    BTL + subzero temperatures

like any system and vehicle as well... you let it sit for afew mins warming up at idle, just like your motor, stereo on low volume. this gets things moving alittle but not to much so any moisture frozen gets heated up and melts away before it causes damage. as long as you dont hop in your car and crank it up within the first 5mins youll be fine!
  2. well thing is i had my alternator guy build me a high power one for my truck and for some unknown reason at times, mainly early in the morning when its cold out still my alt will be charging from 14.4 bouncing up and down to 15.5v ive takin the alt to my alt guy and he put it on the bench and said it tested good no problem... well thing is it only does this early in the mornings every now and then, but later on in the day it charges normal 14.4v just fine. i got no warrenty on the alt so anything that he does to it ill have to pay for. so if 15.5 wont hurt any of my equipment ill just leave it alone for now, otherwisee i gotta pay him to put anew regulator in it and just hope thats whats wrong with it! if it doesnt fix it i might ask him if he can build me one with a external regulator that i can adjust the output voltage with tho im sure thats more money. but anyways can 15,5v hurt my trucks electrical? so far its been about a month or two with no real problems. just my dash lights getting brighter with the voltage hike in the mornings.

    Big Dave's Truck Project

very nice setup! i love those amplifiers! only thing i hate about them is the internal vent screen! broke the plastic melted tabs and the metal screen fell onto the board and fried my amplifier so i suggest to everyone with it pull the amplifiers face off and reemove or use some good epoxy all over the grill to the back of the face so it never falls off and fries yours!
  7. well you sure the belt size you have is the right size? when i upgraded my trucks alternator to a high powr alt i had to buy a longer belt at frst for the belt to fit, then when i swapped out the alts pulley to a overdrive pulley i had to buy another belt that was slightly shorter. or it would skwal like nobodies buiseness! so just be sure your belt has the right tension on it... but id agree 99% of the time the alternators bearings dont go bad. typically its another pulley that bearing is going bad... like the tensioner pulley or even a guide pulley. simple way to test if its the alt or not simply pull it off and have it bench tested. if it makes the noise on there bench machine then you know its the alt... otherwise pull the belt off and spin every pulley and find the one that does not spin as freely or makes any noise and replace it.
  8. dito for such low power that is odd. you must have some corroded wire connections. but the big3 upgrade should help alot. hell my old civic only had a stock alt of about 90amps or something low like that, hell the stock ground wire is only maybe 6gauge so you definatly wanna upgrade that at least. and just have the alternator and battery tested on the car to make sure they are both good condition. but if your wife doesnt beat it up like that at full tilt then i wouldnt call it a real problem. as long as the alternator is charging most of the time it should be fine. hell i ran a solid 12.6v for awhile in my truck while stop light thumping sinc the idle was so low the alternator wasnt putting out and when i put my larger amplifier in my truck it was even worse at full tilt while driving but as long as i wasnt FULL TIL thumping from point A to B the battery always had enough power to start the truck up no problem.

adding a relay control for trunk release?

well if you want your system to be protected from opening the rear, then relocate that simple pull handle somewhere else... i would recomend under the back seat somewhere preferably some what hidden. and be sure to not just relocate the old one but run to your local junk yard and buy another pull lever so you can put this FALSE pull handle in the stock location, this way they will think O CRAP this guys pull handle is busted now ill have to pop the trunk lock if i want in th eback. and thats going to take even longer for me to steal... and put a remote poper on the trunk itself just like for shaving a door handle. they work great for trucks as well!! wiring them up is very easy. just 12v relay and power and ground to the solenoid on the trunk lid. then its just tap into a ignition source to activate the relay when you push a botton or use a alarms trunk poper wire if you got a alarm which you should since its the first step to saving your system! main thing i recomend is using a good quality solenoid! and dont go for the weakest one, they may work at first but in time they could grow weak and just not have enough pull to get the job done. and if you live in a bad area or just park your car in a bad area at work or what not... then simple way that is proved to work but alittle ghetto.... a chain and strong pad lock, simply attach one end of the chain to the floor of the trunk and connect another piece of chain to the trunk lid itself around the latch area good and strong, then when in doubt simply put the lock on both chains making them just long enough to lift the trunk lid about 4-6inches so you have enough room to get your hands in and unlock the padlock to open your own trunk. then just use some duct tape or electrical tape all over the chain links to keep them from rattling when bumping. ghetto but dam well effective! not to many stereo theives carry bolt cutters with them!

    false floor.

those cross flow fans are pretty nice. just be sure they can get air from somewhere fresh.. if you hide them under some carpeting or small crack they cannt push/pull to much air. so if you have to build some kinda duct work you might want to put a extra fan on both ends at the ends of the duct work. if you dont mind cutting into some factory side panels then i would say get some air vents out of a junk yard to your style you like. i personally like the camaro or PT cruiser air vents, the camero has small 1inch wide by about 5inch long vents that are pretty flat so you can just cut a hole in your hanel and run the duct work to your fan setup and it shouldnt stick out to much. my favorite so far is the pt cruiser air bents since they are round and vents can be turned to any angle and also fully closed this way you can paint them to match if you wish and simply push the vent over and have it closed so it just looks like a cap when showing off the car, then just open the vents back up for the system.

Also a alpine IVA-D106 flip out dvd radio. 4. I have several websites that i have build threads on with all of my trucks work and i am a picture/video post whore. I do all of my own installs from wiring to custom boxes and other misc custom touches here and there. I also plan on rebuilding my bass setup this winter to get me past the 145db mark and still have a daily driver with no blow threw setup. 5. BL 12inch sub aero port length?

so anyone know how long i should have this aero port? 4inch aero port tuned to 34hz?
  17. addiction2bass

BL 12inch sub aero port length?

well im trying to plan my setup... already got it down to a fully loaded for daily driving BL 12inch subwoofer to go with my RF amp that pushes 1602watts rms.... the box will be around 2-2.5cubes after displacement... have to run all the numbers after i gut my current setup.... and well i plan on running my same box setup in my civic to have it front firing into the cabin... and well i have a slot port in my box but im wanted to rebuild my trunk setup and this time instead of having a slot port id like to use some aero port or ports..... want to use some 4inch aero ports for the setup.. BUT im always HORIBLE with calculating ports.... ive always had people run the numbers for me! can someone PLEASE help me out with a port length for 1 or 2 FOUR inch aero ports? id like to use 2 ports but if ya think 1 will be enough i could leave it as just 1.... PLEASE RECOMENDATIONS........................

BL 12inch sub aero port length?

OPPS sorry... typical 34hz is what ive been doing lately. and if 1 will do it ill just stick with it... i just dont want much port noise since this is a front firing setup... this is how my current setup is BUT i need a more powerfull sub which is why im upgrading my SX to a BL 12....
  19. looks good as always! keep it up!
  20. well originaly i was gonna get a BLT fully loaded for daily driving.. BUT NOW im not sure if i should run a BL or the BTL... ive heard of people running the BLs more for daily.... heres what i got a RF amplifier benched at 1,620watts RMS at 1ohm.... and only running a single 12inch sub. currently im running a 12inch REaudio SX sub BUT............ it overheats and STINKS if i pump it to much... which i know IS BAD!!!!!! and well i KNOW im overpowering that sucker.LOL since its only rated at 1K watts. and well iwant more bass but still good SQ cause my subwoofer setup is front firing into the cabin and i drive it DAILY! which would you guys think would be the BEST DAILY DRIVING best mix of SPL/SQ........... the BL or BTL..... and would the BL handle 1600watts rms? with the cooling upgrade of course what kinda options should i get for the sub? i wanna upgrade by next month before i smoke this SX and its trash!!!!!
  21. addiction2bass

want to replace my SX........ but with what model BL or BTL

ok cool sounds like ill be geting the BL next.... just gotta start saving now. should have enough in a few weeks.. i just hope its alittle louder than my SX as well..... cause i cannt realy go any higher in power than im running now.... i still need a highpower alternator and more batteries as well.
  22. addiction2bass

want to replace my SX........ but with what model BL or BTL

ill take the sx and put it in my reg cab truck ported with my little 600watt jbl amp. or inside my room with my 300watt plate amplifier. LMFAO right now i got 2 old 10inch subs REaudio REs hooked up to my surround sound system
  23. addiction2bass

want to replace my SX........ but with what model BL or BTL

well the SX is rated at 1K watts rms.... and im pushen 1600watts rms to that sucker with my new RF amp. the amplifier isnt cliping cause the remotes are actualy turned down... and bass knob is only set to half... and the sub is firing thru my back seat so i can hear most the distortion and radios settings arent even that high at all for the subwoofer and bass setup like this ya cannt have a bad sound..... which the sub never sounds bad! never bottoms out.... just after a HARD BUMPEN song beating away for 3/4th the song then ya start to smell it geting preaty hot NOT a good smell.... not quite the smell of DEATH!!!!!!!!! but still very bad smell when your in a good mood bumpen hard! i never had a problem with the SX when i had my old orion D2400, pushen 1200watts rms to it BUT that extra 400watts rms is very capable of killen the sub.LOL
  24. addiction2bass

want to replace my SX........ but with what model BL or BTL

so do ya think this sub could take 1600watts rms daily pumpen? or ya think it would have any overheating problems? just NOTHING WORSE THAN REALY BEATING IT UP WITH THAT KILLER SONG.... AND THEN SMELLING THAT HORIBLE OVERHEATING SMELL FROM THE SUB.... and having to turn the volume WAY DOWN for it to cool!!!!!!!!!
  25. i dont think ANYTHING chicken gets from meade will EVER BE DONE!!!!!!!! cause meades not dead and im SURE THIERS ALWAYS SOMETHING meade can do to top his own work
