    Buying a used Sub

Thanks guys. As far as "coil rub", I just push the sub up and down as if it is being played and hear for any rubbing noise?

    Buying a used Sub

Hi guys, Im not quite sure if I put this in the correct section but Im sorry if its not right. Anyways I found I really good deal on a W7 on Craigslist close to my house. I was going to call the guy and make a time to check out the sub. Im pretty dumb when it comes to knowing what signs of abuse are for subs but I was wanting to know in general what are some things I WANT to see as well as some things I DONT want to see (as far as whether I should buy the sub). I mean I know that holes in the subs surround or any cracks are bad but as far as the mechanics of the sub what are some signs of abuse. Hope this makes sense.
  3. Hey I am wanting to know quotes for 2 boxes; both will be for my 12" FI Q. The first is basically what you built for the guy with the BTL with the 2.5 ported at 32hz and plexiglass. Also I would like to know about a box built the same with 2.5 cu ft ported at 32hz flush mounted but WITHOUT the plexiglass. These would be shipped to North Carolina when you calculate shipping. Thanks man!

    Sealed Enclosure for 12" XCON

Would like to get a quote for a carpeted, flush mounted, sealed enclosure. I have plenty of room but my max demensions to work with in my 2000 Celica is 23" Deep 15" Tall 42" Wide. Would like this enclosure to be around 1.3-1.5 cu. AFTER sub displacement

    Wood Splitting

I am building an enclosure for my 12 xcon and this is the first enclosure iv ever built so please let me know if i am doing anything wrong. I had my 3/4 mdf cut and i was going to use wood glue and wood screws. when i went to put in the screws into the vertical pieces of wood, the wood split. I tryd every screw i could think of any i couldnt figure anything out.. also how do you screw into the wood after you have just put wood glue on. the wood just slips around when you try to screw?
  6. Great seller, very honest in the description, extrememly fast shipping, great price!! Couldnt really ask for more! Thanks S.DeYoung!!
  7. I am getting ready to build a nice simple sealed enclosure for my 12" Xcon. While im building this, I would like to go ahead and build an amp rack. I want something fairly simple. A false floor with the amps mounted down in the floor would look nice IMO but I need help as to how to start or what to do? this rack is for my 2000 Celica and the two amps are a Kicker 10ZX350.4 and a SAZ-1500. Pics or videos or just advice would be great!

    Amp Rack/ False Floor

This is a simple drawing of my idea This is the same sketch but it shows my idea for where ill have carpet I know this is very amature, but its the best I could do.

    Amp Rack/ False Floor

Iv drawn a simple sketch of my idea on work but i cant figure out how to get it on here?

    Amp Rack/ False Floor

the carpet does come out in one piece for my celica. but do you raise the floor like 2"s or what? I believe the saz1500d is over 2" in height, so that wouldn't work for ya now would it The more space between the amps and false floor, the more heat dissipation and cooling. Im thinking of rasing the floor about 4 inches. As far as integrating a sealed enclosure with the floor? Do I just set the box on top of the false floor or do you guys have anymore ideas? You could always build the encloser to fit your trunk space. As in, you could build the box to fit the part under the carpet, have the sub firing towards the roof, then to finish it, put a false floor around the sub. Make it look nice and maybe even sparkle lol? Does firing it up not make it sound different? But I like that idea. If my elclosure will fit in the spare tire place i can build it from there and that way with the depth of the spare tire well and the 4" of the false floor, the top of the sub box might not stick up much higher than the top of the false floor? Idk if thats what your saying but I hope that makes since?

    Amp Rack/ False Floor

For heat dissipation and cooling = What you could do, but which would take a bit of work. Put in the false floor and amp rack. Carpet over all of it make it look "pretty." Then get small squares of 2x4's and screw them in to where your amp would normally screw in to the amp rack. So this way, you are actually raising up the amp and putting more space between the amp rack and the amp itself. I hope that's not too confusing... So what your saying is do not mount the amp straight onto a piece of wood? Basiclly give the amp space on the top (the cutout in the floor) and the bottom (the small squares that are attached to the bottom floor)

    Amp Rack/ False Floor

I think carpet it? And I want to protect my amps with fiberglass or something like that but they cant stay cool like that. Unless I do cooling fans. Which is way out of my league in fabricating

    Amp Rack/ False Floor

X2. That's how almost everyone does it To reduce weigh/costs, would 5/8" or 1/2" MDF work?

    Q or Bl

I know there are tons of forums out there comparing the two but I do not want just simple answers like "just get the Bl" or "go with the Q". I am wanting to know how much of a sacrifice in SQ do you make in going with the 12" Bl. How much of a sacrifice is there in SPL when getting the 12 "Q? Ive got a saz-1500d and a 6th order bandpass built for a Q. But i was beginning to get second thoughts about the Q so I wanted to get some advice. I dont want to sound like 2 l7's as far as SQ, I would really like to mimic the sound of a W7. Iv heard one of those and they sound pretty nice. I guess im about 65/35 in terms of SQ v Spl. My main goal is to sound clean and powerful anywhere from 30-80 hz, but also to get loud enough to where someone can tell that its not just any ol sub setting in the back of my car. Any advice

    Q or Bl

Any suggestions for nice sealed enclosures.. Would really like to go prefab since this is sealed. But I want a nice prefab. Cant really find much besides ebay..

    Q or Bl

Honestly, if you have the room to do a ported enclosure I would do that over a sealed box. Tune around 30hz and youll love it. Why would you say that (not saying your wrong I just want to learn). I thought that since I wanted low AND highs that a sealed would allow for a more flat response in the higher frequencies? A sealed enclosure would give a flatter response, but ported would have a lot more output and low tuning would allow you to play the lows and highs. Higher tuning would be more peaky. I tuned to 33hz in my last enclosure and the response wasn't peaky at all. Also depends on cabin characteristics So even though its tuned to 32hz, it still plays the upper frequency?

Im thinking this is what I might do.

    Q or Bl

From what I have stated above about my goal, how do you guys think that a 12" Xcon in a sealed box ran from a SAZ-1500 @ 1 ohm would sound?

    Q or Bl

You the 3rd person to recomend a 12" Xcon.. The only problem with that is that iv already paid for a design for a 12" Q 6th order bandpass enclosure.. Not to get off subject here, but how well do the Xcons perform vs someone who has had a Bl? Has anyone had experience with both? Would also like to hear more about the Q v Bl so sorry to get off track for a second!

    Extra Spider for 12 Q?

I am planning on ordering a 12" Q sometime soon. I have the design for a 6th order parallel bandpass enclosure. Tuning is 2.5 cu ft @ 32Hz and 0.590 cu ft @ 74Hz. My Q will have the cooling option so it will have somewhere around 12-1500 rms. I will be powering this by my SAZ-1500d @ 1 ohm. This is going into my 2000 Celica. My question is do you guys think I need the extra spider? The price is not my concern (just $5 difference). But I heard this option takes away from SQ, but I also heard that if you go over rated power on the Q, you need to add an extra spider. IF i do get the extra spider, how big of a difference in the change of SQ? Any input helps

    Extra Spider for 12 Q?

Well I thought that the Q was supposed to be the SQ Fi woofer? Iv read alot of the Q vs BL threads and some say there is a big difference is SQ between the Q and the BL and some say there is not..
