Held me design! 12'' BTL Enclosure...

Hello there! So a couple months ago I reconed my 12'' fully loaded (older-model) BTL. Before, it lived in one of Pete's Team Toxic Enclosures...but due to the possibility that it may have blown because of the complexity of the enclosure...I want to design a more simple one with the same dimensions of the previous. Problem is, I do not know how to design one. The dimensions would be 20 by 30 by 14. I would like it to be tuned at 32 hz. If someone could please point me towards a thread with the same specs, or design one for me. I would be very greatful. The sooner I could have this figured out, the sooner I can build the box and install the subwoofer. Thank you. P.S. : This was the last enclosure...

Held me design! 12'' BTL Enclosure...

Yes, please. Yeah, that's what I thought too. But I didn't give it too much power (2300 rms), and my subsonic filter was set correctly. And this is what Nick recommended...so I wanna give it a try. If anyone else is willing to give this a shot, I would greatly appreciate it.

    BTL Enclosure Recommendations

I was just wondering if pictures and/or cut sheets would ever be available on the forum. At the very bottom of the Pinned BTL Enclosure Recommendations Thread it says that "Pictures and cut sheets for some enclosures [are] coming soon," however that has been up for many months now and I was wondering if they would ever be up. I just got my 12'' BTL reconed and am wanting a more simple design this time for my box, however I have not found any actual standard recommended designs posted up by Fi, and was just wondering if they would ever be made available. Thanks

    2002 Civic Progress

Fitting the battery was no problem. I just had to remove the end plastic piece on the air intake and then notch the battery hold-down plate as this battery is wider. Very simple "mod" for a much larger battery. More car pics: I like the tweeters up high the in A-pillar, I've done it in several installs. Your suggested position works pretty good as well, I've done it before. I prefer the A-pillar personally since it does seem to raise the soundstage a bit. Looks awesome man. I think your right about the tweeter placement as well, when I do get my components in I'll probably be placing them there. Now I'm just trying to imagine a white civic with those altezza's.

    2002 Civic Progress

Looks great my friend. By the way would you mind taking some more pictures later of your car and such? I want to see how those altezza's look in the back. (by the way i have 02 civic as well.) Also, did you have any troubles fitting in the battery? I'm still running a RF T20001bd on the STOCK electrical....I don't know how the cars still taking it...but yeah....I've been looking for a nice sized battery to be fitting in there... Haha and by the way we installed our amps in the same place... btw take a look if you'd like. http://www.soundsolutionsaudio.com/forum/i...?showtopic=7488 OH also....I was thinking of installing my tweets in the door panel...for example on the passenger side...the top left part of the door...right below the window....because I thought if it was there it wouldn't have anything else blocking it...but I see you actually installed yours towards the winshield...So i was wondering what you thought was better.

MEHMOUDH'S BTL 12'' BUILD LOG! OH! OH!!

Do they not design them any more? no sir they do not. pete announced this less than a month ago on hexibase and i was sad. they were doing so many and they are so time consuming. they figure if they drop the blueprints and perhaps lower the price of built boxes, then they'll sell more built boxes and make more money that way. they also got tired of people posting the preview 3D sketch online and other people saying "oh that'll never work" or "i checked the tuning on that box in Winsid and thats not right" and bunches of crap like that. people don't realize that the vehicle the box is in plays a HUGE role in tuning and stuff like that and that Winsid is very inaccurate for vehicles because it calculates things based on a mic placed in an acoustically sterile room 1m from the sound source. for example: pete helped me with my design. a 6" round port 15" long in a 3 cube box with a 12" q and the alignment and placement of the box in MY vehicle will yield around 25Hz according to pete (and i'm quite inclined to believe him). if you punched that box size and port size into Winsid or an online calculator, you'd see that for a 25Hz tune, i'd need roughly 30-35" long of 6" port. anyways, enough of the rant. TTB doesn't design blueprints anymore unless you stop in the shop and help them. they still build and ship boxes though. Ahh! I see. Yeah alot of people don't appreciate the work that Tuan and Pete do for its customers. So many times on othe forums people come and like post full blueprints with measurements and such, with no respect for all that work they have put into it. Makes me sad. Well I hope they are successful with their endeavors!

Haha thanks for the comment. As for the wiring, I could have made it much cleaner but I guess the whole fact that no one was going to be able to see it anyways made me a bit lazy on the whole organizing deal. Btw what do you mean by ghetto lean?
  14. Yeah I don't think theres a need to post if you're going to give a comment like that. No need to be an essho.

What do you guys use for boxes?

I agree with pretty much everyone else. 3/4 mdf should be fine, and if your using a 15 or 18 I guess it would help to do a double baffle for the side with the subs. As for the cutting, I used home depot for my first and last time. Luckily I was smart enough to give the 18 year old cutting my wood measurements with half an inch longer for each dimension, and later had to fix all the cuts myself. And for the circle, I just use a regular jig saw to cut a whole roughly the size of the circle, and then sand the rest of the whole to the appropriate size.

Then I did some cleaning up and powered the mug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! At first I spazzed out because the amp didn't turn on, but after changing the location of the ground, my sub started moving. Heres some of the othe picturrrressss. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Here

Then the ish got mounnnnnnted. I found a clever way of hiding part of the ugly bracket, which was by making a small notch in the carpet of the trunk, so I could put part of the bracket under the carpet, and the other half attach to the box. This way, the dumb thiefs could be stupid enough to not even notice that theres brackets there. Maybe. Heres some pics of the brackets and such. Holy shiatsu this camera rules. LOL so yeah I didn

Then the !Xio-bileh went inside its home. God, finally. Alllll the wiring got hidden/installed inside. Kicker Hyperflex ftw, muhfuh. That stuff is amazing as hell. And now I know why flexibility matters so much. Then the 150-pound piece of wood and metal met its home. It was so god damn heavvvy.

OHH! MEHMOUDH'S BTL 12'' LOG!! OHH!

So after the wiring finally made it in my hands, I sanded the box down like a muuug, and carpetted it with some good ol' AutoZone carpeting. I still haven't glued down the port side carpet, but heres what it looked like after the carpetting. (By the way AutoZone not having enough carpet in each package = FTL.) I then moved to the amp "rack." I figured the smartest, best-looking location for mounting the amp would be behind the rear car seats. But since the amp freaking weighs 32678560 pounds, I needed to find a way to reinforce the seats. So I unzipped the babe, and stuck some good ol' BTL-packaged plywood up her essho. I simply placed the wood on the foamage, and welded some thin strips of metal on the side-metal thingies. The wood won
