Time for new subs what to get??

Never owned a xcon but I've heard a few. Great woofers. However, one of my favorite woofers is the Fi Q. They sound fantastic and still get loud. I was metering a 144.x on the dash on a sundown 2k. Worth a look imo.

    Replied. Hope that helps.

    IAK needs an "IHOP"

Ok so I ended up getting a little done. The new batt/amp box is cut. Had to make a new one because I need to stand up the batteries to fit them in and the original was designed to lay down. Why does everything always seem to come down to the wire? lol no pun intended.

That's a bummer chuck. Hopefully you can get one in time. I picked up 2 more diehard 31 batts this weekend while on sale. My New cable didn't make it Friday so wasn't able to get anything done this weekend. Maybe I can get it done before Saturday.

So I found my noise issue....

Oh my. I guess that kinda fixes it bit kind of a mess. The pio is super easy to take apart as I used to repair a lot of them. Why not just fix it on the inside? It would be a much better connection than looping it around like that.

    2010 death penalty

Well you are off to a bad start. There is a lot of design of a bandpass, even moreso on 6th. You have to plan and model different configurations for what you want to do. You can't just pick some numbers. Also no way in the world you would want to tune that low. Unless you just want to talk to whales and not play music. I think you would be much better off with a standard ported enclosure.

    My First "Real" Jeep Build

I don't like using aftermarket electric fans for this reason. They are not the most reliable and if a relay cooks, harness melts, etc you have zero cooling. Zero cooling means something is gonna fail. Lucky for you it was just the radiator tank and not a head gasket. I have an electric on the supra out of requirement. I run an aftermarket radiator and intercooler, and can no longer use the stock mechanical fan. But, I have 2 primary fans and a secondary pusher fan all on seperate systems just in case. Nor is the supra a daily driver. Lastly, unless you buy a high end electric fan setup, usually they don't move anywhere close to the amount of air a functioning mechanical fan will. I would for sure check out your system and repair as necessary. It isn't normal for stuff to just burn down and melt for no reason.
  10. I've been searching around for some 3/0 lugs for my electrical upgrade. I really prefer using the split barrel over the solid like most of what you see. Like this: I found some on amazon for $2 each. I know I can use the solid barrel but they all seem so damn bulky. Well, not that 3/0 isn't bulky anyway but I'm not trying to have a huge stack of crap on all my connections either. Nor am I trying to spend $100 on some terminals. Anyone have any good reliable sources to look at? Any suggestions? I'm not totally against using the solid barrel lugs if they are fairly compact. Usually I use something like the Knu terminals and call it a day but they don't offer anything that large. Thanks!

Is it aftermarket or stock? I thought stock they used mech fans

    My First "Real" Jeep Build

The cabling looks much better. You say the fuse melted on the fan? Are you using an aftermarket electric fan in place of a mechanical?

How does someone run so many subs??

If you build up to the b pillar yes there is a lot of space. Of course every vehicle is different. My land cruiser has right at 120 cu ft gross double layer 3/4

    SP4/BL 18" box

Ok just making sure. When I swapped in the sp4 from the q I found out I didn't lol. On my phone its hard to make out the dimensions. You may need a small brace in the port but other than that looks solid to me.

    upgrade time

I just looked and it looks like alton has one too for 225 shipped. He may take $200. Doesn't hurt to ask.

    upgrade time

I just posted in your other thread. I'm confused. What are you getting? Btw sean has a ssd18 for $200 shipped. Good guy, just bought a sub from him 2 weeks ago.

    Box Question

I haven't done the math yet for what you have but 14.5 cubes works well. I would also shoot for around 200 inches of port. It won't be a small enclosure. And I probably wouldn't listened to someone who designs stuff around bang harder whatever that means.

    SP4/BL 18" box

Specs should be ok. I can't tell how far the bracing starts but you'll need atleast 12" to clear the motor. What diameter is the rod?

    Circle cutting tool for Router

I borrowed shizzons toolmaker jig and its nice. I think what sean is talking about for the flush mount is the sizing. You can only adjust in 1/16 increments and if the size you want is inbetween that you are out of luck. Or you have to make it oversize. I like the router buddy but you have to use a caliper to set the size. Works great but takes a little extra work.

Hey chuck what if you used some of those 90* rca adapters for the head unit? I was able to make those work once.

    Chop"s 86' Cutlass

Wow that does look nice. Any idea how you are going to finish it off? The smurf blue doesn't look bad but I guess that would clash a little. I like that marble finish you had on the door panels.

Back from comp today. My score dropped a little from last time. Still managed 2nd, 0.3 db from first. Also got phat 18 award. Sean and I did some testing while we were there. Part of my problem is my voltage. On the intial hit was my peak and it would just drop off quickly. I think I could have had a better score but didn't get my door shut in time. Oh well. Just know what I need to improve for the next show. Thanks for your help sean. That bluetooth spl labs meter is da bomb btw.

    2009 Malibu Build (2 B2 Audio CC 12")

Local guy just picked up 2 of them on 4 Sundown Z's. He doesn't have all the batteries installed yet but still they were doing work.

    05 Trailblazer 1 day build

Massive crossovers. Was fun trying to find a place to shove 2 of these in. Here are the baffles installed. I did not want to mount the tweeter down there, but that's what she wanted. I was not allowed to mod the door panel, she wanted it to look factory. Installed the Alpine 5 channel. Well, can't wire below 4 ohm on the sub channel. So rewired to a coil on each of the rear channels. Sounded like crap. I dug out an old Alpine 500w mono block I've had forever. Wired back to 2 ohm. Worked great and sounds good for what it is. Wired the front channels of the 5ch amp to the fronts. Meh, it isn't that great. Not bad for 40w/ch I guess. I'm not crazy happy about the fronts. I know it doesn't have a lot of power going to it, but it sounds off. I think it's because the tweeters are mounted so low, but still more off than I thought it should be. Doesn't sound bad by any means though. Well, looking at the door panel I can see it sticks out quite about from the baffle. I opened up the doors and it sounds much better. Once you have the doors closed it's blocking a lot of the sound due to seating position. It doesn't block the woofer but still have some sound trapped in the door panel itself if that makes sense. I think I'm going to try and make a build out to seal it against the factory grille. I also think I may pull out 1 tweeter and move it up to convince her to let me do something a little different. She is very happy, which in the end what matters. But I believe some adjustments it will sound much better. Will post more pics once I get the enclosure finished.
