First of all you need to be sure an read up on Don's site. There's TONS of good information there for the how and why of sound deadening. Second Skin does make a fine product, there's no question there, but honestly Don's products are truly fantastic AND it's not that much of a hassle to order them. Each time I've ordered stuff from him he had replied with a quote within 24hrs (two out of the three orders it was only a couple of hours) and after I sent the payment he had them shipped out within a day or two.
For the best results I would highly recommend using all the products (CLD, CCF & MLV) and you won't have to worry about sealing anything.
I have been reading his site. Its not the hassle of ordering it. Its the hassle of installing it.

I have a 2007 ram quad cab. I bought a set of hertz energy esk 165.5 comps. I was just thinking about deadening my doors. I emailed don as sds I really don't want to go to that much hassle. I know that you can't seal the door and such. I just was wondering if second skin is any good to put a little deadener on the door. I have not ever deadened a door did a few trunk lids in my day but have never had this nice of front component set.

Ok I so I bought this truck a month and ago. It is a 2007 ram quad cab 1500. Basic 17" wheels and base stereo with a powerseat. I bought the 20" wheels and tires that you see on it. The wheels were $325 for the set. I work for a car dealership and got the tires for $500. 275/55/20.
My plans are:
1. stereo system
2. lower it
3. cold air intake
4. Just in the mean time take the nerf bars off and all the badges are removed.
Oh yeah the system is in my signature but here ya go.
Kenwood x998
Hertz energy esk 165.5 comps
Hertz deici 130.3 coax rear fill
Jl XD500/3 80x2 for the fronts and 300x1 at 2ohms for the subs
Jl 10w0v3 svc 4 x2
I also got the HU installed tonight but ill get pictures of it tomorrow

Have thought about 2 Dcon first generation 12's in that same box with polly fill. Im running mine in in about .8cuft each with 1/2pound polly fill sealed. Sounds great. I'll sell you mine for a cheap price. Tring to move up to Gcons.
I'm not buying 12's. I went with jl audio 10w0v3 or 10w1v3. I have the w0's now but can return them and get the w1 which is what I may do.

Will you be making a post in the build log section? Lets see some pics!
I probably will. It won't be anything special though. It will take me some time to get it all put in.

I felt like those were the best prices. I haven't seen this stuff priced anywhere close online.

Ok so I go to my favorite store locally and research what brands they have. I go in today with my list. I wanted 2 jl audio 10w1v3, hertz dieci 6.5" comps, Kenwood x998, all dash kits and that stuff.
So they had a big sale this weekend and were out of 10w1v3's and dieci comps. So I end up buying two jl 10w0v3 and hertz energy esk 165.5. I got all my stuff with tax and head unit and dash kit and interface for my truck. $596 total
Kenwood x998 $199
jl audio 10w0v3 $75x2
hertz energy esk 165.5 $150
stinger RCA cables
Pac dodge interface $65

The mounting depth of my box is 6.75" so that gives me almost 2"

Well today is the day. I'm gonna go try to pick up the rest of my equipment. See my sig for details unless someone makes a good case. I am buying the jl 10w1v3 4 for $100 each.

Lift up those seats and take a pic and show what is under them. If it is all like my old ranger we may be in business

When I did 1 watt all it changed was the db level. The freq response was exactly the same. Do you want the gain tab showing or what?
Also they are in .58 boxes roughly.

Well here they are modeled. I used one sub per and 150 watts. Box size based on my .63 minus displacements roughly from my memory.
Also I have been doing this a long time but never truly understood the T/S parameters of a sub. Care to explain what you were talking about?
BTW thanks for everyones help and input. I visit multiple sites and this thread has the best answers of any of them. Most are like just take out your backseat and put a 15" or why not 2 12's or other stuff im not even gonna consider. I am using 2 tens sealed with 300 watts for now. That is subject to change though. Depending on which subs I buy also

I am stuck between the jl 10w1v3 and id10 v3. they are very comparable.
Not so much when you compare all the specs such as QTS and VAS. You are only looking at Price and RMS values.
The JL woofer requires much less space per woofer. If you have done the work already and the ID modeled the best then go for it. Do you mind posting the graphs from each woofer?
Well i can when i get home. Ill just screenshot them correct?

My dealer buddy told me I can buy the 10w1v3 for $100 each. That is $79 cheaper than the id10. Basically the same money as the sundown e v2.

No JL bashing here that I know of, hell some of us have a JL collection.
That's good to hear. Ive never had jl subs but i can buy these new 10w1v3 very cheap. Like $100 each.

Ok so i have narrowed down my search to JL 10w1v3, sundown e10, or id10v3. They are all very similiar in price. Please don't bash jl saying they overpriced and the such. I would like real opinions on these subs. I have .63ft^3 before displacement for each sub. There is no other box or anything like that. This is what i have and im gonna use. I have a jl xd 500/3 that I can use. That amp would be fine for the id10's or the jl. The sundowns would need a bigger amp i realize that.
All of this is in a 2007 ram 1500 quad cab. I have a prefab atrend bbox under the rear seats. I know this site is very sundown and ssa heavy in recomendations but the dcon is out of my price range and I don't really want to buy a new amp. I will if it comes down to it though. I have modeled them out on win isd and they are all very similar in response curve and spl curve. The id10 modeled out the best of all of them.

why what's going on with them?

So im gonna have to buy a new amp for these dcon subs. Man this isn't as fun as it used to be for me.

ok well I do a little more looking at the dcon's. I have a FI X 10" but the basket is too big and FI isn't sell this X anymore. So 2 is out of the question. I had it in 1.25ft^3 tuned to 33hz and it was alright. I didn't have enough power but it did the job. Im just afraid ill do the same thing with these subs especially if I spend this much on subs. My amp is $175 if I buy the alpine m500d or something. The newest alpine. That would give me more power but im afraid that these dcon's are gonna need more power than that.

I knew there was something with those 6.25" mounting depth I don't trust a .5" behind sub with vented pole piece. Also I see no mention of a sealed box especially one as small as I'm using. What do you think?

Ok so i have limited space and power for 2 tens
