Heres my opinion: Jl audio is mass produced and although the research is there there speakers are JUST AHHHH AHHH AHHH no SQ at all. but on a good note you only need 1000rms to make them MOVE! my brother in law had two 13.5 W7 in a dakota with the matching Jl audio 1000.1 V2 to each speaker and it POUNDED no doubt about that but I had 1 18" BTL in a jimmy and a hifonics amp and was POUNDING just as hard as him. Underground companys(not mainstream) are in this for what it is the LOVE of the sport or hobby/ I would suggest the XCON because the money is going to be put to a better use like supporting a company that is trying to GROW and make a way better PRODUCT then mainstream for a fraction of there price! Mark is a great guy and the XCON is a great product. I hear 1 12" XCON in a trunk and I would of voted that it was 2 for sure..... It was CLEAR pounding bass as well. You could feel as well as hear every note POUND! so from one who has heard and felt both I VOTE XCON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Listen man, take this as you want...... do 2 12's you can spend more money on better quality and give them the enclosure they desire! the power they NEED! and you will have a clean slick nice HEARTPOUNDING system....dont go with over kill. This is coming from a guy who put a BTL 18" in the trunk of a malibu and the reason these guys are harsh on what they say is because you NEED to hear it. Its not an attack against you. and you came here for our input....so do this right already Get 2 12's with a sick enclosure strap amps or run 1 to each and DO SOME DO bro....... LETS SEE THIS BUILD LOG ALREADY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looking at the damage to the drunkard's vehicle, I would have loved to seen that bastard run All I know the lord was with that drunk driver........because there was a cop right there already at the scene because if not HOVE would of had to convince them that all that "damages" to the guys face happened in the accident......Glad your OK HOVE usually your the driver but no one could of forseen this one!

i agree with you on that.....I'm done with the 18" idea. I'm kind of skeptical about 4 12's though. They ask optimal 1.5 cube each ported. I could easily give them that? Wouldn't that be my perfect scenario? I would stay right at two bro...... pick up another 2k and ROCK OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks for the advice did yours just not sound good? I could probably get a 8 cube box in after it's all said and done. You still don't think it would sound well? I mean 8 foot is optimal for the 18 and 5-6 foot would be optimal for the 15 and I honestly could do both? honestly it didnt have enough room to get past and beat the car... I was maybe doing a 135 at most and the same box in my jimmy did a 144 on music!

what I would suggest is start out with 2 12's and see how you like that..... Also if your willing to do it you can fit 2 15's in there if you do it right and I think that you would love the way they sound and they would BEAT very nicely... My brother did an 07 fusion with 3 12's and it sounded amazing as well bro....I think the 4 12's might be a little to much cause you also want to leave room in the trunk for air to be grabbed you also need to think about batteries and amps/amp as well. I know you want to bang but I think if you did 3 12's You could do it very nicely and make a beautiful install...Would love to see the build log!

this is my video of an 18" subwoofer in a 6 cubic box in the trunk of a malibu..... If i have any suggestion I would say dont do it bro..... Get yourself a SICK 15 and build the optimal box for it.... Optimal is optimal for a reason because it sounds the best..... Also 2 12's would sound amazing and the enclosure could be done very nicely in this trunk and look very clean as well.

Howdy, I have a 97 malibu that has already been through systems and is ready to go....Dont worry about electrical because what ever is needed to be done will be done. The correct amount of wire will be ran and the right alternators..... Im looking for input on a wall or subs in the trunk what ever....throw out every Idea you can think off as this will be done in spring but the Jimmy is all done and now its time to start the MALIBOOM! Money is not an issue....(every bassheads dream) so throw out your ideas oh and just to let you all know whatever sub size goes in the car it will be a SSA subwoofer!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let the fun begin. a video of a malibu that I picked up and got rid of a little while ago. Wanted to see exactly how well an 18 fits in the trunk!

OK here is my proper apology fellas....I really am sorry (lol) and I do mean it. I was fighting with the wife and tryed to use the forum to escape but instead used the forum to vent. I apologize for snapping and acting like a KNOW IT ALL! Its just when I want to do something I want to do it and thats it. I did not follow the rules and thats why It was a pre build for suggestions. So just Give me the 123 of what you are wanting on my end so that this thread can be the thread I wanted it to be. Just tell me the information you want if I do not tell you. I will provide whatever amplifier power is needed for the subwoofer choice we go with I will also provide the correct power for the amplifiers so this it not an issue the dimensions for a wall are 40 in height 52 in width and 41 in depth.. The trunk depth I have not measured for if we decide to stay in the trunk.. I will be going with the ZCON series speaker which are 2250RMS So please accept my apology and my snappy comback if thats what you want to call it....As it was not directed toward any of you!

as specified its a 97 malibu I dont know if I want to wall it off or do a trunk build. I will get the power to suffice for the subwoofers. I dont know if I want to do 6 15's in a wall 8 12's in a wall or do 2 15's in trunk fire forward with trunk sealed for air.......This will be a DEMO car get in and blow your head off period dont care about numbers I have the jimmy for that.
