for a full size truck i think you need a minimum of 300sq ft..ant the owner of second skin told me to start around 360sqft that should be enough to do 2 layers all over the truck..

    btls

hey guys i know this is a spl sub, but alot of you folks do use them for daily drivers..how do you like them? i really want to try a few but im worried that they wont sound right..and by that i mean im comming listening to w7's for 6 years..and i know after that many years on 1 sub your ears get accustomed to them..so are the btl's something i listen to all kinds of music like rap and rock daily and still enjoy or am i barking up the wrong tree and should maybe look at bl's? also i have a side question, say you have a 12'' spl sub and a 18'' of the same spl sub, would the 12 sound better and be tighter cause its smaller or no truth to that?

    efficiency

lol. I looked into building a Zen amplifer a while back and I was looking at below 10% efficiency! What would be a guesstimate for tube amp efficiency? I never really though about it? The theoretical maximum for a true Class A1 amp (tube or solid state for that matter) is 25%...I haven't put a clamp meter on the monoblocks yet but I'd be surprised if they were above 20%. Push/pull amps are significantly more efficient. Something like a Dynaco ST70 actually runs pretty cool, while I wouldn't suggest touching the tubes in use the transformers don't get anywhere near as hot as in a SET, for example Actually, some of the most efficient amps in the world are Class C amps that may use tubes, the problem is that without specifically tuned circuits they're prone to all sorts of distortion and nasty harmonics, and such can be only used for very narrow bandwidth applications...mostly RF transmission. jim, when i read your answers to peoples questions, i feel like your a god among men

    amp for 2 12inch fi ssd's

autotek is a no because thats 2000 watts and again 2k is too much, the us amps is also a 2k watt amp again too much, the 2 choices id go with are sundown 1500 watt the kicker does 1500 watts BUT at 2ohms so no go there he rockford is a very good amp has well..so basically down to sundown and rockford..i left out ia not because i dont think they are good but sounding like you have a budget ia amp do cost and for the money i dont think much at all beats sun down
  20. denalilvr

    can ssd's handle 2000 watts

ia makes a great amp, but id have to go with the sun down for the price, quality, and customer support its damn hard to beat

    can ssd's handle 2000 watts

problems like wat when that man tells you not to send that much power to a sub he is very involved in you better take his advice..there are many things that can happen to your sub to keep it from playing..

    efficiency

you answered the question for me..so basically 20% of the amps power is waisted due to heat and your only getting 80% of its power to your subs?
