    My SA-8 box. WOW

Correct, its in a 2011 VW Golf. I haven't tried facing it backwards yet, maybe give it a try tonight. Anyone know of a speaker grill that will work with the SA-8?

    SA-8 sealed?

I just went from a .3 sealed box to a ~.63 ported box and its was a very very noticable change. Mine went from barely hearing it in back of the car to my wife noticing when I get home. Don't even bother with it sealed, it kills a lot of the potential the SA-8 has.

    My SA-8 box. WOW

Thanks, I was extremely happy when my neighbor showed me it. First time I fired up the sub in it, I had a perma grin. At this point, nothing is getting changed. I'll just be more careful in my next vehicle.

    My SA-8 box. WOW

I have nothing to compare it to besideds the sealed box I have. It doesn't seem to be begging for anything, but i'm not an audiophile like most of you guys. I don't hear any whistling or any goofy sounds from it. I wanted more bass then what the factory VW system has and stumbled upon Sundown products. I could try to take a video but i don't think it the bass will be picked up very well.

Because I f'd up on my math and didn't realize it until after he built the box... mistake. Should have been 10hz lower.

    My SA-8 box. WOW

I originally built a .35 sealed box for it but wasn't pleased with it because It just wasn't loud enough. So I designed a new one and had my neighbor who has amazing wood working skills build. I'm certain the port length and box size is not optimal but it works great none the less. Roughly its a .66 ported box. 12x12x12 1/2mdf Needed to keep the ported box as small as possible because of room concerns. Port opening is 1" Tuned to about 45 hz. Using a Boston Acoustics GTA 500m and giving it all 500 watts. Turned the box out to take pictures, it normally faces forward. I can't believe how hard this 8" hits. The last time I had a sub was In 1998, it was a 10 Kicker Comp and a California amp. Think it was pushing 500 watts if i was lucky. Had the sub in a large ported box, it didn't sound nearly as good or hit as hard as this Sundown 8". I am extremely pleased with the SA-8 and will be putting an SA-10 or 12 in my 1970 Dodge Dart when I start on the interior. Another happy customer!

    Question on SA-8 and amp

How many fractions of a cubic foot does the SA-8 take up? .07 ? Trying to build the box in sketch up and using the RF boxwizard for sizing.

    Question on SA-8 and amp

Right on! I'm pulling the trigger on a SA-8 and the BA amp. Thank you VERY much for the help!

    Question on SA-8 and amp

wow, recommended Sealed Box: 0.280 ft^3. The smaller the better for me because I need to retain as much hatch space as possible. The E8 says it will only handle 200watts rms. If its like the SA-8 shouldn't it be able to take 300 watts at 4 ohms? Alpine has diagrams on how to hook up the subs for various ohms does Sundown?

    Question on SA-8 and amp

Will the SA-8 D4take 500watts rms daily? Straighten me out on the ohms thing please. The sub description says its 6ohms. But it has dual 4ohm voice coils? I planned on connecting the amp to it with a 2ohm load pushing 500 watts. I must be missing something. Read so much lately its all becoming jumbled.

    Question on SA-8 and amp

I'm in need of a sub and amp for a 2011 VW Golf I just picked up. After reading through various reviews I was almost dead set on an Alpine Type R 8". Then I started reading about the SA-8 D4 and how much everyone seems to love them and they trump the Type R's. Here is what I'm after. Small sub that can blend nicely with the stock system but also pound based on what I'm listening to. I listen to audio books (hey, I've got a long commute and it helps ease the road rage) and any type of music, be it country, rap, rock, metal, pop etc... I have $300 to spend on a sub/amp combo. I've already got the MDF to make the sealed box. Size will be somewhere around .45 - .65. SA-8 D4 $139 http://www.woofersetc.com/p-9264-sa-8-d4-sundown-audio-8-dual-4-ohm-sa-series-subwoofer.aspx Boston Acoustics GTA-500m RMS Power Rating: 4 ohms: 300 watts x 1 chan. 2 ohms: 500 watts x 1 chan. $149 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_39776_Boston-Acoustics-GTA-500m.html What are your recommendation and input? Looking to order soon. Thanks guys!
