantra

No doubt! It is going to be a few months yet, my fiance is expecting me to be saving for our wedding! Great, I am very anxious to hear it! I understand what you are saying. You can't manufacture a product the will not sell.

Thanks for the technical information denim. I always appreciate your input. I am 99.9% sure I will be getting the Stetsom 2k. I will be able to power dual 18's (different vehicle) in the future and not have to buy a new amp. For the meantime I will certainly have the 2k properly set up for the XCON. I am looking forward to being very pleased with this set up. I have had numerous systems in the past that I have only been, well, "ok" with. After researching the XCON I am excited to take things to a higher level of SQ and SPL. Yeah yeah I know can't have both but from my viewpoint I will, I am not competing. This is the first vehicle that I am doing an alternator upgrade with and dual batteries, I am excited. I don't know what I am doing with the front stage yet. I wish KEF was still around or MBQuart was still amazing speakers. Did you have to bring up the CMP????? LOL. The CMP12 was my dream speaker back in the day. Funny you mentioned it........I thought of XCON's as being CMP's........hitting the 140's and sounding phenomenal doing it.

denim, do you think the XCON 15D2 can handle 2500wrms daily????

Been using my dad's D40 and my phone. Wanna get a nice DSLR of my own. Check out the new Nikon line up. D3100 on the cheap. D7000 for a bit more.

XCON 15D2 in a sealed Khaotik or XCON 12D2 ported?
edouble101 posted a topic in Sound Solutions Audio (SSA®)
I want to run a Sundown SAZ1500D v.2 and a XCON 15D2. I have a 2008 Hyundai Elantra and unfortunately a 15" ported Khaotik enclosure will not fit. So my question is : do I buy a 15" sealed Khaotik enclosure or a 12" ported Khaotik enclosure? Which of the two will give me the most output when powered by a SAZ1500D v.2? Thanks! -
Great, I am going to get a hold of you this afternoon!

I have searched everywhere for a high ouput alternator for my 2008 Hyundai Elantra and nobody makes one! My stock alternator is a puny 90amp unit. I would like to be able to support +3000wrms. I plan on using a D6500 battery under the hood. By adding a second battery I would not be improving anything other than killing my alternator faster, right? Do you think I can support +3000wrms with my factory alternator and a D6500? Thank you! Eric
