    does the wife really know

Mine helps me with my company..so yep she knows that I spend a ton of money a year on this industry.
  2. Not looking good for me. We are backed up and looks like working Saturday is a must for us.

Just a quick look at some our work

This one is for a modest trunk setup with a little bit of a viewing window... Here is a look at our new coating with some painting to match the owners SSA subs that will be finding a new home in here.. And here are a few from the build log area some of you may not have seen yet..

You don't? Man your behind the times.... lol Tear down looks like it's on it's way... glad to see your getting a lot of work done!!
  5. Rebuilding the carbs is pretty easy (setting them correctly is more of a pita then anything). There are some great "how-to's" online for them as well.
  6. I'm still on the fence on being there. We are swamped right now and just have so many different things going it is ridiculous. This is one of the first years in a very long time that I have not attended any of the Heatwave shows.

    Soundigital Amps

I can/will. I don't mind stating my opinion, but i try not to stir the pot that much to be honest. However, I can post it as 3rd party since it won't actually be my personal review of the Brazilian amplifiers.

    Soundigital Amps

Ineed Aaron. I was actually just banned over there for some imaginary reason. A mod and myself were PMing back and forth and then I log in to read a PM and I was banned with the comment of "Arguing with a Mod". Maybe I used words that were to large for his reading level? Who knows, very odd over at CACO.

    Soundigital Amps

curious to what u mean by they have a faulty design ?? I will get our amp tech to do a write up when he has time and PM it to you. He is far more knowledgeable then myself and go into to greater detail.

    Soundigital Amps

Say that on caco or to Mach5. I have a few times, normally ends with a PM from a Mod suggesting I stop before I get a vacation. As with amplifiers some can work around issues and have good success with them. Others..not so much. In end if/when it fails good luck with repairs.

    Audio System for GF's Car...Help!

After you get the unit installed and let the GF play around with it a bit, she should be able to give you some feedback on what she thinks and you can upgrade from there. That is how I started my wife out years ago...no she typically has over 3-4k rms total in her cars haha....its a hard bug to shake if she gets bit by it.

    Audio System for GF's Car...Help!

Basing my opinion on the cost. Sure if you can find one cheap go for it, but at 100+ no way. I can agree with that. $100 is far to much for that unit. We normally sell $150 used units for $200 and add it with them. Seems to work out great when people want more then what their budget allows for, or they just want something amazingly simple.

    Audio System for GF's Car...Help!

Just buy one used, I would never suggest buying one new. We have several at the shop that we have procured from others over the years. They work great for simple setups and leave little to be wanted for. I have yet to install one and have the owner come back with an issue or a wish to upgrade that part of the installation. Do you actually have experience with that unit or just making comments because of the MSRP price? If the OP wants to go the direction of adding wires/amps to the car then there are endless options and yet again not a single one would be wrong, given the situation and goal. For a cheap 4 channel I actually favor the JBL GTO amps. Or you could even got with a 5 channel amplifier and just be ready for the sub stage when she is ready. Memphis Belle amps are nice for that as well some older amps like the Autotek SX5750(one of my favorites for GF/Wife systems) or even some Soundstreams like the VGA 800.5.

    Audio System for GF's Car...Help!

If you are wanting to keep on a low budget with an easy install, I would get an Alpine and then get the power pack ktp-445. Use that with a decent set of mids/highs and she should be very happy with overall sound and output. For mids and highs there is a huge list of possible companies you can go through. For this case just about any will do the trick to be honest.

    Audio System for GF's Car...Help!

When you do the enclosure do something to make it "personal" they always like that... Like this one we did for a guy's a wife a while back. Don't mind the room lol

    Soundigital Amps

They have a faulty design that creates a rather large number of issues and the great magic smoke.

Trying out a new covering material

    Thanks
  20. I did manage to build a "test box" for some new coating materials that are similar to bed liner but are thicker and made for wood. Came out pretty good and I think we will be stocking this and offering it as an upgrade option for those that want it. Here is an idea of what it looks like. This enclosure had zero prep work..was tossed together and then covered in the new material. It has a OZ Audio Matrix Elite 12 mounted in it for testing. I brought it home and had it setup up in my HT as well. Works very well, very durable and is actually washable....

    Niagara Falls from NY

Very nice pics... I was there 5 or 6 years ago..and I agree the Canada side has a better view and far more going on. I have pics some where, but they are no where near that nice...cell phone pics from back in the day haha.

    Upgrade Questions

As for as wiring basic series/parallel there is actually proper and improper ways of doing it. Anyone with basic background in electrical would tell you that, but in most cases those differences truly are almost non measurable. Assuming wiring and such are all equal to each other and not varied in gauge or product quality.

    Upgrade Questions

Once again you have done nothing but look over what I said. I never said it will cause a huge issue in every application. However it can and does in others. There are more variables then just the speed of which the signal can possibly travel at. There are a wide range of various things that can and will alter the speed at which a signal can/will travel. The bronco was a severe worse case scenario. It truly was, and it did not defy physics, it did however have the exact issue of what we are discussing. On a daily basis the worse issue I came across was the use of different wire(speaker or RCA)and the use of a second amp independently from the first in a common chamber enclosure. If you are knowledgeable in physics, then you should know that the delay is not really the issue. It just can cause the issue. As I said though, there are a far to many variables to sit here and just say yes/no to anything. However, to simply dismiss it as falsehood simply because basic math would show that the the delay is almost non existent considering all things are equal.

    Upgrade Questions

This was an issue we first found in a vary famous bronco and turned out to be the culprit behind ripping apart certain subs. While in science the book work would make a situation sound impossible or improbable. The reality is it is not. The issue in the Gate's truck was just this reason. This prompted everyone to play around with the idea that even in a basic install it could have an affect and it does. In a SPL setup it normally has an affect as well and is much more noticeable. Now in the Gate's truck it was the worse possible problem it could be. However with some tuning and new toys to adjust the delay the issue was resolved. In everyday setups a foot of wire typically won't make a difference. However if you add in the amp difference and power difference it becomes more of an issue. It can have an effect similar to have a lower ohm load on one driver. I will see if I can dig out my exact notes to give you a better idea of the issue and the possible damage it can cause. As I said before, more often then not it causes little to no issues, but that is not always the case.
