    icon 15 mounting position

guys a bit of a update now after about 1 month of play with a single icon 15" in a 3 cuft sealed box took some power to get it broken in but starting to really pound. very happy with this woofer , it plays extremely loud when pushed and is one of the best sound quality woofers . i have the box 100% stuffed what are your thoughts on the stuffing?

    icon 15 mounting position

sorry guys, i should have mentioned that . not all fiberglass i mean using mdf to frame the outline on the trunk floor. lay plastic down so it won't stick. lay fiberglass mat down to the spare shape. build it up to about 5/8 thick and finish a double layer mdf top. just the shape to fit into the spare will be fiberglass. so i can remove it if need be. i would prefer to mount it with magnet in and cone up to see the logo. the box specs with these icon are they with the magnet in to account for displacement?

    hello from new brunswick canada

hey codester thank you so much for the related news for a sealed use. see i don't have the icon as of yet. ordered in early may so should be close. my car has been through many changes in the last years and back in adire audio days i had a tempest 15 in 5.5 cuft sealed and it was fantastic but needed big boxes. last few years have been 10's 2 or 3 then some mtx 12's 4 of them. but nothing like one single 15.so i'm very excited to get going back to that. if it needs that little maybe i can go slot ported what do you think? sealed or ported very low?

    hello from new brunswick canada

thanks very much can't wait for it and to be the first in this area to have a ssa icon. sound quality is my only goal. car is a 91 prelude h22a engine swap. front doors have 2 6.5's 2 5.25.s a hiquphon ow11 tweeter and a mb acoustics tweeter up on the dash. this is on both doors. powered with a mcintosh mc440 bi amped crossed at 3800 hz with a audio control eqx. my plan is a sealed 4 cuft fiberglass into my truncks spare tire well.

How did you guys find SSA???

aaron i started by watching steve meade youtube vid of mark at steves shop to show him his subs. as soon as mark said they are hand made i was sold. right away i bought a icon 15
  8. hi guys new here but not to audio . doing a change in my sub from small subs to 1 icon 15 dual 1 ohm. always had 10's or 12's in boxes . car is small 91 prelude with a spare tire drop in the trunk. my idea is to fiberglass a box to use the trunk spare area plus a little more to yeild about 4 cuft sealed. what do any of you think about mounting a icon like tis? mabnet in with cone facing up or magnet up with cone facing into the box? sound quality is my goal . thank you gordie
