Got another video from my shop, I was trying to show somebody how an LRC circuit can be used in a woofer display, it's fun to wobble a whole wall at twentyish hertz I apologize again for the taylor swift playing, I cant control what radio stations the customers want to demo for themselves Some dude says why cant you hear the bass? So I asked him if he could hear 15 Hz at 70dB in 65dB ambient noise... He replied,"i bet if I listen real hard" so I let him try lmfao

even if they were not backed up it still takes a good week for payment to process, at least a week for build lead time, and then a week to ship GOOD NEWS!! my first 2 15" BTL N's will be in on tuesday the 21st!!(according to UPS anyway lol) will be ordering 2 more in less than a week http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL926/13268475/23624058/394172037.jpg http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL926/13268475/23624058/394172038.jpg http://pic100.picturetrail.com/VOL926/13268475/23624058/394172372.jpg lots more to come!! I'm jealous of your batteries my setup is really meant to handle just over 2K watts, I might want to go bigger in my truck, nothing over 6K on two woofers tho... Im not trying to run dual alternators with these gas prices, but if I have to I wil, especially now that I got a taste for the N2 I will have to grab a few 18s Fyi if you post a picture link between [image] and [/image] the forum will follow the hyperlink and overlay the picture in your post for you. Look forward to seeing all those batteries put to good use

So first thing my fiance says when my new woofer came through the door was, "Another king kong speaker to tear apart your cars?" Lol that's all I could think about while installing it, and I suppose its as good a description as any, so I made a king kong n2 video (sorry no white girl or late night tip or whatever else is stereotypical, I gotta get a video when I can really power up the woofer later on, maybe I'll take requests ) btw nothings tuned, my highs were really screaming, sorry for the distortion in my phones mic... Note the sub isn't camera shy; it angles the mirror down so it can get some time in the limelight The thing I really like about this car is the massive blow through hole in the backseat. My gen 2 BtL really shined with that alignment, but the ports were a little bit tight for breathing room, so I designed a box that has the ports fire into the same air space, potentially leading to a 6th order effect (been dying to meter the difference with the seat on and off), we shall see... gotta get the seat back on first lol

Thanks Scott for helping me with the tracking info, FI= solid customer service!! That's good to know I ordered mine nov 2nd but my paypal wouldn't work so my fiance ordered it for me I've just been checking my front step periodically as last I heard my fiance got a voicemail stating the sub was shipping out last thursday... I need to figure out the invoice number to email nick to find out for sure. The suspense is killing me!

Sketchup has great potential with pretty good texture capability and it is quite user friendly, but seriously lacks the cleanliness and computational power of the better licensed programs, and gets glitchy when you model too extensively (in my three hour experience on my fiances HP laptop, probably would be better on my thinkpad). If you are the type to design anything or everything on a daily basis (like me) you may want to cough up the money for solidworks... not quite autoCAD but cheaper and it pays for itself in the headaches it prevents, especially in the car audio world. Let the program calculate the volumes, bracing positions, and overall mass of your enclosures (or many other applications) before you build them. Its awesome! I look forward to seeing a "personal" freeware autoCAD tho, who knows maybe I can stop paying a grand annually for SW.

One more thing: If you really want to go over the top eventually, but you cant afford to now, try and plan for upgrades wherever possible. I know I will love the sound of my BtL N2 on 2300 watts rms, but I know I may eventually upgrade to even more power if I so choose, so i built room for a second monoblock if I eventually wanted to mount a 4ch elsewhere and put two "d's" in the trunk: its ugly at this point i know but it shows how i obviously left plenty of room to accomodate two monoblocks if i want to... the auxiliary batteries are mounted to the right, so the bigger amp sits there closer to the batt at the moment

I would say that particular chronology is realistically flawed. If you are a dB drag guy, and you know how it all goes in and out of a particular vehicle, then it works. But not in the real world, as somebody is bound to say: "MY GOALS: OUTPUT = 170 dB BECUZ I WANT MAD DEEBEEZ, with 2 JL w0's BECUZ I LIKE THE COLOR AND I BROKE, in 5 cubic BEECUZ I HAS A CIVIC HATCHBACK ... what do i need theoretically, 50,000 watts? OKEEEEY thats cheap right?? HOORAY i planned my system!" Instead, do what I do EVERYDAY: :simulated conversation: Hello ma'am/sir, you would like a nice stereo system? ok lets see the car... ok you have a (insert car model) how much space in the trunk/interior space can you SACRIFICE for your sonic goals? How much money are you willing to SACRIFICE for your equipment/electrical upgrades? How much time are you willing to SACRIFICE to build it yourself or to leave it here with us? LASTLY, what are your output goals, and what facet of your listening preferences are you willing to SACRIFICE to allow all of this to fit into your given space/budget/time limits? Nobody gets a perfect system, period. And rarely is there not a major sacrifice that ppl just wont be able to make. Some ppl want their spare tire to be accesible, some ppl cant afford too much equipment, and some ppl just want it in fast. Its easy to think everyone wants an SPL setup just because they want BtLs or have 2000+ watts, but i think our friend here just wants a "daily" (when i use that word i intend to stay far away from SQ or SPL arguments) system that sounds good the first time. The alloted size of the box and budget together, when walking a very fine line, allows you to determine your equipment. You cant have your heart set on an 18" btl if you have 16" for the baffle and 2.5 cubic to work with. If you really want 6 10's then expect tuning complications compared to a single woofer arrangement. If you want to determine the best setup for your car, start by deciding what you can live with and what you can live without. Example from personal (non-professional) experience: Outside of my Q15's in my truck, ive never been big on multiple woofers, as im not much for SPL unless its at 28Hz. Therefore, for my latest personal installation, which the deadline was Dec. 2nd started Nov.11th, I calculated if I built the box in the car, I had roughly 7 cubic to cram into my trunk without blocking the tire well (huuuge trunk i know), but anytime its ported you need to err on the safe side, so estimate accordingly. After wood etc. my box is roughly 4.84 cubic @31Hz and 100 square inches of port flared with .75" PVC, (which isnt quite enough port area but i know that so i dont want to hear about it like i said its about walking the tightrope and making sacrifice) and i only knew that thanks to my $12000 dollar cad software. Most wont be privy to that, so you will have to carefully estimate. Now you can estimate a good match(s) for the volume/desired tuning you have. Now just bc i get to install $2000 systems everyday doesnt mean I will scrap that much dough for my install, so I budget for the maximum electrical load I am willing to punish my 150 amp rewound alt with. I figure i can easily run 2000 watts off three batteries with a custom built monoblock amp I have laying around, so i opted for the 15" gen 2 btl (but boy was i surprised when i had a newer btl option when it came to ordering time, so now its a N2 going in instead). If i wanted multiple woofers, I wouldnt be able to fit BtL 15's or even 12's probably, but luckily, i dont. If you saw my other posts elsewhere, i mentioned the car install isnt done as there is no woofer to install yet, though its finished for all other practical purposes, just the woofer didnt arrive in time for the car show. Also i gotta shave .25" off the bottom of the amp rack so i can actually get my spare tire out (i calculated too closely... the fiberglass i didnt plan on using added some thickness) Spares out, but i had to deflate it to 5lbs first lol... yanked the carpet off the bottom so it looks weird but itll be fixed soon enough My other choice was to turn the car into an SQ beauty, as the floors are already covered in MLV i had laying around and with center stage stock and a longggggg chassis. I couldve done 5.25 cubic tuned to 22Hz (yea thats right say something) with slightly smaller ports on a Q15 and 800-1200 rms and taken down the subsonics like it was nothing, but ive already done that, and i am willing to sacrifice the subsonics for extra output on a "higher" [low] tuning. Less strain on my vehicles electrical would be nice; its funny when ppl overload their VCM AND PCM as a result and start burning up the grounds to their engine sensors (like i just did running my bigass inverter straight from the alternator to weld my father-in-laws gas powered portable hydraulic log splitter back together out in the middle of nowhere), but its avoidable if you are willing to compromise. Wow sorry this is so long... basically you can plan your upgrades in whatever order you please, but if you dont address the fundamental limiting factors first you will just waste time redesigning and rebudgeting.

I just laugh when ppl say they want an SQ setup without knowing what that really means... obviously that was a subjective post on my part as I won't hear an N2 till next week when mine arrives, but I imagine the N2 will only improve upon the existing BtL, and the N1 will be an improvement in Q alignment compared to the Q model woofer (personal favorite)... but he wanted to know if the BtL was good on music, and it is. He won't get to run 2000 watts for SQ, duh, do the BtL N2 is his only other option, esp if he wants an 18. Here I will be objective: any brand woofer of any size can sound good when appropriately installed and tuned. How does that help anyone? I'll stick to subjectively responding in hopes my opinion as a car audio PROFESSIONAL doesn't fall on deaf ears. Granted I wouldn't take advice from anyone personally, but that's why I'm not asking questions. In the rare case I would need advice, like with all the effin blades and cloned keys you need to pit a remote starter in nowadays, I would ask my boss. When it comes to audio installation, I pull rank on my boss, as that's why hired me; I'm the man and nobody can touch my designs for SQ enclosures outside of my man Mark Prosslik from OH. So if you have an answer to help someone, by all means respond to their query. if not, stfu. Check out the galleries at soundcraftcarstereo.com for installation ideas, and good luck with your build Bam Bam, if you want a full enclosure design made on solidworks, not some crappy Google toolbar program like others do (just embarrassing), feel free to pm me. I just paid $700 to replace some oxygen sensors, which I now have to replace AGAIN myself, so I'm pissed off and cold so gimme a day or two for that design if you want it.

The gen 2 BtL sounded great. If you have a keen ear you will notice a slight volume increase in output as you get lower (closer to tuning I should say), which becomes less noticeable as you put more power to it. For 95% of car audio fans, it was exactly what you wanted for a good, loud woofer. If the similarity between the ts parameters indicates anything, the N2 will be about the same as the gen 2 with minor improvements in linearity (which is irrelevant for a 2000+ watt application) and at least equivalent output, with a huge improvement in overall woofer mass, which is nice for saving gas mileage, suspension wear and brake wear in multiple woofer applications. I'm sure the N1 will hit hard, and sound amazing, but true SQ setups require considerable sound proofing to achieve an appropriate listening environment. So would you rather spend all your money on dampening, mlv, and cc foam, or get a beastlier woofer for more impressive output with above average musicality?

ive been toying with the idea of making a ring adaptor to fit two 12s isobaric in the 15 hole lol... I can't get that box out as I built it in the trunk, then glassed it in from the trunk. maybe ill put a sealed box in my backseat for now lol

Same here lol... I actually had no speakers for two weeks while I built an amp rack... took my time plus its cold for fiberglass work... now its all done I wish I still had a Q15 laying around to fill up that empty hole Still I can wait for that N2, it'll be totally worth it I loved my gen 2

which amps should i buy for 4 15 BTL N2's

What's the projected msrp tor the crescendo 5k? $800-900? That's still about the same price as a saz3500 I would vote x3 for crescendo

which amps should i buy for 4 15 BTL N2's

oh and if you didn't hear him say it he only lost .2 dB dropping two equivalent amps out of four. If you had just two amps capable of more power individually than the four amp setup you might gain actually... but that depends on a lot Regardless of speculation, you save money. I think its an easy choice?

which amps should i buy for 4 15 BTL N2's

wouldent i make alot more power with 4 saz2500's? gunna hurt my bank account tho, thats why i am considering 4 aq2200's i keep going back and forth!!! i need to make up my mind In theory yes... but the difference in SPL gain for the extra two amps won't make up for the price difference... My man bravo showing you the deal by video, he runs Fi BtLs too with sundown power. He has a good channel, very humble guy and always backs Fi products, check out his installs if your interested
