Single 15 BTL box build Any HELP appreciated

If there is anything else you might be able to do to squeeze that little bit more, let me know. Shizzzon, Thanks for the quick and well calculated response. I was just about to start cutting Let's do this Single baffle and thread, L brackets for bracing for more space. I really want to do a slotted or vent port. Dual would be good to go also. What about mounting inverted? Although I rather see that pretty Fi logo! Please re-calculate with single baffle and now 2x2's (1.5s) subtracted. I can do a little fiberglass if that will save space. I will take your recommendation of using circle ports but again if there is any way to use vents I'd rather see the latter in my ride. Thanks again 3Z for your detailed response.

    SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME EXPLAIN

big Boi I see your now dealing with what I've went through all my life. If you want some good advice SAVE YOUR BREATH and let your Sundowns do the talkin'. If he's not a believer right then....... you'll know he's either just ignorant or a hater. I am an Orion fan from way back. I've owned about 7 beasts in my day - Great Solid AB amps but the BEAST is a stereo LEGEND and so was the Orion that made it. The Orion we have in 2008 is not the same Orion by any means. By the way I liked the "car w/unlimited miles" theory Joey aka Ronrico418 aka 418Fi's (currently considering Havocs) Call me Shawn Fleming!!!

    yeah.. baby....

lil john you are single handedly going to make 2008 the best SBN in 20 yrs. I know how relentless you are with your demos and thank you for that - don't change. By the way what options are you getting on the SSDs? cooling I'm sure but bp? copper? fw? stock again? Still goin w/ the Clarions? How much RMS each? Thanks a billion ~joe
  6. One of the big things that changed while I was gone from car audio is the 4volt plus rca outputs from head units. My situation is I really want to use an Alpine 7904s or 7903s as my source. These units do not have high voltage line outs but can an Audiocontrol Three.1 fix that for me or is there a better way? Pre-Amp Line Driver: Amplifiers require a high voltage input signal (generally 2 to 5 volts) to operate with maximum dynamic range and the best signal-to-noise ratio. On the other hand, typical source units only produce 1 to 2 volts, if your lucky. In a system where the source unit is located in the front of the car and the amplifier(s) are located in the rear, the length of the connecting cables can have an negative impact on the strength of the signal. The THREE.1 includes a line driver that takes the weak output voltage of a head unit and increases it 20dB (up to 13 volts peak) and then delivers it downstream to the amplifier inputs. I really like the sound of the Alpine 7900 series from yesteryear along w/ the analog volume, and analog sliders for bass and treble. Seems to be able to fine tune your system at high db's when you want that slightest extra adjustment when the newer decks take you an entire step(ex. treble from plus2-plus3 when you might want it somewhere in between for a particular song. I've always felt a non powered analog controlled headunit has its advantages so if the AC Three.1 would work for my application or something else would work better I would like to know. This system will be used with a Sundown SAZ3000D running 5000 watts to 4 Fi 18s either SSD or Qs (Still undecided but currently leaning towards the Qs) for a solid DD type system. http://i130.photobucket.com/albums/p242/Ro...dSSApics177.jpg

    200 amp HO Alternator settup

Hi guys my name is Joey aka ronrico41I8. Wanted to go with the Sundown guys about this as I figure you'd have the best ideas considering familiarity with this product. Just purchased a SAZ-3000D that I plan on using w/Fi subs. I plan on purchasing a 100.4 and 100.2 in the near future. I would like to get away with using 4-6 batteries as my ride should be bagged in January and I need room for the air tank and enclosure. I would like a high voltage electrical sytem that can get me 5000 watts out of this baby. Is this possible? What is the highest voltage system I can use on a vehicle that is driven just several times a month. Whip is a 1988 Chevy S10 Blazer with V8 SBC350 w/280hp built to be driven on the street/highway. Any info greatly appreciated and thank you all in advance. Thanks to Jacob for helping me out with quick responses and clear direction during the purchase process of this amp. So far Sundown is simply a great company to do business with and I will highly recommend to friends and family. The Sundown website suggests a 200 amp alt. http://www.powermastermotorsports.com/high_amp.html and "at least one" http://www.powermastermotorsports.com/xs_power.html AGM cell battery

    200 amp HO Alternator settup

This is what Im thinking. Get a stepdown and a 12 volt battery for under teh h00d, and a 16volt bank in teh back. Heck, you could run your starter off 16 volts... maybe. Also, if you have MSD box, they work VERY well off 16 volts. Sounds like an awesome idea. Again does the stepdown mean I can run 1 16volt alt? Was thinking about MSD......just installed an edelbrock endurashine RPM Performer intake. Chevy crate motor SB350 has about 40 miles on it. How could I forget look what came in the mail today! There she is

    200 amp HO Alternator settup

Supa........ooooooooh sweet one title thingy those batteries are badazzzhale 1 Any place to get them cheaper? 2 Do I still need a 12 volt alt if I get a stepdown? 3 Can I run just 1 of those batteries on a Sundown SAZ-3000d w/ only a 2-300 amp 12 volt alt installed. 4 Is there another way of charging the 16 volt battery? 5 Can I somehow get away with running 1 alternator or if I have to run 2 can I run the stock alt as the 12volt if only running 2 100.4s with 1 extra 12volt battery. (Yellow Top for now) Answers to any questions are appreciated. Thanks in advance ~J

Fi SSD's with 400-500 watts each?

Scott talked to lil john about the hair dryer effect he has with his sealed enclosure of 16 12SSDs. But didn't Scott also say there is a new cooling option................yes here it is.......... I just finished adding a new option for the SSD and Q series subs. This new option adds a machined aluminum compression plug to the pole which helps channel all of the air under the dustcap around the coil for better cooling. To aid with this increased airflow we also add 6 axial cooling channels in the top plate. Along with increased thermal capacity comes the addition of an extra spider and a changed spider pack for a little extra mechanical ability. All of these new features increase power handling from 200-500 Watts depending on the application. Its just another way of tuning and tailoring your subs to your exact needs. For those interested in a retrofit... we can only add the aluminum compression plug to the pole during a recone. We can not add the 6 axial cooling channels to an already assembled and magnetized motor. The addition of the aluminum piece will aid in cooling, but at about a 25 - 35% reduction vs having both the plug and cooling channels. The retrofit and plug is $25. Thanks... Scott Also from Scott to lil john liljohn... the options would work great for you... except that you create little bakers ovens with the heat you have in those sealed enclosures in your diamond. Youd reach the same problems after everything inside heated up to the same point... and YOU will heat it up to the same point... Couldnt be happier how relentless you are with the volume knob and demos Im putting pen to paper to figure out a nice solution to that issue... I think we can solve that one and tame the hair dryer you have going on in there...Scott I am a lil john fan his SSDs are the main reason I'm heavily favoring SSDs myself. I sold my BTL and want the smoooth sound I hear in lil johns van. 418Fis

Fi SSD's with 400-500 watts each?

You can get at least 700rms to each if you run a 16volt system!!! that would be pointless Im sure for him 12volt is where its at I'm not claiming to know everything nor start an arguement but 1 do you know him? 2 the point would be to find an extra 2500 watts for 16 15s w/the amps he plans on using. pointless? 3 since SAZs are capable why not take advantage? seems like 16volts is where its at.

    Two 15" BL's w/ Sundown SAZ-3000D or Colossus

SSDs are for you bro. No question. Then if you still have an itch to buy a second 3000 buy 4 more 12s. SSD of course!!!
  15. ronrico418

To wall or not to Wall??? 4 15 or 18s????

My Blazer has about 24 CF. Soooooo after bracing and displacement the 418s will not have the full 24cf min they ask for. 4 15s would work nicely and still give you room for extensive bracing.

    2 12" SSDs

Sounds like a nice settup. I'd definately go sealed.
