  1. TC2+ has a 2" coil doesnt it? If thats the case then i think I have a 2" high Xmax coil that will work in it...

    Thanks,

    Scott

Hey, tried to send you a pm, but it said the box was full.

thank you for the reply to my post. How much do you think this will cost with basket, etc(maybe a 15" basket)?

any idea of what the t/s would be or box sizes? Still excellent sq?

    Thank you!

    brian

  2. I'm not 100% sure whats going on at this point. Fedex came by and picked it up, and shipped it back the the original owner (who I bought it from). They told him that they were going to do an investigation, and if everything goes well they will be cutting the check. So I guess it's just a waiting game from here. They sent him a form to fill out, and then we'll see where things go from there.

i would have taken it off your hands! :)

  3. it probably still works. It looks like none of the spokes were damaged, so it probably could be epoxied. But still, get your money back for sure.

If you want to increase your post count, try making useful posts instead of just copying and pasting like this and the others :)

i guess imitation is the most sincere form of flattery. Anyway, to the O.P. oxsign, what happened? Does it work? I would take it off your hands! :)fing05.gif

  4. The 12s would be louder like said but I would also go for the 15 just to only have one sub and save a couple hundred bucks for something else.

a 15 prob wouldnt fit in my trunk, its only 15 inches high. and i already have 2 12 maws, but they are just in a real ghetto box. im in the process of getting a box built for me, just need to get dimensions and everything.

    thanks for the opinion though

you could angle the front of the box

  5. ive tried 2 cubes sealed, 2 cubes tuned to 30 hz (too little port area), and 1.6 cubes tuned to 32 hz (too little port area) i like 1.6 to 32 the best

yeah, i might try 1.75 at 32 or so, and see how that works. Its just about 12 bucks to build a box, so it is worth a try!

What is optimum port area for single 12 in 1.6 cubes tuned to 32

    website says 20sq in.

  6. hey, i have asked mike for help multiple times, and his customer service is top notch. I wanted to see what others were doing with their 12 rl-p's as far as box size and tuning.

My first box was around 1.6 at 33, and it hit hard, was fairly linear, and went pretty low. It didn't have as much port area as needed, and so i built a new box.

New box is 1.9 net ported at 29.5 hz with 26 sq. in. of port area. This box hits very low, and is very clean, but i lost what seems to be a 30-40hz range of any impactful bass from say 80hz down to 50 or so. It isn't hitting many of the notes it used to in the other box, but when it gets low, it shakes the whole car.

So, low is great, but most songs don't dip that low.

My question, is can i go somewhere between the two listed box sizes and port frequencies listed on the website (1.5 @34, and 2.0 at 28), and do 1.7 at 32? Would that have a little of both of these?

Anyway, let me know if you have had similar or different results. i am really trying to get the best out of this awesome driver.

    thanks!

  7. hey, i am going to build one more box for my 12 rl-p. I currently have it in a box that i believe is around 1.6 in low 30's, but it seems like it has a little port noise. I tried around 2 cubes at 30hz, and it seemed to lose some output, but i only had 1 4" port.

Anyway, i am trying to figure out what to do now, but my main question is:

How wide does my port need to be? Is a 2" slot port that is 14" tall good enough? it is way more than the required 20 sq in of port area.

Also, if i do tube port, is one 4" areo enough? It is only like 14 sq in so i figure it probably isn't. What would one recommend for a tube port? 3 3"? 1 6" would be awesome but insanely large, and i might as well get a 15 with a box that is that big.

And also, as i understand it, 1.5 net at 34 will be linear, and slightly louder than 1.85-2.0 at 28hz, but not quite as low.

    thanks!

  8. There are a lot of "it depends" that need to be sorted out to really give you an answer; however, you would be severly choking the 15 in such a small box and with such little port area. If that is all the room you have you should probably stick with your 12. A 15 in a cramped box will not be louder nor sound as good as a 12 in an optimal enclosure.

the specs say 2.5 cubes with 30sq in of port area, and a 2" port would have 24sq in, and a 2.5 in port would have 31 sq in. how is that choking it?

  9. one more time...
i got 1kw @ 1 ohm to play with for now. iirc, i asked scott about reconing an 8" tc2+ , and he said he was only able to do em in 4 ohm svc. what about 15" in dual 4?

    and tc-7's? dual 4 15"?

I would do a TC-9. It is much more easy to work with as i understand. they told me they could do just about any size with that motor, and it will sound great.

  10. hey, i am looking to get a 15 RL-P, but i don't want a huge box. So did some designs, and i was going to go with 2.5 net ported around 30-33.

This should be quite a bit louder and lower than my 12 ported rl-p, right?

Is a 2" wide port enough with 25 in of port area? it is in a trunk car, so i can't hear port noise.

If not, is 2.5" wide enough?

I really don't want a monster box in the trunk.

Also, would a 15 sealed with 1000w be louder than my ported 12 with 800w?

    thanks!
