    Peak Frequencies

Hey so I see a lot of people saying "my car peaks at 54 hertz" and I'm just wondering how exactly you find your peak frequency for your specific application. Is it something that needs to be measured using some kind of tool or can it be done by ear or some other method. Also assuming my peak frequency was 48 would you expect to find the frequencies surrounding that range playing audibly louder? If they do play louder how do you combat such a hump as to improve your SQ? My peak frequency is not something I absolutely need to know but it'd be cool to find out right and it might help in making some changes to my system.
  2. My sister just got an 04 Land Rover Freelander and I'm wondering what size head unit fits into this car. The stock radio is a cd changer that takes up far more room than a single din head unit would but I'm not exactly sure on what size would fit. Any body Know what would fit?

tips to make build sound that much better?

Thanks for the link bro but it looks like I won't be doing one of those. I'm pretty sure a have a metal wall between my trunk and the back of the seats. Yours look really nice though. I wanted to do something special with this build to set it apart from the average build. Would it be possible to build the box put it in the trunk facing out and do some cool fiberglass work to Make the face of the box appear to be sealing off the rest of the trunk then maybe mount the amps onto that. On second thought what if I was to make an MDF plate that had a rectangular hole the dimensions of the face of the box and cut out to fit the contours of my trunk and build amp spots into that. These are just ideas to make it look nice. I don't know I just want people to get in and be like wow thats intense and then I want to be able to hop out and show them my trunk and not just show people a plain box with a sub in it you know. I seek to impress people with the look and sound of my system not to mention I'm bored and I need a good project. Any ideas anybodies been wanting to try but needs a guinea pig? I'll take any ideas as long as they are relatively easy to do. I don't have a workshop or anything so anything I do will be home made in the most literal of ways. I've never done fiberglass work on a car but I've glassed more surfboards than I can count so I think I can handle most glass jobs.

tips to make build sound that much better?

ok its for a Mercedes e320 I've had the car for ten plus years n I'm just now doing a system in it. my mids and highs sound good I'm just lacking bass. I'm just wondering if there are any things that I could do to improve the performance of my subwoofers via my build.

Ok so my front stage is already installed. I have a cadence powering a set of I'D ctxs and now I'm moving on to my substage. I'm putting in a 12" Fi BL in a 2.25ft^3 box with a sundown to power that. I'm looking to improve my sound any way I can. hope that helps. I'd be glad to answer any more questions if I didn't cover everything.

So come January ill have all the bits n pieces for my build. What are some things I could do build wise that would make it sound that much better? I read somewhere about firing the sub forward and sealing off the trunk. what is this and what are the advantages? just looking for some ideas of how to squeeze every bit I can from this build. thanks in advance.
  8. Hey so I was browsing woofersetc today and I came across this Clarion VZ400 Looks pretty nice for less than $400. I looked everywhere but I couldn't find a review. Anyone tried one of these or used a clarion head unit and know how they do? Looks like a steal to me so I'm just looking for second opinions.

    My Audio Journey haha **Pics**

The head unit takes standard composite video (yellow connector) as one of its imputs. It would work with a 360. You'll need an inverter for the xbox to go from 12v DC to 120v AC. Oh and OP, nice job! Very clean, love the xbox! Thank you. I'm desperate to do something like this now. Very very cool OP I like the whole set up a lot. Whats in the front stage?

How do you convert the xbox's signal into the head unit? Is there a set of inputs or does it take some special work? Would it work with a 360?

    Daily System Power

So here is the question I pose. What is the point in giving your subs as everyone always says if squeezing that extra couple hundred watts in there makes no audible difference? Not trying to argue because I don't know enough about this subject to argue it just curious.

    Front speakers

Hey what's up I'm new here and I'm on here because I have been looking at these two sets of speakers for a few weeks now and I can't decide between the two. The first one is a pair of Focal 165A1s they look really nice and they sound great as far as I could tell in the local shop. I can get those for 300 from them. The other pair is a pair of Image Dynamics CTX 65cs I heard these briefly and they sounded ok and they are super loud I just can't decide if the difference is enough to warrant a 100 dollar price increase for for the Focals. Does anyone have any first hand experience with both of these sets. I'd have either set powered adequately with what ever amplifier I need to get. Thanks to anyone who can help me out.
