  1. I have my e12 on a brz1200 @ 2 ohms, i have no clue what power its getting, maybe all of it, but i'll tell you what *to me* its fuggin loud! so theres gotta be something going wrong with ur setup, i hope u manage to work it out

  2. That would work rather well, but in all honesty I would utilize a slot port in your application if you have the space. You can adjust port area and volume a bit to help make the enclosure more efficient. This would help with getting more with less in a since.

If you are limited on space and/or plan to upgrade power, I would slim the enclosure down a tad.

What amount of port area would you recommend in this application? It is a daily driver setup, and I'd like as much bandwidth as possible.

  3. So I will be ordering an OA-12v2 D4 very soon after selling my current system (Upgrading from a Fosgate Punch P2 12, 2011 model). I have a Rockford Prime P500-1d to work with, so the sub will see just over 500 watts. I have read in many places that the more power, the smaller that the box can be, and the less power, the larger you can build the box... generally. So I was thinking of doing a 2.5 cuft enclosure for the OA, on the 500w. It will be going in the trunk of my 2000 Civic sedan, most likely sub back, port side. Does this sound appropriate? Is there another way I should approach this? The box will be tuned to 30Hz via 4" aeroport. Thank you for any help, and I apologize if I left out any important details.

  4. So, right now I am running a 2011 RF Punch P2 12" on a RF Prime R500.1 (500 watts @ 2 ohms). This is in a 1.72 cuft enclosure tuned to 31.8 Hz via 4" aero. I have the itch to upgrade. I understand that almost anything is an upgrade haha, but I was curious if the SSA GCON 12" would be a substantial difference in volume, and SQ? I would put this in a 3 cuft box tuned to 28Hz via the 4" aero. My current setup is in a 98 grand cherokee, but it will soon be put in the trunk of either a civic or corolla. Just as any extra info so you guys can help: Goal, loudest possible SQ with this sub. What do I listen to? : Everything from Dubstep, to Classic Rock, to Metal, to Gangsta Rap. Why am I singling out the GCON? : It's from SSA, great rep, low Mms more accurate sounding (low compared to the OA-12, SA-12, VVX-12), should sound good on 500, and figured i'd try to stray from the SA-12, VVX-12 trend. If you need anymore info, just ask, I apologize for leaving anything important out. Thanks for all the help and advise!

  5. hey everyone, so, soon I will be getting a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I have the majority of my system ready to install. (please dont judge, i was not as educated when i bought this stuff) Rockford Fosgate P2 12" (2011 model) (it meh...), Rockford R500-1 amp (low efficiency, 58% @ 2 ohms) , Sony CDX-GT565UP (love it), and KnuKonceptz 4 gauge kit. right ow I have a crappy box to test with, its 1.72 cuft tuned to 31Hz via 4" aero. I will be building a 2-2.2 cuft box tuned to 32 once i am sure how i want the port and sub positioned. the current box i have the sub is on one side and the port on the other. so it will be easy to experiment how it will be positioned. my question is, how should i position my sub and port? i will test and tune once i get the jeep, but im curious if anyone is/was in the same position and could give some advise. im thinking either sub up center, port back driver side. or sub up center, port side (driver). any opinions? I guess im just eager haha. thanks for your help!

  6. Hey, I am looking to build an enclosure for one Sundown E-12 in the near future. I plan on putting it into a 2.5 cubic foot enclosure. (PWK recommends an enclosure for the E-12 of at least 60L (~2.1 cu ft) for a more linear response) I also want to use a 4" aeroport (precision port) 10.25 inches long for a tuning of 32 Hz. I think my question is, would it be alright to tune this box to 30 Hz? All it would require is 12 of port length compared to the ten and a quarter. I'm just slightly confused because I have heard not to tune too far below a subs res. freq. because it might cause roll-off right at the tuning. If it sounds stupid, that's because I read it once somewhere on a forum haha. The E-12 has an Fs of ~35.8 Hz. If anyone is wondering what this setup will be used for/what is expected of it is... a daily setup, that will hammer lows. Sure I want to get as loud as I can doing this, but I have zero concern for numbers (db). It will be fed 500w from a RF prime 500.1. If there are any other things I forgot to mention that might help in determining if I should tune lower, please let me know. Thanks for the help.

  7. very true. and yeah i have winisd, but just haven't gotten around to plugging everything in. it would help a bit because i can put 500w for all the subs an get a gen idea of which will be louder. and yeah, i know the enclosure means a lot. i always put TONS of time into planning the boxes. and sorry for the wording of "fact" on the guys opinion, I guess i wasnt thinking because I was too excited for answers lol. and i might still consider the OA because Nick clamped a proto 18 (same coils as the 15) and pulled a 139.9 on 240ish watts. so I guess i can figure a 15 on 500w should fare pretty well. and as we all know that is an extremely rough estimate because like you said, it all depends on the enclosure, and car its in. thanks for the help mane!

  8. This is my second time writing this because my *DELL* laptops monitor just blacked out... haha. Alright, so I am looking for a 15 that is under 180 bones, has good SQ, but will get louder than my sealed Rockford P2 12. I plan on porting whatever I get at 30Hz. I really love the low lows. I have an amp that puts out 500w @ 2ohms. I was choosing between 4 different subs that could fit my description. Obsidian 15, Sundown E-15, Skar IVX 15, and SSA Dcon 15. Whatever I get, it will be a D4. I change my mind a lot, but I am going to look past the OA-15 because I won't be able to power it sufficiently, and I am also looking past the Sundown E-15 because (from what I read on here, and other forums) it won't handle the lows like I would want it to. Right now I am leaning toward the Skar. I'd like the rubber surround. I just don't have enough info about either of these subs to make a decision. I want to assume the Skar will get near the loudness of the Sundown (just based off the fact that they look so close). I know the SSA Dcon 12's get rave reviews, but (according to reviews) arent as loud on the way lows like I want. I want to know if they will be on the 15 inch version. I know for a fact (again, based on someone elses comparison) that the Skar IVX can keep up with its own VVX, and even sounds a bit better. I also heard that they are low end monsters. It's just a matter of how loud they can get... If there is anything I missed, or anything that makes me sound like an idiot, I apologize haha. Thanks for any help I can get!

  9. The 187 would be more comparable to the E-15 which are both 2" VC's.

Again, of all the 3 I would chose the OA if you like chopped and screwed and bass heavy rap. If you listen to more rock and alternative I would steer towards the SA.

Yeah, I have decided to go with the OA... I listen to A LOT of dubstep, some rap, and occationally some classic/alternative rock and I love the way lows...So I'm thinking this is a good choice.
